"survivor"

It occurred to Glinda that she was a survivor. The notion took her by surprise. Was that what she was? She supposed so. Wasn't the survivor the one who escaped death? The one who got the chance to keep living?

She didn't feel like a survivor. Survivors were people who'd come close to dying – she hadn't. She could have made that choice, but she didn't. Not in the Emerald City and not in the end.

Two chances to die for something. Twice she refused.

But then, the dead paved the way so the living could keep working. That was something.
