(Authors note- Quick thing, Storm and Wave don't sing in this chapter so when the song say's all, it means everyone but them.)
In the forty thieves lair Wave, Storm, the robians, Zazz, Blade, Grounder and Mephiles were all sitting around a fire "Forty thieves are down to nine, what're we gonna do?" Grounder asked. "How did they even know the words for the entrance?" Blade asked but suddenly the entrance began to open "Another raid?" the robians said in unison as Mephiles got into a fighting position "Today is a good day to die". It was Scourge who was standing at the entrance "Or to come back from the dead" he said with a grin to the surprise of everyone "Scourge?" Storm said with Wave adding "You're alive?". "I'm a survivor, like the rest of you, no thanks to Jules" Wave walked forward "What are you talking about Scourge" Scourge pushed her back "What I'm saying you pushover, is that he betrayed you, sold you out". "You always hated the King, why should we believe you now" Mephiles asked "How do you think they got the words" Scourge said looking at Zazz "He told them the words?". Storm walked forward looking angry "You're lyin, the boss would never do that to us" Zazz crossed his arms "Yeah, he would never". They all began to walk away but Scourge continued to smile "Have you forgotten what it was like before Jules".
Scourge- I remember a time
When crime was sublime,
(They turn around to watch him)
There was plenty of loot in the lair.
(He throws a glass bottle at the wall)
We'd plunder and pillage,
And ransack a village,
With nary a worry or care!
(He starts tearing apart the tables that have no valuables on them)
Then along came this king
With his soft-hearted dream
But he ratted us out in the end,
(He walks up to a picture of Jules and tears it apart)
So rally the troops!
(They all get ready to attack him)
We were meant to regroup,
And return to our roots once again!
(Mephiles fires a beam at him but he blocks it with a table)
Are you in or out?
(Storm and Wave try to attack him but he punches them out of the way)
Gotta know without a doubt!
(Zazz and Blaze both try to jump kick him, but he grabs there legs and throws them to the ground)
I'm the one you need for a dirty deed,
(Grounder tries to rush him but he just moves out the way and Grounder crashes into a wall)
I'm the best, success is guaranteed!
(The robians all attack at one but Scourge uses a homing attack to Knock them back)
Are you men or mice?
Take a slice of my advice!
You want a fearless leader, one that's strong and stout?
Better vote for me.
Are you in or out?
(All but Storm and Wave begin to be convinced)
Mephiles- We used to be smart, yes,
Zazz- Horrendously heartless
Blade and Grounder- In ravaging raids, we were rough
The Robians- We knew that we had
To be blissfully bad;
Then Jules brought this sensitive stuff!
And we strayed from the path
Of our rigorous wrath;
Now we're taking a bath in the dust!
But we'll reclaim our winnings,
Our humble beginnings,
In turmoil and torture, we trust!
(They all stare at Storm and Wave who begin to look worried)
All- Are you in or out?
Scourge- Double-crossers or devout?
(Scourge picks wave up by the shirt)
Put your faith in me,
Pretty soon you'll see
I'm the prince of generosity
All- Are you foe or friend?
(The others form an arch of torches)
Scourge- Here's the path I recommend!
You want a ride to fame?
I've got the fastest route;
What's it gonna be?
Are you in or out?
(Scourge throws Wave at Storm)
Blade- We'll go robbing in all the right places,
(She sharpens her sword)
The Robians- From Shamar dunes to Bali
(The three of them shoot at Storm and Wave causing them to run)
Zazz- Imagine the fear on their faces
Grounder- When we drop by for cookies and tea
(Storm and Wave are stopped by them)
Scourge- Come along, boys!
Follow me!
(Storm and Wave are pushed towards Scourge)
All- Are you in or out?
Scourge- If you're with me, give a shout
All- Yay!
Scourge- I'll lead you all the way,
Into the glory days,
Mephiles- We'll begin a life of crime that pays!
(They begin to circle Storm and Wave)
Mecha- Are you out or in?
Neo- Make your choice now, sink or swim!
Scourge- You can stick with me, or stay behind and pout
All- What's it gonna be?
Scourge- Consider carefully.
All- Are you in or OUT?!
(Scourge smiles devilishly as Storm and Wave stare at him in fear)
Jules and Jet were entering the lair "I suppose you'll be taking Sonic's place as one of the Forty Thieves" "I guess, you won't be disappointed" the two were at the top of the stairs "I'm home!". The moment he said this the remaining thieves came out of hiding and advanced on the two of them, weapons out "Uh Jules, why don't they look happy to see you". Jet was then answered by a familiar voice "Oh we are happy to see him we're thrilled" Scourge said throwing a tied-up Storm and Wave in front of them "Sorry boss".
The thieves were now all on a ship heading out to sea with the four prisoners tied to the mast, Jet had an idea "You two, use your homing device on your extreme gear" Wave rolled her eyes "You don't think they would have taken them from us". Jet however smiled "They don't know you two upgraded mine, so they didn't take my homing device" this gave Jules hope "You won't have time to get us all free, escape and bring back help" Jet pressed a button on his bracelet "All right keep them busy". Scourge went up to Jules holding the oracle "I'm getting impatient, what is it you wanted this for" Jules thought that this would be a good distraction "Oracle, where can we find the golden metal virus". The oracle appeared in front of the ship distracting everybody "The vanishing isle will appear at dawn; I will show you the way" the oracle then shot of across the sea. Jet was finally able to get free and clicked the button on his wrist causing his extreme gear to burst out from the floor which the others took notice of. Before they could say anything, Jet was already on his extreme gear and was flying above the ship "See ya chumps" he yelled as he started heading to Shamar. Scourge however didn't care "Leave him, the vanishing isle is where we are going and besides, we still have three people we can kill" he smiled at his three former comrades.
In the palace throne room King Rose was standing next to Fang and they were both looking at Sonic "Frankly my boy, your actions have been most disappointing" the King said while Fang remained silent. Knuckles then appeared as a lawyer "Your honour, if I may make a plea of insanity, cause I'm crazy about this kid" he said giving Sonic a noogie. Then suddenly Tails, Blaze, Silver, Shadow and Silver all came through the main door "It wasn't Sonic, he was with us the whole time" Tails said unconvincingly making Sonic face palm "Guys I already told them I did it" "Oh" they all said in unison. Sonic went up to the King "Your majesty I know what he did but he was still my Dad, I couldn't just leave him there" Amy then came up and hugged him "I would have done the same for my father". This hit the King hard and he sighed "Sonic I cannot forgive your fathers crimes, but what you did, you did out of love and you came back to face the consequences, I am happy to put all this behind us". Silver stress was able to leave him and he noticed that he was crushing the others with his powers "Oh god sorry" he dropped them all and they didn't look hurt, but definitely angry. They started to celebrate but Sonic knew he had someone else to apologise to, he walked up to Fang who had an unreadable expression "I just want to say I'm-". Fang put his hand up to stop him "I don't like what you did, but I get it and when there older if my kids show me half the loyalty you showed your father, I'd be proud". Fang then gave a slight smile; Sonic knew he wasn't much of a hugger, so they instead shook hands.
"HEY!" Everyone turned to the palace entrance to see it suddenly burst open revealing Jet on his extreme gear, he jumped inf front of them and tried to explain but he could barely string a sentence together "Sonic, dad, alive, virus". Amy stopped him "Calm down Jet, what are you talking about" Jet took a breath "It's Scourge the guy Sonic beat, he's alive and he's got Jules" Sonic looked more angry than worried "That's his problem". Amy walked forward "Sonic, just because he made the wrong decision doesn't mean you have to" Tails then came up next to him "And besides, we're with you all the way" Sonic looked as everyone put there thumbs up at him making him smile "Jet, show us the way" "You got it pal".
