Chapter 6

Alastor Must Know

Vanessa's eyes opened, her vision blurry at first, but clearing up after a minute. She noticed Idiot sitting on a chair near where she was. Vanessa didn't need to look around to know she was in the hospital. Idiot quickly noticed her friend waking up.

"OH THANK SATAN! YOU'RE ALIVE!" Idiot shouted, smiling happily at her friend. Her shirt was covered in what Vanessa assumed to be her own blood. Idiot had probably carried her to the hospital.

"And I'm sure as fuck glad I am," hummed Vanessa, flinching at the pain on her side.

"I'm so sorry! I warned you!" Idiot said shakily. Her tail was wrapped around her leg. Vanessa reaches over with her good arms and pulls Idiot into a hug.

"Thanks. But doesn't it hurt?" Idiot said, returning the hug.

"Yeah. Can you ask whoever is taking care of me if we can go?" Vanessa asked, wanting to see everyone at the Hazbin Hotel.

"Yes. Of course," Idiot said, breaking from the hug and heading out of the room.

Vanessa lied quietly before trying to sit up, but not without a burning pain in her side where her arm had been. She looked down and saw a bandage around her side, encasing the stump that was once her arm. Idiot came back into the room.

"They said you can leave whenever you want. But they don't suggest it." Idiot said.

"Well, even if they say it isn't suggested, I'm gonna wind up out of here anyway.

"Yeah I know. They tell this to everyone who ends up here." Idiot exclaimed.

"Alright then. Help me up, please," Vanessa said, stretching an arm out to Idiot. Idiot grabbed Vanessa's upper two arms and pulled her out of the bed.

"Don't worry. I made sure your stuff wasn't stolen." Idiot told her.

"Thanks mate," Vanessa hummed as she wrapped an arm around Idiot's shoulders for a little more support. On their way out Idiot stole a wheelchair so Vanessa wouldn't have to waste energy getting to the hotel.

"Uh.. Thanks, I guess. I never thought I would have to use a piece of shit like this," Vanessa grumbled, staring at the wheelchair. Idiot chuckled at her friend's response.

"You don't have to use it you know. We can always just, you know, keep it. As a nice little souvenir," Idiot said, folding up the piece of shit.

"I would rather not use it, but we probably should take it just in case," Vanessa chuckled lightly.

"Good point. It will look nice in your room. Holding up some books or a lamp or something," Idiot exclaimed.

"Yeah," Vanessa agreed. They continued to chat until they saw they were at the hotel. Idiot paused. Vanessa raised one of her good arms (not without flinching at her pain), before rapping at the door. Idiot put her claws into her pockets grabbing onto her pitchfork. Angel Dust opened the door to a horrendous sight. Eric peeked his head out to see, not too far behind. Both of them saw Vanessa with 5 arms, not 6, leaning on Idiot. Idiot was also holding the folded up wheelchair. She stiffened up when she saw them. Angel and Eric looked shocked at the sight in front of them, stepping back and letting the two friends in. Idiot sighed and shrunk the folded wheelchair to fit in her pocket. She followed close behind Vanessa. Vanessa let go of Idiot and limped heavily into the Hotel. Idiot fiddled with her shrunken weapon as she followed Vanessa through the hotel, her nerves tense. Vanessa stopped and turned around, looking at a still shaken-up Angel. Eric whispered an 'I'm sorry' to the spider demon guessing that Vanessa wouldn't want to talk about what happened. Vanessa patted him on the shoulder before speaking to Angel.

"Where's Alastor?" Vanessa asked, flinching at her hoarse voice.

"He's in his room. Why?" Angel responded.

"I just need to talk to him about what happened," Vanessa answered. Idiot stood quietly debating in her mind whether or not she should stay. 'Alastor is here, it's dangerous.'

"I'll stay down here and wait for you," Idiot said after coming to a conclusion.

Vanessa nodded towards her friend, plodding up the stairs and up through the hallway. She went down the hall until she came across a room that had the name 'Alastor' on it. She stopped at the door and knocked, waiting patiently until she heard a voice say, "Who is it?"

Vanessa quickly answered, "It's me, Vanessa!"

Alastor called back, "Come in, darling!"

Vanessa opened the door, heading into Alastor's room. She turned around and closed the door, being careful not to hurt herself. She plodded, with a limp, towards Alastor, who was sitting at his desk, writing something in beautiful cursive.

"Hello, dear. How have you been?" Alastor hummed without turning around.

"Okay. I've had better days," Vanessa mumbled, messing with her hair.

Alastor seemed confused by that answer, as he turned around. "Why would that b-"

Alastor cut himself off mid sentence when he noticed the shape that Vanessa was in. One of her arms missing, clearly cut off with gauze wrapped around her body where the arm would be. She was standing at an awkward angle to take some weight off her left side. Alastor shot up and was immediately in front of Vanessa, looking her over with a worried look.

"Al, I'm fine. It'll heal up," Vanessa said, trying to calm him down. That did nothing except make it worse for the poor wendigo. He looked nervous and angered. His smile was crooked and his ears fell back. He flew over and engulfed her in a hug, avoiding the point where her arm was cut off.

Alastor spoke, his voice wavering, but still threatening. "Who did this to you?"

Vanessa didn't know if she wanted to respond to that, but she did. "Me and my friend's boss, Aries. I quit and he called me giving away a limb 'a way of paying him back.'"

Vanessa realized that she hadn't hugged back and had probably made it awkward. She quickly wrapped Alastor in her five arms and rested her head on his shoulder. She began to speak to Alastor, who seemed quite livid at this point.

"Alastor. In the short time that I've known you, you have not ceased to amaze me. I feel like we've created a bond, one not found in Hell. I have grown close and can only see you as a brother of sorts. As a family."

Alastor was clearly surprised by that response and smiled largely. He pulled away from the embrace and wrapped an arm over Vanessa's shoulders.

"Thank you, darling. Now! Let us head downstairs to the others. Shall we?"
