Holy crap this has taken me way too long to write and for that, I am super sorry.
As always I own nothing but my plot.
The Demon's Day of Vengeance
"It's time."
Ochako and Shoto nodded at his words and Katsuki pushed the unease in his mind behind the resolve that had gotten him this far. He pointed to a spot on the digital map, marking it, before looking back at the two who had stood behind him ever since he told them of his plan. Ochako's eyes were hard as she met his gaze and again he worried about what their actions had done to her. Shoto had his always neutral expression on but Katsuki knew that he was just as committed as they were to this plan. He took a breath and forced his trademark grin.
"Tomura Shigaraki goes down today."
The eighth round of his phone buzzing awoke Izuku with a groan. Slowly he slipped out from underneath Momo, grabbed his phone, threw on his robe, and left the bedroom without making a sound. After he blinked the last bit of blurriness from his vision he answered the phone only to remove it almost instantly due to the frantic yelling of the person on the other end.
"MASTER! THANK GOODNESS YOU FINALLY ANSWERED, I WAS ON MY WAY TO GET YOU MYSELF, YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED!"
Before she could start another round of yelling, Izuku pinched the bridge of his nose and cut her off. "Mei, volume please." She let out a slightly quieter apology and Izuku sighed. "What happened?"
"Turn on the news!"
With a sigh, he thought about ordering her to just tell him but instead, he walked back into his bedroom, mouthed an apology to Momo who had been awoken by the volume of the call, and turned on the television.
Then his phone hit the ground.
Kurogiri felt his already weak commitment to the cause continue to crumble as he left Tomura to his raving once more. Not for the first time he wondered if he should just leave and not for the first time he remembered his promise to All for One. If All for One could see what his protege had become would he still support him? Ra's' successor undoubtedly followed his master's steps while Tomura seemed to have lost sight of anything other than revenge. If he gave Tomura up to Ra's or the heroes, there was little doubt that Tomura would be subdued or killed, but who knew if either side would trust Kurogiri enough for the plan to work? On top of that, the paranoia that Tomura now showed could easily unravel the whole idea. With a sigh, Kurogiri turned down the concrete hallway towards his room. He would stay until the end. It was just too risk-
Then an explosion sent something crashing into his back and everything went dark.
Katsuki was not lucky enough to do that twice in a row, however, and Tomura simply dissolved the debris before it could touch him. The crazed look in his red eyes froze Katsuki in place for only a moment, but it was long enough for Tomura to lunge at Katsuki, open palms aiming for his face. Then the moment ended and Katsuki blasted Tomura away from him.
"You are ruining the game!" Tomura shrieked as he lunged again.
Katsuki grinned as he aimed his blast at the open palm heading towards him. The blast hit dead center and Tomura fell screaming to the side of him. Katsuki's grin fell at the sight of the villain writhing on the ground, clutching his hand, and cursing him and Izuku. Without taking his gaze away from his opponent Katsuki pressed a button on his earpiece. "Tomura's down, how are things looking on your end?" Then his jaw fell slightly and he looked away from Tomura. "What do you mean Kurogiri escaped? He was out cold!" Then he heard movement and leaped back right as Tomura's hand shot right through the space where his head had been. "Keep the coms on, I have to take care of something real quick." He returned his attention to Tomura as the villain began to laugh. This laugh and the smile that covered Tomura's face lacked the same mania as before, and Katsuki braced himself in a fighting crouch.
"You heroes….." Tomura said lazily, "Always talk too much."
Katsuki felt his unease return at the almost civil tone of the villain. "You've suddenly gotten a lot more coherent." He growled as they began to circle each other.
Tomura laughed again. "Before I was fighting a broken boss that I was unable to hit. You have fixed the game for me."
"I thought you said I broke your stupid game?" Katsuki growled before having to duck away from a distracted swipe from Tomura.
"I was wrong." Then Tomura lunged again, and again Katsuki aimed his blasts at the opened palm, but this time a shimmering purple wall took the blasts and teleported them behind his head. Katsuki felt a rush of heat a split second before his own attack slammed into the back of his head.
Before everything had gone so wrong the situation room on Ra's jet was usually filled with playful jests and laughter until it was time to discuss business. But now there was only somber silence as Ra's entered the room. The muffled clomping of his armored boots entering the room broke the tense silence and all eyes turned to him. Talia sat in her chair with her usual perfect posture, but Ra's noted the tension in her face, and he gave her a brief smile before taking his seat beside her. "I trust that everyone here has seen the broadcast?" He knew that Talia and Mei had, so he turned his gaze to Kyoka, who nodded her acknowledgment. "Good. Then I don't have to tell any of you of the importance of this mission. Instead, we need to focus on how we need to approach this."
Talia pressed a button on the table and a map was projected onto its surface. "He has called for this confrontation at our old base. He obviously wants you to be off-balance due to what happened the last time we were there." Ra's nodded, he had thought the same ever since the broadcast, but before he could respond Talia continued. "He also has ensured that everyone knows of this battle. He knows that if he dies here, we will be exposed."
That made Ra's pause. "He's trying to plan a no-lose outcome." It wasn't a question but Talia nodded anyways. After a moment of thought, he turned to Mei. "Have your drones scouted the area yet?"
Mei nodded. "My babies have determined that the rest of the grounds are unchanged. However, there is a large grouping of heroes surrounding the perimeter."
Ra's dismissed the comment with a wave of his hand. "They are irrelevant. As long as Katsuki and Shoto are at risk the heroes will do nothing." Turning to Kyoka he asked, "Have we made contact with Ochako?"
Kyoka grimaced. "Yes, and she has agreed to help us, provided all we do is enable you to surrender yourself for Katsuki and Shoto."
Ra's smiled and shook his head. "I expected nothing less." Then he stood and looked over the map again. "We have ourselves, our training, an angry fiance, and a perimeter of useless heroes against an enemy with two hostages. If we kill him we are outed. If we make a mistake Katsuki and/or Shoto dies. If we give up, we die." He chuckled and looked from one friend to another. "And we have about ten minutes to come up with a plan…..should be a piece of cake!"
Ochako wanted to scream, or hit something, or crumple to the ground, or possibly all three as she looked to another screen that showed the same thing as every screen here. Beside her, All-Might clenched his hands by his side, his frail form quivering with frustration at how little he could do. Feeling the same frustration as All-Might, she turned and almost walked into Izuku. Her fist clenched and she debated throwing a punch into his armored face for getting Katsuki into this situation but she uncurled the fist. Hitting Izuku's armor would only hurt her and Katsuki's plan had been his own. They had tried to end this without involving Izuku, and while she still agreed that was for the best, the consequences now fell solely on their shoulders. All-Might seemed to feel her tension and he turned as well only to freeze at the nightmarish figure standing before them. Then, Izuku dropped his helmet and the expression on his face took All-Might back to the bridge where he had made one of his worst mistakes.
Izuku held his hands out in front of him so that they could be handcuffed and nodded to Ochako. "I started this crusade, and I will be the one to pay for it." Ochako felt something prick at her subconscious at his words, but when he turned to see the screen, she steeled herself and grabbed a pair of cuffs from the table near them. As she closed the cuff on his left wrist a whisper made her freeze. "If I die so that he might live, will you finally forgive me? Can you stop hating me?"
Ochako clenched her jaw and closed the cuff on the right one before leading him through the assembled heroes. She ignored the whispers and shock and instead she focused on the path in front of her as they headed up the driveway. Once they were out of sight of the others, she stopped and looked at Izuku. "I will never forgive you for destroying my family." She looked towards the rest of the winding path and then sighed. "But I don't hate you anymore…. Not now that I can finally understand why you do what you do." Izuku opened his mouth but she cut him off with a glare. "I do not agree with what you do. I only understand why you do it."
Izuku nodded. "That is more than enough."
Tomura's hands twitched again as he paced behind his two captives, and he continued to debate whether or not to just kill them and then kill Izuku when he showed up, but he stopped himself. Kurogiri looked as anxious as he felt and Tomura again scanned the treeline. The first sign of a trick and his hostages would die at either his or Kurogiri's hands, but still, he felt anxious. Izuku was never one to do anything straight on and there was a nagging doubt in his mind as to whether he had truly forced the situation properly. The dull sound of the helicopters circling the area eased some of his anxieties but he still found himself walking towards his hostages. He was sure that it had already been too long and that Izuku had tried to stall him. With a grin Tomura opened one of his clenched fists, he would kill the fire and ice one first, which would teach his former friend an important lesson in punctuality. But before he could lower his hand onto the unconscious hero, he was stopped by a woman's shout.
"I brought him, just as you asked."
He spun to the voice and grinned. "About time that player two decided to join me. I was worried that my cheats weren't enough to bring you into the open."
Izuku smiled right back at him. "You didn't need to do all of this for me to kill you. You could have just called."
Tomura's anger flared and he looked at the handcuffs again to ensure they were actually secured before kneeling beside his unconscious captives. The sedatives coursing through their systems still would wear off soon, but their bindings were designed for them specifically and rendered them powerless to stop him. "You know Izuku, I was planning on executing you in front of them, but if you want to make threats I can always do it in reverse order."
Ochako opened her mouth to protest, but Izuku stepped forward, his smile never wavering. "But can you kill them both with a hole in your head?" At that dozens of red lights shot from the woods and their laser trail pointed directly at Tomura's and Kurogiri's heads. Izuku's smile turned vicious at Tomura's enraged growl, then he raised his hands over his head where a single round severed the chain holding his hands together. "You keep your end of the bargain and I will keep mine."
Tomura didn't move. He seethed with fury but he remained right where he was, hands hovering over the two heroes. "You can't pull that trigger. Not when it might cost you one of your precious allies."
Izuku's eyes hardened. "I am Ra's al Ghul, head of the demon before all else. They have made my duty easier but they can be replaced. If you believe nothing else then you can believe that I can and will pull the trigger if your hands move more than a millimeter in a direction I dislike."
"Then we are at an impasse," Tomura growled.
"No, we are not. As I said, I can have you both killed before you touch either of them. And even if you did, you would be dead before you could kill them. And even if you could kill them, you would still be dead at the end. This is check, and if you try to take out either of my knights then it becomes checkmate."
Tomura looked towards Kurogiri before looking back at Izuku. "But if I let them go, then you will come and accept your fate?" Izuku nodded and with a grunt Tomura clenched his fists and stepped away from the two.
Izuku raised one of his hands and the lights disappeared. Then he turned to Ochako and nodded once. "I have kept my word to you. Will you keep yours?" After a long moment, she nodded and Izuku smiled. "Then go, take them from here, and do not look back at the shadows that I brought upon you, only forward to happiness with your beloved." Ochako's face reddened faintly and she ran to Katsuki and Shoto's side without a word. As she made them weightless and began to guide them away Izuku stepped closer to Tomura who matched him step for step.
"I will kill them all." Tomura hissed. "You have accomplished nothing here but delaying that, oh brother of mine."
Izuku spared a glance to make sure Ochako was safely out of sight before his smile fell and his eyes became as cold as ice. "I have done my duty." Then all of the tension and anger left his face and he stuck his tongue out at Tomura before winking. "And I will be rewarded for my success!"
Izuku's voice faded into another voice Tomura knew. Himiko Toga's voice. Feeling his blood run cold he lunged for the imposter in front of him, but the armored figure flipped back into a handspring for extra distance away from him, before pulling a device from her belt that pulled her into the forest. He whirled to tell Kurogiri of the trap but only turned in time to see Kurogiri knocked from his feet, and fall to the ground where blood quickly began to pool under him. A distant crack sounded in the distance and Tomura let out a roar of fury. "WHERE ARE YOU!"
"Right here."
Izuku's voice came from right behind him and he spun, palm outstretched, determined to end the source of his frustration once and for all. Instead, Izuku grabbed Tomura's wrist before driving his other hand, palm first, into Tomura's elbow. There was a crunch. Tomura screamed before trying to get at him his good arm, but Izuku twisted and slammed his armored shin into Tomura's ribs. The impact made another crunching noise, and sent Tomura sprawling onto the ground, landing on his useless arm with a cry of pain. His mind went blank with pain and rage as he scrambled to his feet, and with a feral cry, he lunged for Izuku. However, Izuku simply stepped to the side letting Tomura pass harmlessly. Frantically, Tomura turned and scrambled back towards Izuku on all fours, save for his arm with the shattered elbow. Izuku only sidestepped again before delivering a savage kick to Tomura's gut that lifted him from the ground and spun him in the air.
Tomura landed hard on his back and the impact forced the air from his lungs. Despite every protest his broken body made, he stretched out his good arm, preparing to claw his way towards Izuku. The mania in his mind had settled into a single chant. Kill Izuku, Kill Izuku, Kill Izuku, Kill- The chant was interrupted by white-hot pain shooting up his arm. Izuku was standing on the shattered remains of his wrist and Tomura screamed as he stepped off of the mangled appendage. Pain, rage, and desperation blended into one as the cry echoed through the forest. Then Izuku slid his boot under Tomura's chest and slowly he flipped the broken man onto his back. Blood, tears, and bile stained his face and all he could do was weakly stare up at the man who had taken everything from him. A man whom he had called a brother as he watched him grow from the terrified young boy to the man who could walk by his side. A man who had betrayed him without a thought. A man who now taken even his revenge from him. And now that man seemed to be debating between leaving him for the heroes or just ending this. Slowly he shook his head and rasped, "F-finish…..the…..game…."
Izuku stared down, frozen in place, at the man who had murdered one of his best friends. A man who killed without remorse and would do so again unless stopped. Then Izuku looked at his hands and his resolve returned. "And let you win? I think not." He started to walk away when Tomura choked out a laugh.
"If I live…..I will kill everyone you love…..I swear it Izuku."
Izuku's hand went to the sword on his back subconsciously and he turned back towards Tomura. He placed the blade over Tomura's heart and sighed. "I would have left you Japan, Tomura….I know you don't believe me, but it's true."
Tomura spat out a mouthful of blood and laughed. "I knew that….but it wasn't yours to give...it was already….mine…."
After looking towards the woods for a long momement Izuku nodded, raised his blade, and thrust it downwards.
Wow, we have one more chapter to go and I am currently writing it right now and it should be done by tommorrow evening.
As for notes: Tomura is honestly one of the things that has been killing this fic for me. He is a great villian in the show but the exceptionally little focus or reason they have given him so far. (No I am not reading the manga so I have little knowledge of that information.) On top of that his power is really weird combatively, and pretty much any hero with competent or higher levels of skill in hand to hand really doesnt seem like they should be at risk against him.
Kurogiri didn't really deserve what he got, but again his very limited motivation made him really difficult for me to write, so I was forced to really dial more in on the Batman/Ra's story line.
I did have several different ideas for Toga but nothing really hit home. Eventually the "where are you?!" scene just wound up taking root.
And yes I really, really suck at fight scenes in writing.
Finally, I really hope you guys enjoyed this. As always feedback is key, Good feedback or Bad, it all helps. And as always, all stories must end, and this tale of the Demon's is almost complete.
