Chapter 8

Had Elsa expected that she would have had to spend her Saturday night cooped up in a house with someone who made her skin crawl she never would have agreed to tag along. As if things couldn't get any worse the instant they were let in her freind Marigold had disappeared from the room to freshen her 'makeup' as if she needed anymore.

She had so much caked on Elsa thought she looked like a street hooker though that was something she'd never say aloud. "So..." Jack began trying to cover the overwhelming silence in the room, Elsa shot him a look "So, What?" She asked, slightly irritated. She was debating on going to check what was taking Marigold so long.

"You can relax Ice queen, I'm not gonna try anything." He lifted up the game console and offered it to her "I just wanted to ask if you wanted to play the new game I bought."

She eyed him curiously "What game?"

"The new GTA Game Silver city" He said not expecting her to understand so when her eyes brightened it came as a bit of a shock to him. "No way, that game doesn't come out till next month." She cried excitedly "How the hell did you manage to get a copy..." Realizing she'd let her guard down she sat back on the couch and let her gaze drop to the floor. A bit of blush appearing on her cheeks. "I- I mean, that's cool..."

Jack knew he had her exactly where he wanted her so he decided to answer her question "Lets just say I know people." He watched as she took the console from him, she was soon knee deep in blood and every so often she'd run over some poor, little old lady and curse her out for getting in her way. Though Jack hadn't expected to, he found himself having fun. He enjoyed watching her get so into the game, he was almost sorry when Marigold walked in and ruined their fun.

"Sorry I took so long" She apologized "I was just getting into my sleep clothes" Jack couldn't help but grin as Marigold walked right past where he sat, her hips swaying back and forth as she moved.

she was wearing a tight pink see thru shirt and shorts so small Jack wondered if she'd gotten it from the infants isle at the local baby store. Clearly, this was meant to 'intice' him but he wasn't the least bit interested. Seeming disappointed that his focus was more on the game then her Marigold sat near Elsa and pulled on her sleeve "Hey Els, why don't you go get changed into something more comfortable?"

"What are you talking about?" Elsa asked not taking her eyes off the game "I am comfortable." This is clearly not what her freind wanted to hear as she took the console from her, earning her a stare from Elsa "No. Your Not" She said eyeing her up and down "You can't possibly tell me that's what your gonna sleep in. A long sleeve and pants, c'mon now."

Though she tried to protest Marigold seemed insistent on pushing her out of the room so with more reluctance then anything she disappeared into the kitchen and headed up the stairs towards her bedroom for the night.

Seeing his chance Jack grabbed the console and picked up where Elsa left off, though he didn't get very far before he felt Merigold plop down beside him. He ignored her until she put a hand on his leg "So, now that we're alone do you wanna you know make out?"

Having seen it coming, Jack put the console down "First off, get your hands off me" She flinched back at the tone in his voice but obeyed "And second, no can do beach bunny."

Her mouth gaped open but she kept smiling "Don't play hard to get baby I saw you eyeing me when we walked in the door so..."

He eyed her for a moment wondering if this was the shy, timid girl his sister had been talking about. If so, she sure had everyone fooled. It was clear to Jack that it was just a cover up to hide her true nature "So, what?" Jack finally asked "you thought I wanted to sleep with you. I hate to break it to you but slutty girls like you aren't my type"

"You know what? I don't have to take this" Marigold got to her feet "I'm going to my room now. You wont see me again for the rest of the night!" Not bothering to stop her, he just picked the game up and continued playing.

Elsa walked in a minute later "Alright what the hell did you do to Marigold?" She demanded.

Jack didn't answer, causing Elsa to unplug the game. He was about to get up and yell at her when he saw what she was wearing, it was just a plain white T-Shirt and shorts but for the first time in Jack's life he found himself frozen and utterly speechless. It took Elsa hitting him over the head to snap him back into reality. She had her finger in his face "I swear to god if you touched her..."

He put on a fake smile to cover his embarrassment "Relax Ice queen I never laid a finger on her. I swear" Unsure of weather to believe him, she pushed past him "I'm gonna check on her just to make sure..."

When she disappeared upstairs, Jack mentally slapped himself "What the hell got into me?" He wondered to himself. In that moment of weakness she'd made him feel like his insides had all turned to mush and he resented it with every single bone in his body. He hated the Ice queen for making him feel that way and he swore to himself that it would never happen again.

"It's time to put phase 2 into action" He grinned as he headed into the kitchen and grabbed some cups off the kitchen counter his plan was to seduce the ice queen, take pictures and then blackmail her to go out with him. He'd be on his best behavior and though she'd resent him for a while given time she'd eventually fall head over heels for him. At least that's what he kept thinking.

"She wont know what hit her" He couldn't help but laugh as he grabbed some cokes from the fridge. He then headed back into the living room to wait for her but when she didn't come down he grew impatient and headed upstairs to see what was taking her so long, he found her standing in his parent's bedroom.

"What the hell do you think your doing?" He demanded, Elsa just about jumped out of her skin when she turned around and found him gazing at her quizzingly. He didn't seem mad just slightly peeved.

"I- Um, well you see..."

Without a word he moved past her and took a picture of his parents off the mantel where it sat "I- I didn't mean to be nosy, I'm sorry..." Elsa tried to back out from the room but a gust of snow shot out in her direction slamming the door shut.

Elsa flinched and gasped softly but didn't move from where she stood, "Since your here I may as well tell you" Jack still hadn't taken his eyes off the picture in his hands. His eyes contained not hate but resentment in them.

"C'mere for a sec."

"Uh, no thanks I'm fine right here" She said laughing nervously, he shot her a look "That wasn't a request, Ice Queen. If you wanna get out of here you better do as I say" With more reluctance then anything she moved over to where he stood the entire time she was leaning towards the door.

"In case you were wondering. Yes, this is my mother. Amelia Ann Gothel"

Elsa's mouth flew open "Are you serious? Principle Gothel is your mother?" Completely shocked at this revelation, she turned her attention to the tall, lanky man in the picture "A-And thats your father I take it?"

"I guess" Jack said with a shrug "Not that he was much of one to begin with. His work keeps him away for months at a time and when he does manage to show his face again its only to lecture me on how I'm a failure as his son."

Not being able to help feeling sorry for him, she took his hand "I know exactly how you feel..."

"No you don't" Jack cried yanking his hand away before he turned his back to her "You have no idea what it's like to be the son Of Pritchard Black, everyone's always judging me saying how I'm not fit to be in this family and that until I stop being so soft and weak I'll never earn my fathers respect."

He put the picture down and headed for the door, in his mind Jack couldn't believe he was spilling his guts out to someone who could just as easily use all this to get back at him later.

"Jack..."

"No, just forget it. I want you two gone by the morning." He headed downstairs and took his rage out on the wall only allowing himself to calm down when his hand began to throb. After that he went into the living room and ended up falling asleep on the couch.

It wasn't long before he found himself startled awake, he looked around and realized it was just a tree branch scratching against the living room window. Feeling like an idiot for letting that scare him he lay back down only to realize someone had placed a blanket over him.

For the first time in a while he found himself smiling, a real, geniune smile. That happy feeling soon passed and he found himself yanking the blanket off, today had not been going as planned and it was pissing him off.

Rather then sit there and stew in his rage he headed out onto his back porch thru the screened in door and used the ladder propped up against the side of the house to climb up to the top of the roof.

He hadn't expected to see Elsa up there so when he did. He was shocked, she drew her attention away from the moon she'd been gazing at and smiled at him "Couldn't sleep either huh?"

Jack had wanted to add a sarcastic comment but in the moment couldn't think of anything to say so he simply shrugged and took the spot right beside her. Placing his hands under his head he gazed up at the stars expecting total silence. That wasn't Elsa's plan.

"It's so beautiful isn't it?"

"Not really. I only came out here because it's much cooler here then in there." Elsa wasn't fooled but decided not to get into it, she started humming a soft tune causing Jack to grow curious.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Oh Sorry" She apologized "I hum when I'm happy..."

"Well it's annoying. so cut it the fuk out."

Despite the warning she continued on as if he hadn't said anything and eventually Jack gave up and closed his eyes. "Fine do whatever the hell you want. I don't care..."

"Oh C'mon" Elsa couldn't help but chuckle "You can't tell me you don't like it. Singing's good for the soul, you should try it sometime."

With his eyes still closed he smiled "What with my voice? Don't think so."

At the sound of Elsa's soft hearted chuckle, he suddenly found his insides growing to mush again but tried to ignore it. "So, what exactly did Beach Bunny tell you? Not that I care I'm just curious" He opened one eye enjoying as she fumbled around trying to decide weather to tell him the truth or lie.

"Well..." She started counting down on her fingers "1st she told me you made a pass on her, 2nd she said when she rejected you, that you tried to get under her skirt anyway and 3rd..."

"You don't exactly believe any of that do you?" He watched her sit up, surprised at the smile spreading across her face. "No" She replied softly "Not for a second, I mean your a lot of things Jack winters but one thing your not is a pervert."

"And how exactly do you know that?" He asked curiously "I mean I AM a man after all. I have urges to, what makes you think that I won't try anything with you while we're up here?"

She grew quiet for a minute "If you were gonna try something you would have already done so." she finally said, her gaze was fixated on the stars above her. Jack had nothing to add to this, he was busy trying to get his heart to stop racing as he watched her rub her arm nervously.

He hadn't expected the answer she'd given and frankly it made him feel weird inside. He kept arguing with himself to look away as she finally turned to look at him, her blue hues twinkling in the moonlight like some sort of angelic angel. It sickened him, that he was thinking of such things, to the point where he stood up "I'm heading back in" Elsa seemed surprised but agreed "K, I'm coming to."

Jack saw the loose piece of roofing under her feet before she did and reacted out of impulse by reaching out "Watch it!" As she lost her footing and tripped Elsa suddenly felt weightless, she wanted to scream but was to frightened to. She could only close her eyes as she waited for the pain that came with hitting the ground, but it never came.

She opened her eyes and realized Jack had grabbed her arm, before the shock could wear off he pulled her away from the ledge. She fell into his arms, though her head was screaming for her to pull away she couldn't seem to find it in her to do it, she was trembling to much so she let herself be held by him "Are you ok?" The worry in his voice surprised even Jack.

"Y-Yeah I'm fine. Thank you." she clutched onto his back tightly afraid if she let go she'd fall.

Jack felt a rush of happiness surge thru him mixed with shock and confusion. What the hell was he doing holding her this way? He refused to let his feelings get the best of him and took hold of her shoulders pulling her away from him. "C'mon Snowflake lets head back in."

Without another word he headed down the ladder with Elsa following after him, once he'd climbed down he didn't bother to wait for her. He went in thru the screened in door and up the stairs refusing to look at her. Only when he'd made it to the safety of his room did he allow his mind to wander. What the hell did I just do? He wondered to himself This isn't like me, she's just a girl. Just a stupid, naive, airheaded girl. Theres no way in hell she's gonna make me fall for her, No god damn way in hell.

Yes I know its unusual for girls to like GTA and I know theres no GTA game called silver city xD but I liked the games when I was younger and I made it up because why not? Anyway. Until next time guys and gals :D
