In the morning, Ash, Goh and Leaf were in Cerise Park checking on all the Pokémon Goh and Leaf have caught.
The three of them, Pikachu, Scorbunny and Bulbasaur took a deep breath before yelling…
"MORNING EVERYBODY!"
All the Pokémon greeted them with smiles as Butterfree, Venomoth and Yanma nuzzled with them, making them laugh.
The three Bug types then flew off.
"You two have caught a lot of Pokémon." Ash said to Goh and Leaf. "Just look at 'em all!"
"That's nothing!" Goh replied. "There are tons more Pokémon we haven't caught yet!"
"Which means we still have a long way to go!" Leaf stated.
"You're right!" Ash agreed. "I've got a ton more Pokémon that I wanna catch and battle, too!"
"Yeah!" Goh nodded before looking down at Dragonite. "Come to think of it, the Dragonite you caught-Huh?"
He and Leaf saw Dragonite ganging up on Scyther, Stantler and Sableye, making them nervous.
"That's not right! What're they doing?!" Leaf questioned as she and Goh tried to go and break them up, only to be stopped by Ash.
"Let's just see how it plays out." Ash said simply.
Goh and Leaf turned their attention back to the situation.
Dragonite slowly walked towards Scyther, Stantler and Sableye before giving them a big hug, making the three other Pokémon blush.
Goh and Leaf were surprised.
"I thought so!" Ash said with a grin.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu said happily.
"Scorbun." Scorbunny said while smiling.
"Saur." Bulbasaur sighed in relief.
"You called it." Goh realised. "You knew that along!"
"Sure did." Ash replied.
"I guess we didn't need to worry at all." Leaf giggled.
That was when Pikachu, Scorbunny and Bulbasaur gasped in shock when they saw something else going.
"What's wrong, buddy?" Ash asked.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu pointed.
Ash, Goh and Leaf saw Tailow attack the three Wurmple, who fired String Shot to defend themselves.
"Hey, isn't that…?" Goh started to ask.
Leaf looked on the other side and saw another troublesome situation.
"Over there!" Leaf exclaimed.
The boys followed her gaze and saw Salandit crawling up to Caterpie, Sentret, Emolga and Dratini while hissing.
"Oh no!" Goh gasped.
"This has gotta stop!" Ash said worriedly as he ran towards the Wurmple trio.
"You and Ash handle the Wurmple, Goh!" Leaf told the Vermilion City boy. "I'll handle the others!"
"Sure thing!" Goh replied as went with Ash.
Leaf went the other way to stop Salandit from threatening Caterpie, Sentret, Emolga and Dratini.
Salandit continued to hiss at the four other Pokémon, making them really scared.
Then, Ralts and Surskit stepped in front of the Toxic Lizard Pokémon and glared at him.
"Ralts Ralts!" Ralts said angrily, wanting Salandit to leave Caterpie, Sentret, Emolga and Dratini alone.
"Sur Surskit!" Surskit added.
Salandit growled in response and fired Venoshock at them, sending them back to the other Pokémon.
Leaf arrived at the scene and gasped when she saw Ralts and Surskit badly hurt.
"Ralts! Surskit!" Leaf shouted in worridness.
The Feeling Pokémon and the Pond Skater Pokémon got back up and faced Salandit determinedly before both of them started glowing.
Leaf gasped in surprise as she saw Surskit gain wings and Ralts formed longer hair.
When the glowing stopped, two new Pokémon were revealed.
"Kirlia!"
"Masquerain!"
"They… evolved!" Leaf gasped in awe as she brought out her Rotom Phone and scanned Ralts' new from with the Pokédex.
"Kirlia, The Emotion Pokémon. A Psychic and Fairy type." Leaf's Rotom Phone said. "Kirlia's psychic powers allow it to distort the space around it and see into the future. It likes to dance joyfully when it senses happy feelings."
The Rotom Phone then showed Surskit's new form.
"Masquerain, the Eyeball Pokémon. A Bug and Flying type." Leaf's Rotom Phone said. "Masquerain's antennas have eyelike patterns that usually give it an angry look. They grow heavy and make flying impossible when it rains."
Salandit backed away nervously as Kirlia and Masquerain blasted him with Magical Leaf and Water Pulse, sending him flying to the other side of the park.
Leaf ran up to her newly evolved Pokémon and smiled at them.
"That was amazing, Kirlia and Masquerain!" Leaf said proudly. "I'm so glad you two evolved when you wanted to protect the others!"
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur agreed.
Caterpie, Sentret, Emolga and Dratini thanked Kirlia and Masquerain.
"Kirlia kir." Kirlia giggled.
"Masquerain." Masquerain said happily.
Leaf then decided to show Kirlia and Masquerain to Ash and Goh.
When she arrived at the same sport where Tailow was attacking the Wurmple trio, Leaf saw Goh being nudged by three Cascoon.
"Hey Ash, are those Goh's Wurmple?" Leaf asked Ash.
"Yeah! All three of them evolved into Cascoon!" Ash told her.
"Awesome!" Leaf remarked.
Ash noticed Kirlia and Masquerain behind her and Bulbasaur.
"Leaf, is that…?" Ash started to ask.
"Yep, Ralts and Surskit evolved into Kirlia and Masquerain." Leaf answered.
"That's so cool!" Goh exclaimed as he showed up next to them.
Ash and Leaf were a bit startled when he came up to them that fast.

Outside, Professor Cerise was saying goodbye to Chloe, who was about to leave for school.
Yamper was feeling sad that Chloe had to go.
"Don't worry. I'll be back." Chloe assured.
"Have yourself a good day, Chloe." Professor Cerise said with a smile.
Ash, Goh and Leaf then rushed up to the Professor and Chloe, frightening them and Yamper.
"You know, you run fast." Goh told Ash before turning to Chloe. "Hey, Chloe!"
"Morning, Chloe!" Leaf said sweetly.
"How's it goin'?" Ash asked with a grin.
"Morning. I'm fine." Chloe said simply.
Goh and Leaf turned to Professor Cerise.
"Hey Professor, all three of my Wurmple evolved!" Goh told him.
"So did my Ralts and Surskit!" Leaf added.
"Is that right?" Professor Cerise asked them.
"Yeah!" Leaf nodded.
"And you know what?" Goh asked with a smile. "This is the very first time any of our Pokémon have evolved! Wow, talk about a moving experience! Now my appreciation of Pokémon is much deeper! Hey Chloe, come and see, please? All three evolved into Cascoon!"
"You've gotta come see my Kirlia and Masquerain, as well!" Leaf stated.
"I want you to meet Dragonite, too!" Ash added.
"But wait! I have to go to school, so that's not gonna work!" Chloe reminded them.
"Oh, yeah." Goh realised. "I kinda forget."
Chrysa then showed up.
"Good morning!" She greeted. "Hurry up, Chloe. You don't wanna be late."
Chloe nodded and ran off to school.
"See you later!" She said to everyone.
"Now you take care!" Professor Cerise said while waving.
"Bye bye!" Goh called out.
"Bye, Chloe!" Ash said with a smile.
"See you soon!" Leaf added.
Yamper ran after Chloe before stooping and looking down in sadness.
"Professor, I have some questions." Chrysa said. "They're about the new project."
"Of course." Professor Cerise replied. "Let's talk in the lab."
He and Chrysa walked inside the research facility.
"I wonder…" Ash started, getting Goh and Leaf's attention. "Do you two think Chloe just isn't interested in Pokémon?"
Goh had a thoughtful look on his face.
"When she was younger, she wasn't this way." He admitted. "But she's kinda of indifferent toward them now."
"Really?" Leaf asked.
"When it comes to the ways people and Pokémon get along, there are plenty." Goh said. "I mean you two and I have different goals, after all."
"I guess so." Ash admitted.
"Let's just head inside." Leaf said as the Research Trio, their Pokémon and Yamper walked into the lab.

As soon as they entered the lobby, which was pitch black, Yamper started growling and Pikachu, Scorbunny and Bulbasaur glared above them.
"Hey, is there something up there?" Ash asked.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu said sternly.
Yamper jumped and tackled something invisible before being pushed back.
Ash quickly caught Yamper as a Gengar appeared and grinned down at the Research Trio and the Pokémon.
"What is that?" Goh asked as he scanned Gengar with his Rotom Phone's Pokédex.
"Gengar, the Shadow Pokémon. A Ghost and Poison type." Goh's Rotom Phone said. "Gengar can pass through dimensions and appear almost anywhere. Since Gengar absorbs any warmth around it, the temperature suddenly drops wherever it appears."
Gengar launched Shadow Ball at them.
"Quick Pikachu, use Iron Tail!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu knocked the Shadow Ball away with Iron Tail.
Gengar then used Psychic and made all the doors and objects move around the area.
Goh started freaking out as Scorbunny kicked the floating stuff away.
Leaf ducked as Bulbasaur used her vines to whack all the objects away from her.
"Now, use Thunderbolt!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu used Thunderbolt and blasted Gengar up into the ceiling.
The Shadow Pokémon disappeared, causing all of the floating stuff to fall down.
Yamper continued barking angrily.

Ash, Goh, Leaf, Pikachu, Scorbunny, Bulbasaur and Yamper started searching for Gengar.
"Gengar!" Ash shouted.
"Gengar!" Goh called out.
"Gengar!" Leaf said loudly.
"Where could Gengar have gotten off to?" Ash asked.
"Who knows?" Leaf replied. "It could be anywhere."
"Guys, come on!" Goh stated. "Let's have a race to see who catches Gengar first!"
"Awesome!" Ash said excitedly. "Let's do it!"
"I'm totally okay with that!" Leaf said confidently.
Pikachu and Yamper sniffed the floor before they looked up and saw Gengar appear.
"Gengar!" Gengar chuckled.
"There it is!" Goh exclaimed as he brought out a Pokeball. "Now Pokeball, let's go!"
Goh threw the Pokeball at Gengar, who sent it back with Psychic and caused it to slam into Goh's face.
Goh yelled out and threw hundreds of Pokeballs at Gengar, but the Shadow Pokémon blocked all of them.
"That didn't work." Goh said, exhausted.
Gengar made it's escape and was heading straight towards Mr Mime.
"Hey Mimey, watch out!" Ash warned.
Mr Mime looked and was suddenly passed by Gengar, causing him to drop the towels he was carrying.
Mr Mime quickly used Psychic to catch the towels and places them all in his hands again.
"Great!" Goh complemented as he and the others ran past Mr Mime.
"Nice!" Ash added.
"Good job, Mr Mime!" Leaf said kindly.
Mr Mime gave a sly smile.
Gengar was suddenly cornered by the Research Trio as Yamper barked at it.
The Ghost/Poison looked at Ash, Goh and Leaf in the respected order before using Shadow Ball.
"Pikachu, use Iron Tail!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu used Iron Tail and split the Shadow Ball in half.
Gengar then charged forward and got ready to hit Pikachu with Ice Punch.
"Quick, dodge it!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu jumped out of the way and the attack hit Yamper instead, freeing him solid.
Ash, Goh and Leaf gasped in shock.
"Hey Scorbunny, can you help him?" Goh asked his partner.
"Scor." Scorbunny replied.
He stepped on Yamper and rapidly ran on his frozen body, causing flames to appear on his feet and melt the ice.
Yamper jumped into the air cried out in pain as he butt was set on fire.
Ash, Goh and Leaf clapped at Scorbunny, who looked up proudly.
Gengar glared and fired another Shadow Ball.
"Bulbasaur, use Energy Ball!" Leaf ordered.
Bulbasaur fired Energy Ball and created a smoke cloud when it made contact with the Shadow Ball.
Gengar frowned and escaped from them again.
The Research Trio, their Pokémon and Yamper were engulfed by the smoke.

After getting out of the smoke, the Research Trio got back to looking for Gengar.
They were all looking in the dinning room.
"Hey!" Goh called out. "Gengar?"
"Make sure you stay alert." Ash told his friends. "That Gengar's powerful!"
"Sure thing, Ash." Leaf replied with a nod.
"Pika Pika." Pikachu said to Scorbunny and Bulbasaur.
"Scor scor." Scorbunny said with a confident smile.
"Bulba Bulba." Bulbasaur added.
Yamper heard the doors and ran over to the lobby while barking happily.

In the lobby, Chloe had just come back from school.
"I'm back, everyone." Chloe said with a sigh.
Unknown to her, Gengar was watching her from the walls.
Yamper ran up to Chloe with a happy look on his face.
"Hi, Yamper." Chloe chuckled as Yamper stood on two feet and smiled at her. "Alright, alright."
Gengar then turned visible and came out of the walls.
Yamper saw the Shadow Pokémon and growled at it.
Chloe looked behind her and saw Gengar launch Shadow Ball, causing her to gasp in shock.
Yamper jumped in front of her protectively and took the hit, sending him crashing onto the floor.
"Yamper!" Chloe gasped as she picked up the Puppy Pokémon.
Chloe tried running away, but Gengar blocked her path.
She tried going the other way, only for the Ghost/Poison type to appear in front of her again.
Ash, Goh and Leaf arrived and saw Gengar getting ready to attack Chloe with Shadow Ball.
"Quick Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu fired Thunderbolt and blasted the Shadow Ball away from Chloe.
Chloe and Gengar saw the Research Trio running up to them before the Shadow Pokémon lifted them and their Pokémon up with Psychic.
Yamper recovered and jumped out of Chloe's arms before glaring at Gengar.
"Wait, Yamper!" Chloe told him, not wanting the Electric type to get hurt again.
Yamper continued glaring at Gengar.
Ash, Goh and Leaf watched in awe.
Professor Cerise, Ren and Chrysa arrived and gasped when they saw what was going on.
"Yamper, use Spark now!" Professor Cerise ordered.
Yamper ignored and kept glaring at Gengar.
"Professor, I don't think he's listening to you!" Ren said nervously.
"He's forgetting everything else and concentrating on protecting Chloe." Chrysa said.
Professor gasped in realisation.
"Quick Chloe, tell Yamper to use Spark against Gengar!" Professor Cerise called out.
Chloe looked back in surprise.
"If you give the command, Yamper will listen!" Professor Cerise told her.
"I've never done that before!" Chloe said, unsure.
"At this moment, Yamper is dedicated to protecting you!" Professor Cerise said sternly.
Chloe looked back at Yamper and remembered what her farther said to her this morning.
"The point is that you're the most important person to Yamper in this household, and it shows more affection for you than for anyone else."
Ash, Goh, Leaf, Pikachu, Scorbunny and Bulbasaur shouted out and encouraged Chloe to give the command.
"Gengar!" Gengar cackled.
Chloe looked at Yamper in silent before she put on a confident look.
"Alright Yamper, use Spark!" Chloe ordered.
Yamper charged at Ganger while coated in electricity as the Shadow Pokémon fired Shadow Ball at him.
Yamper powered right through the Ghost type attack and tackled Gengar, sending it out of the building.
The Psychic effects wore off and Ash, Goh, Leaf and their partners crashed onto the floor before sitting back up.
"You did it!" Leaf said with a big smile
"Yeah, Yamper!" Ash remarked. "What an attack!"
"Wow, Chloe!" Goh said, amazed.
Professor Cerise and Chrysa smiled proudly, while Ren sighed in relief.
"Oh, Yamper!" Chloe said sweetly.
Yamper barked happily at Chloe as the Vermilion City girl hugged the Electric type, making her laugh.

At night, Ash, Goh and Leaf were in their beds.
"That Gengar was really strong, wasn't it?" Ash asked while smiling.
"Definitely." Leaf replied.
"Yeah, and you know I really wanna catch it, too!" Goh told his friends.
"Scorbunny!" Scorbunny said happily.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu replied.
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said.
"Then the next time we see it, we'll have another competition!" Ash stated.
"Sure!" Goh agreed.
"Right!" Leaf added.
