Just a reminder this is the same day as chapter 7. Enjoy!

Hiccup walked away from the campus to reach the equipment room, he had to get fitted to be able to practice. Gobber was the equipment manager and he already had the perfect size for hiccup. Basically the smallest everything he could find.

It was kind of embarrassing he had to wear the smallest stuff, he didn't feel right. His helmet felt extremely heavy on him as he walked around and he didn't even own cleets yet. The shoulder pads stabbed into his little chest which he didn't like and the padded pants were hot and sweaty, which he wasn't used to being in that state.

"Alright hiccup, you're going to have to start off with just your helmet for three days, then add the shoulder pads for three days, then finally add the pants for three days. This is to make sure you can adjust to the weight and heat. Trust me, even though it's cold out side, you can still be very dehydrated. I learned that the hard way."

"Okay Gobber is there anything else I need to know?" Hiccup replied with a deadpanned expression on his face.

"Hiccup, don't be worried or anxious. You'll get the hang of it. And if you don't, then you'll do just fine on the bench." Gobber said with a smile while walking away to his office.

"Wow that's helpful as ever." Hiccup said rolling his eyes. Gobber clearly was trying to make him feel better, but was oblivious to how he made hiccup feel.

"See ya lass. Try not to break any- never mind!" Gobber yelled as hiccup closed the door.

Hiccup began to jog so he wouldn't be more late for practice than he already was. His dad wouldn't be his coach because he was on the freshmen team but he still didn't want to disappoint anybody.

As he was jogging he heard whistles and yelling hiccup wasn't really sure if he was ready for something like this. He hoped he could just stand to the side and not be involved.

As hiccup reached the entrance of the stadium he saw the players in there practice jerseys. Some had just got fitted and had helmets on while other had full gear on. He walked up to the coach standing near the side.

"Where is the freshman team?"

"The freshman te- heyyy you?! Aren't you coach haddocks son?" The coach said with a smile.

"Yep that's me, the resemblance is remarkable huh.." hiccup said sarcastically.

The coach looked back and forth and shook his head "aight the freshman team is at the practice field, go out the stadium and keep going left. You make it."

Hiccup took the message and walked back around outside the stadium. He realized he was probably late so he started to jog. About 30 seconds went by and he began to be able to see the practice field. There were students wearing mostly helmets while some had their shoulder pads on, none had full gear though.

Hiccup walked through the gate and one of the coaches saw him and started to walk towards him.

"Is that little haddock I see?"

Hiccup nodded slowly.

"Well my name is coach Spitelout, over there is coach gremlin, and the other is coach ruford. come on now we have practice to do go get in line."

Hiccup stood in line next to some kids he hadn't seen before. The only person he knew playing football was snotlo- Oh no

"Is that HICCUP? Playing football? Ha! Who would've though-"

"Alright shut up, today we're going to be conditioning so put on your helmets and stand on the line" one of the coaches yelled.

Hiccup was sort of glad they didn't make him run any plays or hit anybody. Thor knows he'd get rocked the first time he hit anybody. He didn't drink a lot of water today but it didn't matter that much, right?

Wrong

Their job was to run across the field and run back in a certain time. And if they didn't get that time, they had to do push-ups. This has got to be the worst day in history.

Hiccup wanted to puke by the third time. His mouth was as dry as a desert and his legs were burning. By the time he had to run a fourth time hiccup got half way and dropped on his knees and threw up his lunch.

Most of the team went along without him. He could hear some students talking about him. Mostly Snotlout laughing it up. Spitelout blew the whistle and walked towards hiccup.

"You alright boy-o? You dropped so fast it looked like you hadn't worked out at least 5 times in your life!" Spitelout said helping hiccup stand.

That's because you're right. Hiccup said in his head. Not wanting to embarrass himself anymore, he simply just said, "I didn't get a lot of water today. That's all"

"You go sit down and comeback when your ready" Spitelout said returning to the team.

Hiccup ended up returning near the end and finishing out strong. His legs were like jelly and he felt like his lungs were being flattened. He had gone to the locker room to see Snotlout and Dagur getting dressed.

"Well if it isnt mr.let me skin conditioning day!" Snotlout said mad he got to skip mostly the entire practice.

"Leave him be Snotlout the kid hasn't worked out in his life! Besides you were the same the first couple practices." Dagur shot back.

"Whatever who cares anyway why are you even doing football?" Snotlout said pointing a finger at hiccup.

"Honestly my dad, it was my choice, but then Again it wasn't." Hiccup said.

"That makes not sense but I don't care. Snotlout Is outlout." He said leaving the locker room leaving hiccup alone.

After hiccup showered and got dressed he headed for his dads office. When he got there he realized the office door was locked but he heard a car honking in the parking lot which was his dads.

Hiccup got in the backseat and looked out the window when his dad started.

"So how was your first practice son?"

Hiccup wasn't really expecting a question, but it hit him the only reason his is talking to him is because he's doing football. Hiccup ignored his thoughts and replied with a simple "it was fine"

"That's good son. I knew you would enjoy it. Just wait until you get hit for the first time. What a feeling!" Stoick said mid laugh.

Yeah what a feeling, hiccup rolled his eyes and closed his eyes for the rest of the ride home.

When they arrived at his house hiccup quickly ran upstairs and shut his door. He just wanted to lay on his bed and not do anything because his legs were about to fall off.

Hiccup was drifting off in sleep until he heard his phone vibrate next to him. Hiccup didn't even look at the messenger he just quickly sent a "go away fishlegs im sleeping" and laid back down.

Again his phone vibrated and he groaned. Seriously fishlegs, now? Hiccup thought as he picked up his phone and read the message,

"Fishlegs? This is Astrid?"

Hiccups eyes widened, Astrid was texting him? How? Then he remembered that she gave him her number that one class period. Hiccup realizing he was taking too long to respond and quickly said,

"Oh my bad I wasn't looking,what's up?"

Astrid took a while to respond but when she did hiccup quickly picked up his phone.

"Well nothing but I just wanted to know where you were after school today?"

Oh crap, I forgot... hiccup felt guilty and he felt sad he left them for football. He probably was sure excuses weren't going to work that time so he just went straight forward.

"Yeahhhh about that, um my dad sort of made me do football..."

Omg what a cliff hanger!!!! I'm kidding.

But yeah I'm gonna cut it like this and next chapter will finish this scene.

Thank you if will review it will help me, see y'all!
