Chapter 8 : New Year's Eve

Caroline was watching down at them trying to survive the rest of the year without her. She was smiling sipping peppermint tea and eating sweet treats with Stefan. The girls could feel Caroline's presence all around the loft. The morning of New Years Eve, Hayley and Bonnie decided to check out the building it was a very spacious ground level building. Bonnie envisioned where the tables and chairs were going to go, the counter top, the cakes and pastries display area and the interior designs.

For the rest of their New Year's Eve day preparing snacks for the few guests that were coming over. The girls used this moment to experiment their cakes and pastries skills; lemon blueberry trifles, shortbread cookies, Éclair and Petit Fours. A bit of happiness struck them after days of sadness. Luna was dancing around with decorations and her barbies to Bonnie's playlist.

Everyone that entered the loft was filled with hope for a better new year, Hayley shared champagne and shortbread cookies with Elena who looked up and smiled softly at her. Hayley never got along with Elena in the past she always felt like the Elena 2.0 but maybe for the new year things could be better for the sake of Caroline's wish.

Damon poked Bonnie who was in the kitchen placing chicken puffs on a platter.

"Oh Hi!" She hugged him, he wrapped his strong arms around her, she inhaled his scent and remembered when she had a huge crush on him in high school. What a man. They were pretty close She never told Elena but swallowed her emotions."Great seeing you again BonBon. This is amazing. Care Bear would've loved it" He checked her out and licked his lips. Klaus was stuffing his face with éclairs, Bonnie tapped him on the shoulders and introduced them,

"Oh wow. Yes... You're the Prime Minister " Damon said shaking Klaus hand firmly.

Klaus laughed "Please just Klaus.."

"We'll be in touch Bon" he said picking up an éclair. He walked over to Elena and planted kiss on her lips. Klaus bumped shoulders with Bonnie and looked at her " What?"

Bonnie chuckled.

"The way he looks at you, did you fuck him or something?"

Bonnie gasped and slapped him playfully "I bet you would love to know Mr Prime Minister" Bonnie picked up the tray of Chicken puffs and walked away swinging her hips she served Davina and Luna, she looked up and winked at him.

Out on the balcony stood Hayley sipping her apple-tini as her hazel-green eyes gazed at the night life of New Year's Eve. Young bodies were walking up and down the streets with friends laughing, drunk and singing. Blaring music to ring in the new year could be heard from miles away. But she missed Caroline terribly, Caroline would've been life of this party, she wiped a droplets of her tears and smiled at a sweeter memory than her death.

"I definitely know you're ignoring me" Elijah said said inches apart from her. She side-eyed him and gave a slight smile.

He babbled for awhile Hayley pretended to be bored as she continued to sip her drink "Is it an age thing? I could get with whatever 27 year olds are into just no dub-step stuff"

"Oh jeezz dude really not what you think...I just ...I don't know...its really not you...I'm just fucked up...you really don't want to put up with my shit" she laughed off.

"Look I don't care we all are little fucked up sometimes. I just never thought I would be interested in anyone since my wife died. She was my everything I did lock away for a while. I don't want to anymore" he said looking at her. She pressed her lips and glanced at him.

"We can just grab coffee or tea or a Bramble sometime...we can just talk." he smiled. She turned and faced him, he was handsome but she wasn't going to make things easy.

"Luna and Bonnie are the most important people in my life right now. Especially Luna..if that bothers you...you can fuck off" she snapped.

He laughed "I love kids and family is important"

She smiled slightly "I do like my space sometimes and I'm an independent woman I like my freedom"

"I promise you I'm not the possessive kind. I sometimes go to Switzerland to my cabin to write. I'm sure that's enough space" he joked. Hayley smiled and finished her drink.

" Maybe a walk in the park sometime then that bramble" Hayley smirked as she walked back inside.

Minutes left until the old year was expired and the New Year presented itself, everyone gathered around with their refilled glasses to watch the fireworks display. The clock struck 12 and the colours in the sky was marvelous, Klaus squeezed Bonnie's ass tight and kissed her passionately "Happy New Year, love"

Bonnie smiled wishing him the best New year.

Bonnie and Hayley exchanged looks with a nod, they knew they were going to be alright. They had each other and Caroline would always be walking with them. Hayley was caught off guard when Elijah kissed her cheek. Bonnie laughed.

She couldn't wait for their the new adventure in London.

Oh Bonnie don't let this blissful feeling deceive you, for what lies ahead will either break you or strengthen you.

The End.
