*Should I have included the bit of Rosetta's ring into 'My Little rose' a little bit better? Yes, I should have. It would have been a good idea to include Woody actually giving it to her, and I should have thought of that before. I will include a bit of back story later in the story. Sorry yawl!*

That night, in the Caterpillar room, Andy's toys were recovering from their own playtime. The toddlers had been exhausting. Hamm had been covered in glitter and stickers, Jessie had green paint in her hair, all of the Potato heads pieces were scattered on the floor, and Rex's tail had broken off.

"I don't remember playtime being quite that strenuous." Buzz said, his back cracking.

"Andy never played with us like that." Rex said, pulling his tail out of the black board.

"We'll just have to make the best of it." Jessie said.

"But these toddlers are too young; they don't know how to play with us." Potato Head said, putting his mustache back on.

"We should be in the butterfly room with the big kids!" Slinky said.

"We'll get this straightened out. Buzz said. I'll go talk to Lotso to see if…" Just then the adjunct door opened and Lotso came in with the others.

"Good evening all. How was your first day?" Lotso asked.

"It was awful!" Mrs. Potato Head cried.

"Awful?"

"It appears these toddlers are just too rough with us, Lotso. Buzz said calmly. We're old toys and need to be played with gently. I think we're better suited for the butterfly room."

"Yeah, with the big kids!" Rex cried. Everyone else agreed. Lotso looked at them, a dark expression on his face.

"Now I'm afraid that's not going to happen anytime soon. He said. You see, we need toys in our Caterpillar room, and since you're new here, that's where you'll stay until you get picked to move up the ranks. You move up by minding your manners. That means no taking out of turn, no causing trouble, and most importantly, don't ever try to escape. This is your home now whether you like it or not. Your sheriff learned that the hard way." The gang was stunned.

"Woody? He's still here?" Slinky asked.

"I thought he'd be halfway to Andy's by now." Potato Head whispered to Hamm.

"Where is he? What have you done to him?" Jessie snapped, stepping forward. Lotso chuckled.

"Oh big baby!" The bathroom door opened and in walked Big Baby, with Woody in his arms. The baby tossed the cowboy roughly onto the floor. Woody landed hard on his back and rolled onto his side, groaning. Buzz, Jessie, and the others gasped. They saw small rips in his cloth, and a large one on his shoulder. His breathing was fast, like he was taking in more breaths than he should. Jessie ran to him and went to touch his arm, but he flinched and moved away from her.

"Hey, it's okay, Woody. It's me, Jessie. You know me, remember?" She said quietly. He looked up at her.

"Jess. Jessie." He said, getting on his knees. He pulled her towards him, hugging her. Jessie turned and looked back at Buzz.

"What did you do? He's scared and exhausted!" Buzz yelled.

"Yeah, did you beat him till he couldn't stand?" Hamm asked.

"Actually yes. Yes we did." Lotso said, grinning. Jessie had gotten Woody to his feet, supporting him with one arm around his waist and his arm around her shoulders.

"Are you crazy? He's just as old, if not older than the rest of us. You could have killed him!" Slinky yelled.

"There's still time. Now back away, cowgirl!" Lotso grabbed Jessie and pushed her backwards. "And you, get back down on the ground!" He shoved Woody to the floor and held him down with his cane. "Let the sheriff's actions be a lesson to you. There is no way you're leaving this daycare without me knowing. I have eyes everywhere. In fact, the only way you'll ever leave is if you are broken. Then it's trash for you!"

"So you just expect us to rot here, as prisoners?" Mrs. Potato Head said.

"No! Absolutely not! We will not stay here and let you and these kids torture us! Jessie yelled. No, we are taking our leader and we are going home, back to our kid, where we belong!" She gave her brother an apologetic smile and started walking towards him. A sudden whack to the face sent her backwards, knocking her off her feet. Her cheek felt like it was on fire. Both Buzz and Woody gasped.

"Hey! That was uncalled for, Lotso!" Buzz yelled, charging toward the bear. Two steps and he too was knocked backwards. Lotso had hit him in the chest with his cane. Woody balled up his fists and slowly got up.

"Clearly, you two can't listen to simple instructions!" The bear went to attack when Woody grabbed his arm, took the cane out of his hand, and slammed it into the side of his face, making Lotso fall down to one knee. Sore as he was, Woody stood tall, tossing the cane to the side.

"Step away from my family." Woody said through gritted teeth. Lotso got back up, shaking his head.

"Somehow I knew you would prove to be difficult, cowboy. You know, I won't hesitate to beat you a second time."

"Do it then. Hit me, torture me, tear me apart, but do not hurt any of them."

"Why do you care so much about them when you were going to leave anyway?" Woody took a deep breath and looked at each face of his family.

"Because they deserve a second chance at making a child happy. That's why they came here. As a friend and leader, I want what's best for them. I left for the sake of them. All I ever want is for them to be happy and safe. That means protecting them by any means necessary. So do what you want to me, and leave them alone. No one is hurting my family, not while I'm still around." That made all of them smile. Buzz placed a hand on Woody's shoulder.

"So this is the game you want to play? Fine. I won't hurt them. You will be the one who suffers for them. Though I am curious about one thing, sheriff. You are so worried about your family, yet you haven't asked me once where your daughter is."

"Oh god, Rosetta! What did you do with her? Where is she?!" Woody snapped. Lotso took out something small and rubbed it between his fingers.

"Recognize this?" He threw it to Woody and he caught it. In the center of his palm was a small silver wood circle. In the center was a tiny rose painted pink. On the inside were two small words, hand carved, that said 'My Rose'. His breath shook as he held back tears.

"Where, where did you get this?"

"Porcelain is such a precious material, isn't it sheriff? Delicate and easily cracks under intense pressure." Woody looked at him, trying to understand. When it finally clicked, his mouth slowly dropped.

"No. No, that's not true." Woody whispered. "No. You're..." He saw the bear grinning wickedly. He handed the tiny ring to Buzz. Then, using any remaining strength he had left, he charged at Lotso, knocking him to the ground. "Murderer! You killed my daughter! You disgusting, vile, hateful bastard!" With every insult, he punched the bear. He went to punch him again, but Lotso pulled his knife on him.

"Careful, Woody. I don't think your precious family wants to lose another member so soon." He looked over at his henchmen. "Put that lot in the cells. Big baby, put the sheriff in the box, he needs to cool down." Woody went to run, but big baby caught him and carried him out of the room. Stretch rounded up the others and dragged them to the back of the room.

*So I switched the roles, if you haven't noticed. :) The bit with Lotso finding the ring, same as him finding Woody's hat in the movie. Next chapter will be up tomorrow and it will be short.*
