Hello guys, I hope you enjoy this chapter and as usual please do keep voting, I love you all.
Anyways just so you know Annabeth will still have a dagger, Thalia will have given it to her, I just wanna save any confusion later, and there will be some things I'll probably only write briefly if they're really close to what happened in the book.
Yes Percy is twelve at this point, and she'll be going to camp in the very near future so enjoy.
Also they know all about Camp, and Percy and Luke are very aware that mortals aren't supposed to go and that technically as a Big Three kid Percy would probably have to stay there, and neither of them want to be parted from one another or from Sally which is why they're so against it.

Sure enough Percy was right.

Within a few weeks Percy and Grover were the best of friends-they spent as much time as they could together in school, and Percy didn't regret it for a moment.

Sure it meant that she was automatically a social outcast-she'd pissed off the most popular girl in the school on her first day, it was to be expected, and Grover... well Grover was a little bit weird she had to admit.

He was a cheerful kid usually, very passionate about the environment, but he was also prone to being bullies and he tended to cry when he got upset-this generally pissed Percy off.

If there was one thing that the daughter of Poseidon was it was protective of her friends and family, when one of the nastier bullies had stuck his foot up to try and trip up Grover she'd stopped her friend mid step and stepped in front of him, decking the boy in the face.

The look on Grover's face had been a picture and Percy had laughed herself sick-she understood it, she wasn't exactly the biggest kid around-and on the day it had happened she'd been in a dressy mood so she was the picture of a petite dainty little thing, right up until the moment that her fist had smashed into the guys nose and he'd ended up flat on the ground.

The best thing was, given the innocent look she'd given the teachers and the fact that the boy- Mitchell Dunn, was twice her size they completely dismissed the possibility that she could have been the one in the wrong.

Never mind the fact that Percy had been taking martial arts classes and fencing classes since she was a little kid-or the fact that she and Luke sparred constantly-honestly she could probably beat the crap into the biggest baddest kids in the school if she really wanted to-but then she would get caught so that was a big no no.

In any case, Percy enjoyed it-she didn't make friends easily but she and Grover had just clicked-and though Percy was sure that he was hiding just as much as she was-she wasn't fooled by the fake limp-she'd seen Grover run when there was the prospect of enchiladas. No if she was right then he was probably a Satyr-that wasn't the best news ever, he was looking for Demigods and she was sure he suspected her, but there wasn't much she could do either way-he'd suspect her even if she'd kept her distance.

She had however made excuses to avoid inviting him over.

There was no way that he'd not figure out something weird was going on if he met Luke too-and she wanted to cling to normality as long as she could.

Of course once she'd realized what Grover was she'd known she'd have to have the conversation with her mom and Luke-they needed to know that there was a Satyr hanging around after all. She just hoped that she could avoid doing anything that would give her parentage away.

That was why Percy had badgered Luke and her mom into the living room after school the day that she'd decided that there was very little chance she was wrong about Grover.

She shifted uncomfortably under the worried looks her mom and Luke were giving her.

"Okay." she took a deep breath, running her fingers through her loose waves, "So don't freak out you guys-but you remember I told you I had a new friend at school."

"Well duh." Luke rolled his eyes, grinning, "You haven't shut up about it-we're both real proud Sephie-your first real friend." his voice was teasing-and Percy glared at him, face flushing.

"Shush now. Anyways." her gaze swung to Sally, who'd crossed her arms over her chest and was raising an eyebrow curiously.

"What is it honey? If Grover okay?"

"Yeah, yeah he is." Percy took a deep breath, "But, uh, you remember you told me that sometimes Satyrs are sent to schools to keep an eye out for Demigods?"

"Yes." Sally's eyes narrowed slightly and Luke let out a groan.

"Please say your new best friend isn't a Satyr."

"I mean-I don't know for sure." Percy gave a sheepish grin, "But sometimes when he laughs he's kinda bleating? And he walks with sticks and this fake limp but sometimes he slips up and he can run to the cafeteria when they're doing his favourite food."

"Well it was bound to happen sooner or later." Sally admitted reluctantly, "But I can't say I like it. It's no ones fault-they do send Satyrs to schools for kids with troubles to find Demigods."

"And looks like this one hit the jackpot." Luke gave a wry smile, though there was a glint of concern in his eyes when he said that, "Finding the daughter of Poseidon. That's gotta be a big deal right?"

"It is." Sally's voice was grim, "But unless she's in danger Grover probably won't act-for now just don't do anything to give yourself away okay?"

"I know mom." Percy nodded, "No using my powers."

"Good." Sally stood up and moved to Percy's side, kissing the top of her head, "It'll be okay honey."

"Will it?" Percy asked suddenly, "Because we all know the monster attacks have been getting more frequent-" Luke winced at that and Sally's expression tightened.

There was a long moment of quiet before Sally spoke again, "Do you want to go to Camp?"

"No. I... I mean I don't mind the idea of it as a Summer camp but I don't wanna leave you mom." Percy admitted, "Or Luke for that matter." she hunched in on herself slightly.

"Sephie-"

"I know it's selfish and I should probably go there so you guys are safer- cause I'm the one the monsters are mostly after right? Luke could probably get away with it but I can-"

"Shut up." Percy blinked rapidly as-"

"Did you just throw a pen at me."

"Stop being a dumbass Sephie." Luke rolled his eyes, "I don't want you to go to Camp and end up stuck there. We want you home with us you
dumbass-"

"Don't call me dumbass you klepto-"

"I might be a klepto but at least I didn't blow up a school bus-"

"Okay that's just rude-" they were interrupted by Sally's bright loud laughter.

"Children calm down." she shook her head, "No bickering now." she let out a breath, "We'll figure things out as they come you two. Percy no one is
going to force you to go to Camp, we'll get by is the attacks get worse we always have and we always will. If you want to go for the summers that's fine too but it's up to you."

"I... thanks mom." Percy smiled softly, ducking her head and letting herself relax. "I love you both, y'know that."

"Of course we do." Sally brushed her fingers through Percy's hair. "We'll deal with things with Grover as they come-just try and be as normal as you can and if he figure out then we'll deal with it when it happens. But he won't be able to come over to the house-"

"I know. If it's just me he might not figure it out, but if he sees Luke too-"

"He'll definitely know something's up." Luke nodded, "Guess I won't be meeting your new best friend for the foreseeable future after all." he shoved his hands in his pockets, leaning back in his chair. "Shame, he sounds pretty cool-though it does surprise me that someone who's supposed to be protecting Demigods from monsters would cry at bullies."

"Poor thing." Sally's brows furrowed, "He's probably not used to actual bullies." her eyes narrowed and she stood up abruptly, "I should have enough ingredients to make a batch of cookies-"

"What does that have to do with my Satyr best friend getting bullied?" Percy blinked, a confused look on her face.

"I'm making him cookies of course." Sally declared.

That made Percy and Luke exchange amused looks.

If there was one thing Sally Jackson was good at it was looking after kids.

Percy was suddenly sure it would probably be for the best if her mom didn't meet Grover, the woman would adopt him on sight.

Of course when Percy gave Grover the cookies the next day he'd declared his undying devotion to the 'Goddess' who had blessed him with such perfect cookies.

That had sent Percy into peals of laughter.

And so things settled into a new sort of normal-Percy was pleased to say that no monsters seemed to be interested in attacking her at the moment and her life was, for once, relatively calm and peaceful and she actually had someone she'd genuinely call her best friend now.

And then the Winter Solstice came.

Percy had been enjoying the Christmas break, helping her mom bake cookies and prepare for Christmas-hanging out with Luke- they went ice skating on the weekends and got hot cocoa afterwards every time.

The Solstice was on a weekend, and Percy and Luke were on their way back from skating, both wrapped up in thick jackets and scarves, clutching their hot cocoas, Luke holding his with one hand, his other arm draped over Percy's shoulder as she clutched hers in both to try and keep her hands warm as she sipped it-getting cream on her nose.

One second it was cold, but the sky was fairly clear, and the next clouds seemed to be boiling across the sky.

Percy's brows furrowed slightly as she looked up as the word turned darker-they were almost coming out from the sky above the Empire State building.

Then there was a bright light that almost looked like it struck the top of the building-and the clap of the thunder was almost deafening.

She felt the blood draining from her face and Luke's grip on her shoulder tightened.

"What-"

"We need to get home. Now." Luke's voice was tight, worried, and they took off through the streets as it started to rain, the skys opening.
Percy felt sick as they fled.

Something was wrong. Something was so so terrifyingly wrong and Percy didn't know what it was.

It didn't take them long to get home, and Luke almost shoved Percy inside once he'd unlocked and opened the door, darting inside himself and slamming it behind him, locking it up tightly, and Percy was tugging her hat off, hair falling in her face as she gave Luke a wide eyed panicked look.

"Luke-"

"I know." Luke moved to her side quickly, plucking her hot cocoa from her grip and putting it down on the floor before he got to work, unzipping her coat for her-her hands were shaking she realized. "Percy breath."

"That was him. My uncle wasn't it?"

"The storm's definitely not natural." the closest thing Luke had ever seen to that was during their first monster attack when the stranger had summoned her lightning to attack the birds.

"He's angry."

"Seems like it." Luke helped push the coat off Percy's shoulders, tugging her scarf off and hanging it up before he got to work with his own coat and scarf.

"What's going on?"

"I have no idea." Luke shook his head.

They both knew that for some reason Poseidon had wanted Percy's existence to be kept a secret for as long as possible-they knew her uncles wouldn't be happy-though Percy didn't really understand why.

"Do you think he know?"

"I don't see how." Luke shook his head, "It's probably something else. You know how the stories are they're always fighting over something right?"

"I guess." Percy winced as there was another rumble of thunder, hunching in on herself slightly.

Luke clearly noticed because a second later his arms were wrapped around her and he was dragging her to the living room, grabbing out a pile of blankets and throwing them at her. "I'll grab your hot cocoa. I think mom made some cookies earlier. Let's watch some movies and try and drown it out."

"Easier said than done. Do you think she'll be okay?"

"Mom will be fine." Luke's voice was firm, "She had that meeting with her publisher today, she'll probably stay there until the storm's cleared-" there was a blinding flash of light from outside and Luke moved to the windows to draw the blinks quickly, "We're just gonna hunker down in here okay Sephie?"

"Okay Luke." Percy pulled her knees to her chest as she settled down on the couch.

She didn't mind storms-it was the lightning she hated-knowing that the God responsible for that would probably like to use it to smite her wasn't exactly comforting.

Still, she did feel better once Luke had finished setting everything up, and they ended up huddled up on the couch, Percy curled into his side, both of them wrapped in thick blankets watching the Little Mermaid, Percy still cluching her hot cocoa with a plate of cookies on the coffee table in front of them.

There might be a storm raging outside and an angry God who would happily kill her, but at home with her big brother Percy felt like the safest kid alive-and it was that feeling that allowed her to fall asleep before the film had even finished.
