AN: Alright everyone, I decided Jaune's semblance WILL be the Ark transformation as well. I found a good way to keep it balanced and make sense, so it's all explained in here.
AN2: Also, I never expected that much response for what was supposed to be a silly little Omake, let alone for so many people to insist it be canon. Y'all seriously liked it that much?
True Potential
Chapter 14
-Blake-
Leg tapping rapidly, Blake bit her lip in concern, one of Jaune's hands gripped in her own as she sat back in the Manor, the family's primary doctor having been called to look over Jaune after he blacked out back in the forest. Brittney sat in the room as well, keeping a constant eye on her scroll's group text, the rest of the Arc sisters having taken over their patrol just in case anything else major had managed to slip through. Momma Arc though had gotten a strange look on her face at the description of what Jaune did and went off somewhere.
"Any word from the others?" Blake asked, looking at Brittney while the doctor took Jaune's temperature.
"They said they found a few Grimm a bit more dangerous than normal but nothing close to the Taijitu Jaune killed. Either way, it shows 'dear old dad' was getting lax with handling and arranging patrols." Brittney shook her head, "They should thankfully be back soon."
"Thank the brothers." Blake sighed at that before looking at the doctor who was packing up his equipment.
"Good news girls." The man smiled warmly, "He's going to be just fine. It looks like it was just the exhaustion from unlocking and using his semblance for the first time combined with the adrenaline crash took a tole on him. He just needs some rest and food and he'll be right as rain."
"Thank you so much Doctor." Brittney sighed in relief as she let the other Arcs know, the doctor seeing himself out. The other sisters eventually returned, making a large pot of soup to help get Jaune back on his feet when he woke up, and thankfully not teasing her about holding his hand…for now at any rate.
"Hey, where's mom?" Saffron asked in confusion as they noted she wasn't there and they hadn't seen her since they got back from the patrol.
"She got this weird look when we told her what Jaune did and went off somewhere." Blake explained before looking down as she felt Jaune's hand in hers squeeze, his eyes fluttering open with a groan.
"Jaune!" Blake exclaimed, drawing the Arc sisters rushing over as he sat up.
"What happened?" Jaune groaned, gratefully accepting the glass of water Blake had ready for him.
"You killed the King Taijitu and activated your semblance." Brittney explained even as they handed him a bowl of steaming soup "The doc said that, plus the adrenaline crash, knocked you out so you need plenty of rest and food."
"…You made sure Daisy didn't handle the cooking, right?" Jaune looked nervously at the bowl even as one of his siblings sulked.
"No, we're not that mean." Margaret chuckled, "Not when you were unconscious and needed to recover."
"You guys are mean." Daisy Arc grumbled, "…Truthful, but still mean!"
"Children, stop picking on Daisy." The voice of Momma Arc called out as she entered the room, a large book tucked under her arm, "Daisy, stop saying people are mean for telling the truth."
"Yes mom." The Arc siblings all groaned together before Jaune focused on his soup.
"So, mom, why'd you leave earlier?" Brittney asked, leaning back now that the concern over Jaune's health was gone.
"It sounded familiar, so I wanted to check something." Momma Arc smiled as she set the book down on the table "And I was correct. Jaune dear, you have the family semblance."
"I'm sorry, family Semblance?" Blake blinked as she processed that, "You mean like the Schnees?"
"Not really, everyone in the Schnee family has the same semblance." Saffron shook her head, "The 'Arc family semblance' isn't a guaranteed thing but has shown up a few times. It's turns the wielder into a giant suit of battle armor we call an 'Ark'. Each Ark has a set design for its appearance, but it forms copies of the wielder's own weapons to scale. It never would have occurred to me though, since the last one to have it was Ozmium himself. What was his, Larvayne the Vermillion Drake?"
"Yeah, the leveler of ancient lands." Annette nodded, "But mom, are you sure?"
"Positive." Momma arc flipped through the pages before stopping on one that depicted a massive golden and ivory figure "Jaune activated what sounds exactly like the 'King's Blessing', the special power of Adolmaea, the Shining Sovereign."
"The Ark of Adolmaea draws its power through the King's Blessing." Blake read as she looked at the book, "The friendship, trust, love, and loyalty people feel towards the bearer of the Ark fuel their power."
"He doesn't even have to know them personally." Momma Arc nodded, "The first user was one of the earliest Arcs and he was in charge of a minor kingdom that existed back then. Even if he didn't know them personally, if one of his subjects trusted him then it fueled that power of the King's Blessing."
"King Ozmium's was Lavarayne and that one drew power by the Grimm it killed." Saffron added, "It was a passive boost for both the human and Ark forms, but the return was smaller. The King's blessing gives a larger boost, but it has to be activated and called upon, Jaune would need to train to get used to it and maintain it."
"All the Arks have different ways of gaining power." Kelly nodded happily, "And now Jaune can do it too!"
"I…this is amazing." Jaune let out an incredulous laugh before his grin turned mischievous, "Hey, I'm thinking we don't tell anyone at Beacon about this just yet."
"What? Why?" Blake tilted her head confused.
"Because I want to see how their reactions when I use it in Miss Goodwitch's class without warning them." Jaune gave a cheeky grin even as Blake snickered, picturing Ruby and Nora's responses first.
"Although first, I'm curious at how long you two are going to be holding each other's hands." Momma Arc leaned over teasingly as Blake realized she'd never let Jaune's hand go as he woke up.
"Mom!" Jaune turned scarlet even as they quickly separated.
"Hey, if Jaune's the Sun King now, then Blake being a princess is even better!" Joan grinned as she pulled Blake and Jaune into a group hug, "It's fate! I can hear the book sales already!"
"DAMNIT JOAN!"
-Omake-
"Have you noticed people acting odd recently?" Jaune asked Blake as they walked down to enjoy a lazy Sunday brunch in the cafeteria, fingers laced together as they took their time, all homework done so the day was being devoted to relaxing.
"I thought it was just me honestly." Blake admitted with a small shrug, "But yeah. I wonder what it's all about?" they still had no answers about the odd looks and whispers they were getting by the time they got their food, putting it out of their mind as they focused on the much more important subject, their French Toast and the fact it had yet to be eaten.
"Um…guys." Glancing over at Ren, who'd joined them along with Nora partway through the meal, is it just me or is Cardin looking both nervous and annoyed?" following Ren's line of sight, Jaune saw that his fellow team leader did indeed have that expression as he and his team approached their table, two of the other members looking just annoyed while the third looked worryingly sheepish.
"Hey Jaune," Cardin gulped as he waved nervously "listen, I know you have every right to be annoyed but can you please not kill Russel? I know he's a dumbass but he's our dumbass and we do need him for the Vytal Festival tournament."
"Why would I kill Russel?" Jaune blinked confused, sharing a look with his equally confused girlfriend as they wondered just what the mohawk wearing member of team Cardinal had done.
"You…you haven't seen it yet." Cardin pinched the bridge of his nose before setting down his scroll which showed an online Manga. Looking at it he saw the protagonist bore a striking resemblance to himself.
"What in the?" Jaune began flipping through, finding a summary, "A tale of a hero for a new age? Whose semblance is the power of friendship itself?" he gaped at Russel even as Blake began flipping through the pages.
"In my defense-" Russel began only to be cut off by Blake's shocked exclamation.
"I'm in here too?!" the princess of Menagerie looked over to see what's clearly her in style that defiantly fit a manga or anime.
"In my defense!" Russel began again, "You do kinda fit that type of story."
"Explain." Ren requested, looking at the pages curiously.
"You're a guy who wanted to be a hero but got denied training, you come from an important lineage but got betrayed by an asshole relative, you learn combat quickly, started dating a princess, have other girls that are completely into you, and your semblance draws upon the trust and loyalty of those around you making it the literal power of friendship? Sorry dude, but you're an anime protagonist."
Jaune took a moment to process that before groaning and slamming his head onto the table with a loud bang as Blake rubbed his back soothingly.
"If it makes you feel better, I didn't expect it to become as popular as it has?" Russel offered before gulping as Blake narrowed her eyes.
"So, you're saying you don't think my boyfriend is interesting enough to be in a story?" Blake's tone was sharp and clearly implied pain if she didn't like his answer.
"…You know what, I'm just gonna run screaming like a little bitch now. Tata everyone!" Russel decided with a nod before turning and running as fast as he could from the cafeteria.
"…At least it's well drawn?" Ren offers weakly.
