Ash vs. The Champion of Galar
"We'll have a 6 on 6 Pokemon battle with substitutions. Since this is not an official league battle, Alex's title will not be on the line," Paul exclaimed. "Since Alex Peters, Champion of the Galar Region is our guest, he gets the first move. Let me remind you Alex, that we're not on any Power Spots so you're not going to be able to Dynamax your Pokemon."
"Very funny Paul," The Champion said, pulling a pokeball off his belt. "But I can battle just fine without Dynamaxing. Go, Dragapult!" From the pokeball appeared the same Pokemon that carried Alex all the way to the Kanto Region for a considerable amount of time. The Dragon/Ghost type Pokemon shook its body and let out a screech.
"Just because your title isn't on the line doesn't mean I'm holding back," Ash said. "Let's go Decidueye!" The tall owl Pokemon flew through the sky and circled its opponent. It then touched down on the ground and extended its wings in front of its trainer.
"Dragapult, use Shadow Ball!"
"Decidueye, use Spirit Shackle!"
Dragapult formed a large purple and grey ball in its mouth and sent it flying towards Decidueye. Before it could hit, Decidueye drew an arrow from its feathers and fired it at the oncoming attack, slicing the sphere in two and landing in the shadow underneath Dragapult.
"Dragapult, use Dragon Pulse!"
"Decidueye, use Leaf Storm!"
The Pseudo-legendary from Galar opened its mouth wide and fried off a purple and blue colored beam straight at Decidueye. From its cloak, Decidueye kicked up a flurry of leaves and shot them at the opponent. The two attacks once again met in the middle, but the Leaf Storm was overpowered.
"Decidueye, Shadow Sneak and then use Leaf Blade!" Ash called. His Pokemon rose into the air as it dove into the shadows below, dodging the attack. The shadow on the ground, with striking yellow eyes, made its way across the field toward Dragapult. Decidueye leaped from Shadow, elongating its wing to become a bright green sword. It slashed the dragon type Pokemon across the chest. When Decidueye turned to its opponent, it was nowhere to be seen. Popping out of the Decidueye's own shadow below was the large head of the Dragon/Ghost type.
"Use Dragon Darts!" Alex called out to his Pokemon. Dragapult grinned wide and shot two missiles (two Dreepys, its pre-evolution) which hit Decidueye. Decidueye flew backwards, landing in front of Ash, but quickly rose back to its feet and brushed the dust off of itself with one arm.
"Decidueye, return! Lucario, may the Aura guide you!" Ash said, returning his Alola starter. Lucario entered the field and landed kneeling with one paw on the ground. It sent out a wave of Aura around it as it rose to its feet forming a long bone staff made of Aura.
Alexa took out Hitmonlee, Farfetch'd and Riolu from their Pokeballs. "I want you guys to keep an eye on Ash and Alex's match. I'm sure there's a thing or two we can all learn from this battle," Alexa said. All of her Pokemon nodded and focused on the battle.
Lucario dashed across the field with its staff in hand, dodging Dreepy after Dreepy. It sprinted quickly at its opponent and hit it several times in the head and torso. Dragapult stumbled backwards a bit, but caught its balance.
"Dragapult use U-Turn!" Alex called. Dragapult covered itself in green light and flew at Lucario and slammed into it. When it went to return to the ball however, it was unable to. Still embedded in the ground was Decidueye's arrow, holding the Pokemon's shadow in place, making it impossible to escape the battle.
"Lucario, use Bone Club!" Ash yelled. Lucario broke its staff into two pieces and sent both spinning towards Dragapult. The Pokemon was hit by both clubs and fell to the ground unconscious.
"Dragapult is unable to battle!" Paul said. "Alex, choose your next Pokemon."
"Preventing me from escaping the battle?" Alex said. "You have learned a thing or two since the last time we met. Grimmsnarl, come on out!" Entering the field was a hulking goblin-like Pokemon with a green face, a long pointed nose, and black hair that covered its entire body. The Pokemon flexed its muscles and let out a roar.
"Lucario, use Close Combat!" Ash called.
"Grimmsnarl, use Circle Throw!" Alex called. Lucario dashed across the field and hit Grimmsnarl with many punches, from its chest up to its face. When Lucario had finished, Grimmsnarl looked at it with a face of rage as it charged forward and grabbed onto Lucario. Grimmsnarl's eyes glowed bright red and it spun in a circle and threw Lucario back at its trainer. Lucario was sent back into its Pokeball as Ash's Snorlax was brought out onto the battlefield.
"Snorlax?!" Ash yelled. "We can work with this! Use Ice Punch!" Snorlax's fist glowed light blue as it charged across the field. Grimmsnarl leaped to the side, but not before Snorlax hit its leg, freezing it to the ground.
"Snorlax, use Hyper Beam!" Ash called.
"Grimmsnarl, break free and use Sucker Punch."
Snorlax began charging a large orange beam in its mouth to fire off at its opponent. Grimmsnarl kicked its leg forward, breaking free from the ice and ran across the field on all fours. It jumped in front of Snorlax and punched it in the lower jaw, causing the Hyper Beam to be fired straight into the air.
"Grimmsnarl, use Play Rough!"
"Snorlax, use Mega Punch!"
Both Pokemon ran across the field at each other and exchanged blows in the center of the field. Grimmsnarl sent a flurry of punches and kicks at Snorlax, which were blocked by Snorlax's thick forearms. Snorlax retaliated by sending a powerful punch to Grimmsnarl's face. Grimmsnarl fell onto its hands and knees.
"Grimmsnarl use False Surrender!" Alex called. His goblin-like Pokemon lifted its head at Snorlax and made a horrifying face. It ran forward, sending thick streams of hair off at Snorlax. Snorlax stumbled backwards a bit, as Grimmsnarl jumped into the air and hit it with another Sucker Punch. Snorlax was dazed, but standing on two feet. Grimmsnarl then appeared behind the Pokemon and lifted it high into the air, gorilla pressing it. Alexa and Riolu's eyes widened at the sight of such a heavy Pokemon being lifted off the ground. Grimmsnarl then threw Snorlax onto its back. When it crashed into the ground it attempted to rise once more, but the collapsed onto the ground and fainted.
"Snorlax is unable to battle!" Paul said. "Ash, please choose your next Pokemon."
"That Grimmsnarl really is something!" Ross said. "I've never seen a Pokemon manhandle a Snorlax in battle like that!"
"Grimmsnarl is a Pokemon that can look intimidating, and have the strength to back it up," Alexa said. "I've always wanted one ever since I saw Alex use his against my bro the first time... But then again, there's a lot of Pokemon that I want to add to my team someday."
"Infernape, may the Aura guide you!" Ash said, throwing out the fire type Sinnoh starter.
"Grimmsnarl return!" Alex said. "Go Rillaboom!" In place of the gremlin-like Pokemon came a large, dark brown gorilla with a head full of leafy hair. On its back was a large drum, and in its hands were two drumsticks.
"Infernape, use Flame Wheel!"
"Rillaboom, use Boomburst!"
Infernape sprang forward and enveloped itself in fire. It then began rolling towards Rillaboom at a fast pace. Rillaboom took its drum off of its back and then began hitting each side with its drumsticks, sending a powerful soundwave at Infernape. Infernape stopped in its tracks and clasped its hands over its ears and fell to its knees.
"Infernape, use Flamethrower!"
"Rillaboom, keep it up! Then use Drum Beating!"
Infernape was unable to hear its trainer due to the intense noise so it did not make any moves. Rillaboom, however, changed the rhythm on its drum. Two large roots made their way across the battlefield and struck Infernape, sending him backwards a few feet. Infernape regained its footing and began panting.
"Rillaboom, use Boomburst again!"
"Infernape, you know what to do!" Ash said. His Pokemon looked back at him and nodded. Once again, Rillaboom began banging on its drum sending another powerful soundwave at its opponent. Infernape jumped into the air and dug into the ground, dodging the attack.
"Rillaboom, use Drum Beating to get Infernape above ground!" Rillaboom once again changed the rhythm of its drum, sending two more roots through the ground in an attempt to weed out Infernape. Before the roots were able to find him, Infernape used Flare Blitz underground, which caused the roots to burn up, and the ground below Rillaboom to cave in. Infernape jumped from the ground below and ignited its fists on fire.
"Use Blazing Combat, Infernape!" Ash called. His Pokemon sent its flaming fists forward and began punching the Gorilla Pokemon. Rillaboom then grabbed its drum and held it up, using it as a shield to block the oncoming attack. It swung its drum and cracked Infernape in the head with it, causing Infernape to halt its attack. Rillaboom slung its drum back onto its back and put its drumsticks into its leafy head of hair. Rillaboom put up its hand and moved its fingers in a way to say 'come and get some.' Infernape stood on its two feet and let out a screech as the flame on its head grew in size and intensified in heat.
"Woah," Alex said, shielding his eyes. "I've never seen a Blaze ability that powerful. We better take it out quickly, Rillaboom."
"Good luck with that! Infernape use Flare Blitz!"
Infernape enveloped itself in fire and flew forward slamming into Rillaboom's chest. In a flurry of fiery punches and kicks, Infernape managed to bring Rillaboom to the brink of fainting. When Infernape was caught off guard however, Rillaboom wrapped its muscular arms around Infernape and squeezed it tightly. Before it could make any sort of attack, Infernape ignited its body on fire once again in a Flare Blitz, which transitioned from a bright orange to a brilliant blue. Rillaboom let go of Infernape and fell to the ground. Infernape stood tall over its foe, spread out its arms, and let out a victory cry.
"Rillaboom is unable to battle!" Paul said as Alex returned his starter. "Alex, please choose your next Pokemon."
"Coalossal, give me a hand!" Alex said throwing out his fire and rock type behemoth.
"What do you say, Infernape?" Ash said. "Do you need a break?"
'If I'm gonna go down,' Infernape said. 'I'm going out on my own terms.' Infernape ignited its fists on fire once more and flew across the field, slamming into Coalossal. The fighting type aspect of Blazing Combat was very effective, but after a few hits Coalossal had used Protect, shielding it from the oncoming attack.
"Great work Coalossal!" Alex said. "Now take him out with Ancient Power!"
Coalossal stomped on the ground as several large boulders rose and slammed into Infernape. Infernape fell forwards onto the ground. From the sidelines, Riolu cheered on its fellow fighting type Pokemon to get back up and keep fighting.
"Come on Infernape!" Ash called. "I know you still have some fight left in you!"
Infernape put its left hand on the ground, followed by its right and pushed itself off the ground and back onto its feet. Panting heavily, it turned towards Ash and nodded its head.
"Coalossal use Protect!" Alex's Pokemon made out of stone crossed its arms, prepared to protect itself with a blue shield.
"Infernape... use Rest!"
"Rest?!" Alex said. Infernape closed its eyes, hit the ground and fell asleep, fully restoring its health. The intense flame on Infernape's head returned to its normal size, as Infernape's Blaze ability calmed down. Infernape then pulled out a berry, consumed it and woke back up. Infernape pushed off the ground, and kicked back up onto its feet, feeling fully energized.
"That was an incredible move!" May said. "Infernape's Blaze made it strong enough to take out Rillaboom, and also do a lot of damage to Coalossal, while getting fully healed!"
"What a strategy," Alexa said. "Not only does he hit hard, but he also made sure that Infernape still had enough energy to battle even more Pokemon. He also perfectly timed it with when Coalossal was going to use Protect!"
"If you thought we were going down that easily, you're wrong, Alex!" Ash said.
"The same goes for us, friend," Alex called. Standing in front of him, Coalossal began to glow with a faint blue light. "My Coalossal's ability Steam Engine makes it so that its speed is increased after its hit by fire type attacks. I think it's safe to say that he is as fast as your Infernape now!"
"Then let's give it everything we've got!" Ash said in an excited tone. "Infernape, use Mach Punch!"
"Coalossal, use Stone Edge!"
Infernape lunged forward with a glowing fist, but before it could hit its foe several large, jagged rocks appeared from the ground below. Coalossal dragged one foot across the ground, causing even more protruding rocks to appear from the earth, which struck Infernape.
Infernape flew backwards, but Ash stuck out its pokeball into the air. "Infernape, return!" Ash yelled, recalling his Pokemon. "New plan."
Taking the field once more was Ash's Lucario. Ash rolled up his sleeve and activated his Mega Ring, in order to mega evolve Lucario. Lucario emerged from the rock like substance in its Mega form. It then formed its signature dual-bone staff in each hand, and readied itself for battle.
"Coalossal use Rock Blast!" Alex called to his Pokemon.
"Lucario, use Bone Club!" Ash called in return.
From its mouth, Coalossal fired off a barrage of large stones at its opponent, who used its weapons to destroy every attack sent its way. Lucario made a dash towards its opponent, hitting it across the head and torso, and then using its clubs to sweep the large Pokemons feet out from under it.
"Now use Iron Tail!" Ash called. Ash's Pokemon nodded and jumped high into the air with its tail glowing silver. The Aura Pokemon did a front flip, smashing its tail into its grounded opponent. Bashing it on the head, the coal behemoth crumpled to the ground.
"Coalossal is unable to battle!" Paul announced. "Alex, please choose your next Pokemon."
"Hey Alexa, Farfetch'd," Alex said, turning to the trainer and the Pokemon he had gifted her. "You're going to like this guy!" He threw his next pokeball into the air and appearing on the field was a pristine white Sirfetch'd. The bird carried one long leek that acted as a lance/sword, and a shield in the other hand. The bird smirked and let out a quacking sound as its eyes glowed orange. The bird aimed its large sword at Ash's Lucario, as an extreme amount of meteoric energy surrounded the bird. Sirfetch'd was raised off the ground, and shot like a cannonball forward at Lucario. Sirfetch'd struck Lucario in the chest with the sword causing a mass explosion to occur on the field. Ash's Mega Lucario dropped to its knees and fainted. The Pokemon then reverted back to its original form.
"Lucario is unable to battle!" Paul exclaimed. "Ash, please choose your next Pokemon."
Ash stood with wide eyes, as one of his best fighters had been taken out by that one move. "What was that!" Alexa shouted.
"That my friend was Meteor Assault," Alex said. "Only Sirfetch'ds who have experienced many battles can attain the power necessary to perform this move."
"That was crazy!" Alexa said looking at her newest Pokemon. "Do you think you're gonna learn that move some day?" The Pokemon looked back onto the field and understood it would need to put in a lot of work, but it was willing to become strong enough to learn such a powerful move.
'Fetch'd,' The Pokemon said, keeping a serious face, and nodding its head.
"Your Sirfetch'd might be a pretty good swordsman," Ash said. "But I've got a newly evolved Pokemon I want to take for a test run." Ash threw a pokeball into the air and an electric surge of energy burst out of the ball. The large bolt of electricity shot across the field and hit Alex's Pokemon, who was left drained of its energy after using Meteor Assault.
Sirfetch'd fell to the ground, electricity coursing over its body. Zipping through the air back to its trainer was an Alolan Raichu. "Woah!" Ritchie called. "When did you have time to go to Alola and evolve your Pikachu?"
"I sent it over to Professor Elm since he's stationed there," Ash explained. "My little buddy here decided that he wanted to access his full potential and wanted to evolve." Raichu floated next to Ash and he scratched its cheek. He smiled at his Pokemon. He thought back to his uncertain feeling about owning something from the Pikachu line ever since his original partner betrayed him, but ever since Pichu had saved Ash at the Warehouse Battle, Ash felt a strong love for the Pokemon. He was excited to learn the new potential he had as an Alolan Raichu.
"Raichu, use Volt Tackle!" Ash said.
"Sirfetch'd, protect yourself!" Alex called.
Ash's Pokemon flew on its board-like tail and charged its body with electricity. Sirfetch'd, on the other hand was paralyzed by the first attack and slowly brought its shield up in front of it. Raichu eventually collided with Sirfetch'd's shield, and was thrown off course. Raichu skidded across the ground to the left of the knight-like Pokemon. Sirfetch'd rose back up to its feet and clanged its leek-sword against its shield calling for battle. Raichu then jumped back onto its tail and surfed back over towards its opponent.
"Sirfetch'd, use Steel Wing!"
"Raichu, use Psychic!"
While Raichu flew across the field, its eyes glowed purple which sent several Psychic waves at its opponent, but Sirfetch'd kept its feet planted in the ground and held up its shield to resist the oncoming attack. Sirfetch'd on the other hand, stuck out its sword carrying wing. As it did, it was enveloped in a shiny, metallic glow. Sirfetch'd lunged forward and clotheslined Raichu out of mid air. Both Pokemon were back down on the ground, but then popped back up ready to do battle once again.
"Take him head one Raichu!" Ash said.
"Get your shield up Sirfetch'd!" Alex called.
Ash's Raichu once again surged forward across the battlefield towards its opponent. Sirfetch'd, who seemed to be unaffected by the paralysis this turn raised its shield ready to knock Raichu off course once again. Raichu continued head on until it was a foot away from Sirfetch'd, where it pushed up off of its board and did a front flip, touching down on the ground behind it. Raichu charged its Thunderbolt and fired it off, electrocuting Sirfetch'd. The bird Pokemon then fell to the ground.
"Sirfetch'd is unable to battle!" Paul said. "Alex, please choose your next Pokemon."
"That's pretty impressive, Ash. I've never seen an Alolan Raichu battle quite like that," Alex pulled his next Pokeball off his belt and gave it a light toss in the air, and caught it in his hand. He threw the ball onto the field and popping out once more was Alex's gruesome Grimmsnarl. This Pokemon had certainly made an impact on Ash early on after it took out his Snorlax with ease.
"Raichu, hit that thing with a Thunderbolt!" Ash called.
"Grimmsnarl, head for the trees!" Alex said.
Raichu fired off a bolt of electricity, but Grimmsnarl dodged and made a run towards the woods. "Shall we take this off the normal playing field Ash?" Alex said chasing after his Pokemon.
"You are so on!" Ash said as he and Raichu took off after Grimmsnarl and its trainer. Ash and his teammate entered the forest and lost sight of Grimmsnarl and The Galar Champion. Raichu flew towards the tops of the trees in order to spot the foe on the ground, however it was caught in midair after Grimmsnarl swung down from a branch to attack it. Grimmsnarl hit Raichu with a Sucker Punch causing it to fall onto the ground.
"Now use False Surrender!" Alex called, revealing himself to Ash. His goblin-like Pokemon let out a low growl and shot a stream of hair off its arm and onto a tree. The Pokemon then swung on its hair, swinging around the tree, and shooting into the air. From the air, Grimsnarl pulled its arm back and shot forward another stream of black hair off its body. The attack made contact with Raichu, which wrapped around it and dragged it into Grimmsnarl's possession.
"Raichu, use Psychic on the ground beneath Grimmsnarl!" Ash called.
"Use Hammer Arm, Grimmsnarl!"
Raichu's eyes glowed purple, but before it could fire its attack on the ground below, it was grabbed out of mid air and tossed into the sky by Grimmsnarl. Grimmsnarl jumped into the air and met the Pokemon, swinging its giant arm down onto the Pokemon. Raichu hit the ground and was rendered unconscious.
Ash returned his Pokemon to its Pokeball. "That was an amazing first battle. I can't wait to see how much further we can go." Ash pulled his next Pokeball off his belt and threw it onto the field. Towering over the hulking monster that was Alex's Grimmsnarl was none other than the mythical Pokemon, Melmetal. The large Pokemon spun its upper half around in order to wave at its trainer, who it was excited to see once more.
"I'm happy to see you too!" Ash called. He then noticed Grimmsnarl behind the Steel type preparing its next attack. "Heads up!"
Grimmsnarl jumped towards Melmetal while its back was turned, however Melmetal twisted its body back around, catching Grimmsnarl out of the air with a Double Iron Bash.
Grimmsnarl recovered quickly from the attack and dashed across the field. It jumped into the air and fired off a stream of hair, covering one of Melmetal's fists. The two Pokemon met in the middle and had a test of strength. Melmetal was the taller of the two, but in terms of pound for pound strength Grimmsnarl had the advantage. Melmetal broke free of Grimmsnarl's grip and swung its large hand which was the shape of a bolt down onto the foe.
"Grimmsnarl, use Hammer Arm!"
"Melmetal, use Steel Beam!"
Grimmsnarl lunged forward at Ash's Mythical Pokemon and bashed it with its right arm. Melmetal flew backwards and rolled on the ground, but gained its footing once more. Lifting itself off the ground, Melmetal fired a large metallic beam from its eye, which shot across the field and hit Grimmsnarl. Grimmsnarl, however, crossed its arms and took the blast full on, slowly moving towards Melmetal against its attack. Melmetal then intensified the power of its Steel Beam, which caused Grimmsnarl to have a shocked expression on its face as it was fully enveloped in the silver light. Melmetal finally ended its attack, which left Grimmsnarl completely drained of its energy. The Dark/Fairy type fell forward, face planting on the ground.
"Grimmsnarl is unable to battle!" Paul said with the rest of the crowd tailing him, catching up with the two trainers in the forest.
"Looks like Alex is down to his last Pokemon!" Ross said. "And Ash still has Melmetal, Decidueye and Infernape left! He's got this in the bag."
"Don't be too sure about that," Alexa said. "This last guy is a doozy."
"Is it gonna be his Urshifu?" Ritchie asked, refering to Alex's Legendary Kung-Fu Bear Pokemon. "Or his Lucario?"
"Neither," Alexa said, certain of the Professor's final Pokemon. "It's his Ace Pokemon."
Alex took his final pokeball, a Luxury Ball, off his belt. "I'm sure you remember this guy!"
"How could I forget? The two of you swept the floor with me back at the Galar League. Only difference is that you can't Gigantamax him here," Ash replied.
"He's just as good without it," Alex said, throwing the Luxury ball high into the air. "Go, Toxtricity!"
The Poison/Electric type took the field and strummed across its chest sending electric waves across the field. The dark purple and yellow Pokemon, defined by its mohawk made out of electricity stuck out its tongue as it strummed a rocking tune on its chest.
"While Alex's first Pokemon was a Grookey," Alexa informed Ross. "Toxtricity is famous for being Alex's best Pokemon. It's electric Punk Rock battling style made it one of the greatest battlers in the world. Ash is lucky that Alex can't Gigantamax it."
"Woah," Ross said. "I've never seen that Pokemon before."
"Melmetal, use Double Iron Bash!" Ash exclaimed.
"Toxtricity, use your Dual Punch combo!"
Melmetal shot across the field spinning the upper half of its body, preparing to bash its opponent. Toxtricity charged the oncoming behemoth head on, sliding on its knees to avoid its arms. Toxtricity spun on one arm, pushing itself back upright behind the Pokemon. It then clenched both of its fists igniting one in flames and the other in an orange glow. It then swung its fists, connecting with Melmetal both times. The attack was super effective on Melmetal.
"That was Fire Punch and Drain Punch at the same time!" Ash shouted. "You guys have learned some new tricks."
"You know it mate," Alex said. "We took a page out of your book and learned a few combo moves. Now Toxtricity, use Overdrive!" The Electric/Poison type strummed its chest, sending violent electrical currents flying across the field hitting Ash's steel type. The Pokemon began moving in sporadic motions as it was being electrocuted. Melmetal keeled over, exhausted from the attack.
"Bet you weren't expecting that," Alex said. Before any other attack could be uttered, Melmetal swung its right fist forward which flew across the field, slamming into Toxtricity. The Pokemon grabbed onto its fist, however, and caught a ride back to its attacker.
"Alright Toxtricity, use Discharge!" Alex called. Still holding onto Melmetal's fist, Toxtricity let out a cry as it released a large amount of electricity it had been storing in its body. Toxtricity released its grip and the towering Melmetal fell over backwards and hit the ground.
"Melmetal is unable to battle!" Paul said. "Ash, please choose your next Pokemon."
Ash returned his Mythical Pokemon and sent out his Decidueye once more. Now that they were battling in a forest, Ash figured that Decidueye had a significant terrain advantage. Decidueye flew high over Toxtricity and circled over the Pokemon. It then rested in a branch high up in the trees.
"Toxtricity, use Venoshock!" Alex called pointing at Decidueye.
"Decidueye, jump into the trees for cover! Then use Leaf Blade!" Ash called in return.
From its mouth, Toxtricity sent a large stream of poison at Decidueye who was still perched on the branch. Decidueye pushed up, dodging the attack and concealed itself in the foliage above. Toxtricity looked up into the trees above, uncertain of where its opponent went. Before it could act, Decidueye flew out of a tree behind Toxtricity with a long green blade protruding from the tip of its wing and slashed Toxtricity across the back, causing it to fall forwards. Decidueye continued flying, hiding in the tree cover once again. Toxtricity rolled onto its back, put its weight on its hands and kicked up off the ground.
"We have to find out where Decidueye is," Alex said. "Toxtricity, use Boomburst up into the trees!"
"Spoiler alert, pal," Ash said. "Decidueye is a Ghost type and will be unaffected."
"We're not aiming for Decidueye."
Toxtricity sent a large burst of sound flying directly up into the leaves above which blew a large hole in the tree cover. Toxtricity followed this up with several more Boomburst attacks, which cleared even more holes in the foliage above. Eventually, Toxtricity let off one more Boomburst, which hit the leaves, revealing Decidueye who was unaffected by the move.
"Now use Venoshock!" Alex called.
"Dive into the shadows Decidueye!" Ash called.
Toxtricity spat a stream of poisonous liquid at Decidueye, who dodged that attack as it dove head first into the ground below, in order to phase into the shadows. Toxtricity, however, appeared below the owl Pokemon and spun in place, while using its Venoshock attack causing Decidueye to fly straight down into the whirlpool of poison it had created. When the attack subsided, Toxtricity stood tall over an unconscious Decidueye.
"That move was awesome!" Dawn said to May. "That move looked like something right out of a Pokemon contest!"
"It sure did," May exclaimed at the sight of it. "Its technique! Its grace! Its beauty! Amazing!"
"Decidueye is unable to battle," Paul declared. "Ash, you're now down to your last Pokemon."
Author's Note: Alex proved to be no pushover. There's a reason why he's the Champion of Galar. Next Chapter: Infernape vs. Toxtricity.
