As I left the house, Maxine handed me a knapsack, "Make sure you come back to us." They whispered as they pulled me into a hug. I laughed, "Of course! I will never leave you behind."
I may have laughed, but I was serious. I knew what it was like to be left behind, involuntarily or not. I refused to put someone else through that. (As I conveniently ignore the fact that I left my daughter, Deku, and Tokoyami behind on Earth and haven't even attempted to try and get back. Though I wasn't stupid enough to believe that they will not at least try and contact me at some point.)
I slipped the pack onto my back and left the cabin, joining everyone else outside.
"Sensei!" The kids cried, jumping towards me with their arms wide open. I laugh and pick them up, swinging them around as they squealed in delight.
I set them on their feet again a moment later and they look up at me. "We'll miss you, Sensei!" Amber says, leaning forward with her hands behind her back. "And we won't slack on our training! Both physical and mental!"
I grinned at them, "Good, cause I'll expect a spar when I get back!" I patted them on the head. I hesitated a moment before pulling out my wedding bands and the Graduating Class photo and passed them to the kids. The wedding bands went to Amber and the photo to Maxwell. "Take care of these for me? I don't want to risk losing them in my travels." I would keep the 1-A Class Photo and the Family Photo with me.
"We will!" They agreed.
"If you're quite done, we do have places to be." Morrigan snipped. I rolled my eyes, Morrigan was rather bitchy but I could tell she meant no lasting harm.
I gave Malcolm and Maxine both a hug and we were soon on our way.
"That story was true?" Because while Alistair might've asked questions, he wasn't exactly sure he completely believed it. I hummed, looking up from my journal, and smiled at him, nodding. "Whether you actually believe it or not, is completely up to you."
Alistair looked towards the fire they had set up after night fell. "I think I will believe you. It's highly unlikely someone could come up with such an elaborate story."
I barked out a loud laugh, "Then my world would baffle you with the kind of stories that were written before Quirks. Honestly, Deku's life story would probably make a best-selling Manga -a sort of picture book- had Quirks never came about." (A certain author in another dimension sneezed.)
"So! Outside of apparently being able to lift a horse, what can you do?" Natia asked, clapping her hands together, and turned to her.
I laughed, "Shouldn't you have asked me that before you recruited me?"
She grinned at me, "Maybe, but you were interesting."
I shrug at her, "Well, I know a few styles of hand to hand, can speak almost eight languages because of my travels, I can -probably obviously- breathe underwater, swim about twenty-five miles an hour, can smell lies, and can smell blood from about a mile away. So I'm rather good at tracking. Rain wouldn't even affect the result much, if at all. My skin and hair are also very tough, so it's hard to breakthrough. I saw the way you all looked at my outfit, but it's made from my own hair, so it's very sturdy. There are a few useless things, like the fact that I'll never be without teeth, I have two rows of teeth and my teeth are self-cleaning." I nodded to myself.
"What's the heaviest thing you can lift?" Leliana asked.
"Hmm, just a horse." To specify, I could lift to 2500 pounds. Though that was honestly pushing it.
"Impressive," Sten spoke up, causing me to jump. That guy really didn't talk much.
I laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of my head, "Not really. There were people back home who could lift much much more."
