Clenching and unclenching her left hand Mōdoku gazed over at Aiya. Her body lacking visible wounds fascinating her.
She mentions, "Your clans taijutsu is very interesting, shame that it requires the byakugan for its use".
Aiyas eyes flicker back to their normal state. Shrugging, "Seeing how it's a staple of the clan, it's to be expected. Although, as a branch member I'm unable to learn the more advanced techniques".
Squinting at her Mōdoku shrugs, "Then you'll just have to adapt your skillset. Unlike those of the main line, who's fighting styles centre around their dojutsus, you might have to use yours as a supplement to enhance your abilities that you've learned in other areas".
Aiya stops supplying chakra to her feet and allows herself to fall into the water. While floating in the water she replies, "My clan wouldn't give me any assistance in training in other skill sets. I doubt that I could become strong by myself, so my only choice is to utilise the minuscule assistance I receive from the clan".
Mōdoku walks over and reaches out a hand. Seeing Aiya not reach out she informs her, "Well the problem with what you said is, that there's no reason for you to attempt to become strong by yourself".
Aiya pauses and begins to question her. However, Mōdoku interrupts, "You can get help from myself. I'm confident that even by myself I could become a great shinobi".
Their eyes meet, Mōdoku confidence making Aiya instinctually reach out for her hand.
Pulling Aiya back to the water surface, Mōdoku looks towards the trees calling out, "However, we have you to rely on don't we teacher".
Sakae appears next to them, much to Aiyas surprise. "How did you know she was there; I didn't see her with my byakugan?".
Instead of replying Mōdoku looks over to Sakae, waiting for her to speak.
Sakae inquisitively looks at Mōdoku before replying, "I was a bit out of your byakugans range Aiya".
Aiya hearing her becomes crestfallen. Speaking softly, "How'd you know how short my range was?".
Mōdoku smiles up at Sakae, then turns to face Aiya, "She has been overlooking our training, haven't you teacher? It's no surprise that she hasn't picked up our abilities by now".
Sakae turns to Aiya, "Of cause I will help you, that's my job as your Jonin teacher". Her words cause Aiya to shy away from Sakaes eyes.
"The real surprise is little Mōdoku being able to sense me. I was even hiding my chakra so she couldn't sense me".
Before Mōdoku had a chance to bask in the praise, Sakaes next words brought her mood back down.
"Saburo not joining in the team training was out of my expectations. Although, Mōdoku you did a good job reaching out and forming chemistry with Aiya, even if Saburo didn't join in".
Mōdoku attempted to defend herself, however, Sakae interrupted her, "I'm not saying its your fault, I saw you try to reach out to him a few times".
Sakaes words, brought no change to Mōdokus mood, her inability to do a task that she thought wouldn't be too difficult glooming her.
Sakae sighed, "The team looked like it was going to go well, with each of you not untalented and being able to reach Jonin yourselves. A shame that Saburos desire isn't anything over reaching Chunin".
Feeling the depressing atmosphere Mōdoku asks, "Do you want me to try to ask him again?". Before mumbling, "I doubt it would change anything though".
Sakae dismissed her replying, "No its fine. It's the teacher's job to sort out any problems with the team. The only reason I let it go on so long is because I wanted to see if you were capable as a leader. Which unsurprisingly you did very well".
Mōdoku looked at Aiya, questioning Sakae, "Isn't what I've been doing becoming friends with Aiya?".
Sakae walks over to both of them putting them over land, motioning them to sit down.
"You have built a friendship. But you have also made yourself a leader. Haven't you noticed how much Aiya follows your opinions?".
Mōdoku lays down on the ground. Replying, "Of course I noticed. Isn't it to be expected, seeing as I am stronger?".
Aiya reaches over and grabs a hold of Mōdokus hand. "I'm not following what you say because your stronger than me. Even if you were weaker than me, I would respect your choices".
The physical contact surprises Mōdoku, who attempts to slowly release her hand from Aiyas grasp. Feeling Aiya resist against her she gives in and allows it.
Sakae looks at them, reaches into her sleave and grabs two slips. "These papers will allow us to find out your chakra affinity. I had planned to give them out to the three of you last week. Saburos actions having made me delay for some time".
Mōdoku forces her hand out from Aiyas grasp. The action making Aiyas face pout.
Reaching for them Mōdoku asks, "How do we use them?". Handing one over to Aiya.
Seeing her actions Sakae rubbed Mōdokus head. "You just need to release some chakra into the paper. If it burns you have a fire affinity, soaked means water, split means wind, turn to dirt means ground and wrinkling means lightning".
Hearing her Mōdoku nods kneading chakra into it. Seeing it split in half Mōdoku smiles, happy she now knows her affinity.
Looking over at Aiya Mōdoku sees, half of it burn before the other side becomes soaked.
Mōdoku tilted her head at Aiya, having read that dual affinities were uncommon.
Sakae looked at Aiya informing her, "Seems that ninjutsu become more opportunistic, and as your reserves are quite large you would be able to reach great heights with it".
Aiya stares disbelievingly at the spot the paper was.
After some time, she looked up at Mōdoku. "Your suggestion is seeming more and more worthwhile".
Mōdoku shrugs, looking up at Sakae. "When will we learn some ninjutsu's teacher?".
Sakae handed Mōdoku and Aiya each a scroll, "I expected you to be impatient. Ill leave you these to learn while I go figure something to do out about Saburo". Disappearing with a shunshin.
