Hey guys, I'm finally back with chapter 5.
I've been taking a bit of a break to think of some idea's which took way longer than it should have because my idiotic self was highlighting all the major events I'm going to write but I wasn't thinking of what I was going to write before those events but I finally got back with another and I'm also going to try different writing styles so it might look messier as I'm still experimenting with which format works best for me but I hope you enjoy this chapter nonetheless.

"We've been here two days, TWO! and you're out there jumping off buildings already. like I know you're going to do something like that but already? that must be a new record" Leaf was ranting about Ash's little stunt a few hours earlier while he sat down on the couch in front of her with his head down as he just repeated "Sorry" after every sentence.
"Are you done yet?" Ash asks his rambling sister
"Yes. Yes, I am" she huffed "but just so you know, I'm not letting you out of my sight anytime soon" she states "hooray". Leaf walked to her bedroom and closed the door behind her, leaving Ash alone.
"Seriously! climbing Prism Tower? Serena do you realise how dangerous that is", "Yes" "that was not how I raised you" Serena's mom was giving Serena a stern talking to after they got home and its been like this for the past half hour, with her belittling Serena. Once her mother finished her rant she sat down next to Serena and pulled the girl into a side hug "just don't do something like this again, okay?"
"I won't" Serena replied
"Good".
It's been three days since the incident and it was now Friday. The past few days have been fairly uneventful and boring, Brock has seemed to act nicer since Wednesday, probably since things settled down after the changes, which is a good thing otherwise Ash would have had a weeks detention for coming in late four times in a row, more than likely because he stays up 'till two in the morning doing Arceus knows what.
"Ashy-boy, what are you doing later?" Gary asked the raven-haired boy next to him,
"I'm going to be challenging the Santalune gym later, why?" Ash answered
"Well. I'm pretty bored and I haven't seen you battle in a while, so I was thinking if you would let me tag along?" Gary asked "Sure why not" Ash replies "sweet, cant wait to see you get your ass kicked" Gary snickered
"Oh shut up Oak-tree" Ash retorted to which Gary made an exaggerated offended face "Oh my such an insult, I'm afraid my pride has been hurt forever" Gary spouted sarcastically which made Ash facepalm at his friend's antics "anyway... will Leaf be there?" Gary asked innocently, making Ash direct a suspicious glance his way,
"Why do you want to know?" Ash asked sceptically "no reason" Gary shrugged "just wondering" he continued, "Gary I swear if this is a ploy to romance my sister then I would shove my foot so far up your ass your spine will pop out of your throat like a Pez dispenser" Ash threatened with a bit of truth to his claims "Sheesh you need to calm down, reminds me when we were travelling through Sinnoh" Gary smirked which made Ash's expression darken "hey that dude deserved that" Ash defended,
"Yeah but you choked him 'till he looked as blue as your Greninja" the boy snickered "my point still stands, he was trying to get my little sister to date him and being super nice to her but then being a dick to us"
"I mean when you put it like that then yeah, seems fair" the two friends then laughed a bit before splitting off.
It was currently the last period before the end of the day and they currently had Professor Sycamore who was giving an in-depth analysis of mega evolution.
"So theoretically enough of the energy emitted from mega stones and keystones could create a force strong enough to tear open a hole in our universe which could potentially end everything, but it would be impossible to gather that many stones as you would need over 2,000 being set off at once as the minimum..." Ash was beginning to lose focus of what was being said as he lost interest in the lesson he soon closed his eyes and drifted off.
There was a loud thud that snapped the sleeping boy from his slumber, he looked up and saw the Professor who had dropped a heavy textbook on top of his desk "well Mr Ketchum you must know what we're talking about if you decide to sleep rather than listen to what I have to say" the man stated "n-no I was listening" Ash lied,
"Well then, how about you explain the creation of the mega stones and keystones to prove you have been listening" Sycamore smirked, Ash just shrugged and got up off his chair and walked to the chalkboard and began to draw a rough sketch of a mega stone and a crude drawing of a machine of some kind.
"3,000 years ago in this region, there was a man named king AZ who's Floette was killed in the war and so he decided to end the war by building a machine that would kill both sides but his close friend Sir Aaron was against this idea as it was a terrible idea which would cause more problems than it solves and AZ planned on using Sir Aaron's aura to power it which Aaron wouldn't allow so they fought but in the battle, AZ managed to rig the weapon to absorb any aura that Aaron summoned and soon the weapon was set off, Aaron managed to quell its power but it still caused much damage and the spread-out aura energy fueled crystals with its power forming the mega stones and keystones and it's also why they are more common to find in Kalos than any other region as this is where it took place." Ash finished his explanation and turned back to the class "was that good enough?" Ash smirked
"Well, I did not expect that, that's for sure" the Professor laughed
"where did you learn that?" someone asked "I just read scrolls back in the Cameran Palace which has tons of info about the subject of aura" Ash shrugged as he sat down.
Serena admired the boy as he sat down 'wow, his strong, brave and he can even be smart' Serena thought as she kept her gaze on the raven-haired boy as he conversed with his sister.
Not long after the final bell rung and everyone was dismissed row by row and soon everyone was out of class either in the halls or already out of the building, Serena made her way to the gate before her path was blocked by someone she wished wouldn't. "What do you want Camel" she groaned
"I thought you would've known what I want by now" he smirked "come on, just one date" he pleaded, "and why would I do that?" she frowned, "because I'm charming, incredible and the best person alive" he boasted.
"geez. You sound more arrogant than Gary" said a voice behind Calem, the boy turned around and saw his self decided rival's younger sister, Serena breathed a sigh of relief once she saw Leaf to her rescue.
"And you are?" Leaf then smirked and folded her arms "oh please. You know who I am" Leaf then glanced to a distressed Serena "and I will politely ask you to leave my friend alone"
"and if I don't?" he said with a bored expression "well, I have a rather hungry Arcanine at my side that I could release at any second, so I suggest that you leave once I start counting" the brunette smirked as she held up three fingers, "your bluffing" the boy snarled
"3..." she started counting, Calem stood his ground though
"2..." once she said two he began to look nervous
"one and a half-" she was then cut off "Okay, okay I'm leaving" Calem grunted as he stormed off. Serena relaxed once he left and walked to Leaf
"Thanks, Leaf" Leaf put a hand on Serena's shoulder "don't worry Sere" making Serena laugh at the nickname she gave her. "Come, my brother is this way" Leaf then guided her to the duo of Ash and Gary, "hey big brother" Leaf called out causing Ash to turn to them and smile as they approached.
"What's up sis" Ash greeted he then turned to Serena and smiled slightly more "and hello to you too" Serena gave a small wave in return "so what are you guys up to?" Serena asked the two boys
"We were getting ready to head out and see Ash get his ass handed to him at the Santalune gym" Gary grinned to which Ash gave him a light punch in the arm "oh please Gary, I've been battling for nearly a decade I doubt I'm gonna lose" Ash boasted,
"Yeah but you tend to use new and inexperienced Pokemon in every new region, and last time I remember that didn't go so well in Unova" Leaf teased, "I thought we agreed to not talk about Unova"
"What happened in Unova that was so bad he doesn't talk about it," Serena asked Gary "he got his ass beat by a kid who had only five Pokemon against Ash's team of six" Gary wheezed and Ash groaned
"I don't know much about battling, but that's a bad thing right?" she questioned "yeah it's bad" Leaf joined in "back when Greninja was a Frogadier he got utterly destroyed even though he had years of experience over that kid's pokemon" Leaf elaborated, "can we talk about something else please!?" Ash pleaded,
"Alright fine" Gary replied sounding like he wanted to continue Ash's torture.
The four of them began walking down the sidewalk and Ash was telling Serena stories about his past adventure with Gary and occasionally Leaf chipping in to tell the embarrassing things Ash done, "He even dressed as a girl to get into a gym that he was denied access to because he insulted their perfume" Gary laughed "seriously!" Serena exclaimed "that's hilarious" Leaf then pulled what looked like a book out of Ash backpack while he wasn't looking "we even got a picture" Leaf grinned, Ash then turned around with a pained expression "please don't" he begged, the brunette flipped through a couple of pages before she stopped at a certain page, Leaf flipped the book around to show Serena an image of Ash in an ugly looking dress and wig which would barely pass for a woman "how did anyone even believe that disguise it horrible",
"Well back then he had quite a high pitched voice," Gary said, Ash snatched the book from Leaf and shoved it back in his backpack.
Soon they reached where they would split from Serena. "Well, I guess I will see you guys on Monday," Serena says which made Ash slip a sad expression which he quickly hid "yeah..." Ash mumbled
"well it's been fun to talk with you Sere and tell you about those embarrassing moments of my brothers," Leaf said and Serena giggled as she remembered the stories, she then turned and began to walk the opposite direction "Serena wait!" she turned around and saw Ash jog up to her "why don't you just come with us, it'll be more fun that way plus I wouldn't mind you watching my gym battle," Ash tells her, Serena then blushed, was Ash inviting her to tag along "I-I don't know, I mean my mom doesn't appreciate it when I make last-minute plans" Ash once again slipped a small frown "why don't you try, it's not like we're going to be climbing Prism Tower again," Serena thought about it quickly and decided she could give it a go "alright then I'll give it a go" Ash grinned brightly "but it's not a guarantee" but it didn't falter his smile this time "thats alright because at least we know we tried" Serena then pulled out her phone and pulled up her contacts and called her mom.
"Serena?" came her mom's voice through the phone
"Hey mom"
"Serena! where are you?" she asked
"I'm just with some friends" Serena informs her
"Alright then, are you nearly home?"
"Umm that's kinda why I called, can I go to Santalune city?" Serena asks hoping her mother won't ask too many questions
"Why are you going all the way out there?"
"Well Ash is going to have a gym battle there and he asked me to come with him" she explains
"Both of you alone?" when she asked that Serena felt her face heat up
"No not alone, his sister and their friend are coming too"
"But that would take at least four days to make it there and back, you'll miss two days of school"
"They said they have a way to make it there and back quickly," Serena told her as Ash and Leaf did say they have a way but they haven't told her yet
"Hmm, do you promise to not get into trouble like the last time you went out with that boy"
"I promise mom"
"Fine, but if anything happens then you will be grounded, is that understood?"
"Yes, I will be perfectly fine" Serena grinned happily "Alright, I'll see you as soon as I can. Bye"
"Bye"
"Ash!" Ash, Leaf and Gary turned and saw Serena jogging up to them "My mom said I can come!" Serena exclaimed giddily, Ash grinned and Leaf hugged her while rambling about how fun it is to travel while Gary just rolled his eyes and soon they set off into the forest "so how are we going to get there" Serena asks the raven-haired boy "we just have to find a clearing first" Ash tells her which confused her but she trusted him.
They have been travelling for the past hour and had finally decided to take a break and eat some snacks they all had their Pokemon out, Ash's team consisted of Greninja, Pikachu, Riolu and Charizard, Leaf's team was Venusaur, Pidgeot, Arcanine and Nidoqueen then Gary's was Blastoise, an Arcanine like Leaf, Nidoking, Scizor and Aerodactyl.
Serena's Fennekin was a bit overwhelmed about there being so many other Pokemon so she stayed close to either Serena or Greninja who she was most comfortable with.
"Here you go Riolu," Ash said handing him a berry 'Thanks partner!' exclaimed the young Pokemon and made Greninja roll his eyes when Riolu calls Ash partner, Riolu was about to bite into the berry when a blur of white and red shot past and took the berry, it then landed on a tree branch and ate the berry in one bite 'Hey! that was mine!' Riolu cried,
"What's that Pokemon?" Ash asked "It's a Fletchling, my mom owns one," Serena says "Hey Fletchling" Ash called "that wasn't very nice, you can't just take things that aren't yours" the bird tilted their head at Ash then laughed at him and mocked Ash in its pokemon speech.
Greninja stepped forward as he wasn't going to let this tiny bird insult his brother in this way "Gre Gren!" he exclaimed as he readied a water shuriken, but then he felt himself get shoved past, and he looked down to see the rookie Riolu taking a stance, Greninja tried to push the youngling out the way with his foot, but Ash stopped him "let Riolu batting Fletchling, he needs a taste of battle anyway" Greninja reluctantly backed down with an annoyed grunt and let Riolu take the front.
"Riolu use Quick Attack!" Ash ordered and the Pokemon complied as he sped forward as he leapt into the tree in an attempt to hit the bird but it managed to narrowly dodge it causing Riolu to drop out of the tree, Fletchling went in to use Peck but Riolu rolled away and dodged it "Use Force Palm" Riolu stuck out his palm and pummeled it into the Fletchling causing it to be forced back but Fletchling quickly recovered "Riolu use Quick Attack again" Ash called, Riolu charged at Fletchling but then Fletchling countered with its quick attack resulting in both of them being sent back, Ash gritted his teeth as he watched the flying type once again make a quick recovery "quickly use a Force Palm again" Riolu obeyed and crashed his palm into Fletchling this time buffering it "Now use feint while Fletchling recovers" Riolu crashed into Fletchling knocking it down,
"Alright good job Riolu" Ash praised "Go Pokeball" Ash yelled as the round device hit the bird sucking it in with a red beam of light,
It shook once... then twice
"Come on" Ash muttered. Before the third shake came, Fletchling escaped making them frown "alright then, Riolu finish this with one last quick attack" Riolu proceeded to bash into the bird and then returned to Ash's side.
"This is gonna be the one," Ash says to himself as he throws another Pokeball,
One shake...
Two shakes...
Three shakes... It then made a ding sound as it indicated its successful capture "Alright! I caught a Fletchling!" Ash cheered "good job Ash," Leaf praised her older brother "yeah, not bad for you Ashy-boy" Gary grinned
"That was a great battle Ash," Serena tells Ash "heh, thanks" Ash smiled "alright, come on out Fletchling!" he called as he threw the Pokeball in the air and the bird then materialised, Ash pulled out his Pokedex to scan it

Ability: Big Pecks
Moves: Peck, Quick Attack, Growl
"Fletch?" the bird tilted its head in confusion "hey there Fletchling. I'm Ash and I'm your trainer now" Ash smiled as he knelt in front of Fletchling "welcome to the team" he grinned as the bird chirped happily.
"I think we should start going now if we want to make it to Santalune before it's dark," Gary tells the group "Yeah you're right, so we should try to find a clearing now," Leaf says
"Let's go then" Serena then got up returning Fennekin to her Pokeball, and the rest followed except Greninja, Pikachu and Riolu.
They searched for around twenty minutes before they found an open enough field where they now stand "so why did we need to come here?" Serena asks Ash "well, we needed fast transport, but we wouldn't be able to do that in a dense forest," Ash told her, Serena was just as confused as before, but then she realised what he means "I am so not doing that" she protests "why not" Ash grins as he and Leaf tossed a Pokeball into the air revealing their Charizard and Pidgeot "wait, but Gary and I don't have a Pokemon that we can fly on" Serena reminded them "That's fine Charizard and Pidgeot are big enough, ain't that right sis!" he called out
"Yep!" she then climbed on top of her Pokemon with Pikachu then pulling Gary up with her "w-wait no!" Gary cried "I can't ride on the back, that's the bitch seat" he whined "Yeah well you are a bitch" Leaf retorted, Gary climbed on reluctantly "I'm a victim, I feel like the victim" he sobbed as Pidgeot took to the air.
"Serena?" Ash asked "Yeah?" she replied, "You getting on?" he said "but there's four of us, I don't think we can all fit," Serena tells him, he then counted them and realised "crap" he muttered "Greninja?" he asked "Gre" he replied "are you able to get in your Pokeball?" he requested "Gre!" he exclaimed angrily "Greninja there's not enough space and you're bigger than Riolu, can you please do this, just this once, I promise next time we will have a better plan" Ash reasoned, "Grenin..." the Pokemon muttered sadly before accepting to go into his Pokeball "I'm sorry Greninja," Ash said as he held the Pokeball in his hand "come on Serena," Ash said as he held his hand out to her, Serena shyly took his hand and sat onto his Charizard "hold on tight Serena" Ash warned, "but what do I hold onto?" she asked "just hold onto me," he said which made Serena blush like mad as she never really thought she would ever hold him like how she is now, the fire type began to flap his wings which rustled the grass beneath them before descending immediately into the air.
Serena screamed as they rose higher into the sky "can you not scream in my ear" Ash winced "s-sorry", at first they were flying at a slow pace before Ash saw Leaf's Pidgeot in the distance which made him order Charizard to go faster and Serena let out a yelp as Charizard picked up an extreme pace in a few seconds, once they were close enough they could still hear Gary whining "still being a cry baby huh" Ash laughed
"I do not trust her, she's probably gonna make me fall off intentionally!" he cried "Oh please if I wanted to do that I would have done it by now," she said as she quickly dipped down getting a girly scream from the boy behind her "you have no regard for my safety" Gary huffed, Ash and Serena laughed at Gary's whining "hey sis! race you!" Ash yelled as Charizard began to speed past startling Serena as she gripped tighter to Ash "hey! no fair, you had a head start" Leaf yelled behind them.
Ash and Leaf have been going at high speeds for nearly an hour and it was starting to make Serena dizzy "argh... how much longer is this ride gonna be?" she groaned "at least another hour so not long" Serena sighed as for her that felt forever "can we slow down at least?", "but what about the race?" Ash whined "please? do it for Riolu, look at him" Ash looked at Riolu in his lap and realised why he has been so quiet, he was scared out of his wits from the speed Charizard was going, he needs to stop forgetting that Riolu is not even a year old so its gonna be harder for him to handle than his other Pokemon e.g. extreme flights and battles.
"Alright, I'll slow down" Charizard spread his wings out into a stationary position and rode the air at a much slower pace than before "thanks" Serena smiled as she felt like she could relax her grip without falling off and Riolu seemed to calm down as well "man, it's starting to get dark now" Ash frowned "let's hope we don't get to Santalune to late into the night".
"What took you guys so long!" Gary smirked as he approached Ash and Serena while they were dismounting from Charizard "well it's Serena and Riolu who wanted to slow down" Ash says as he returned Charizard to his Pokeball "sorry" Serena apologized holding her head down,
"It's fine" Ash then brought Greninja back out since Greninja didn't like being in there too long when there's a chance to get out, "did you guys get some rooms at the Pokemon Center?" Ash asked Gary,
"Leaf is doing that now, I came here to wait for you guys. Let's get back there now since she will be expecting us by now" Gary then began walking with everyone else trailing behind him.
"There you guys are, I was starting to think something bad happened," Leaf said with a sigh of relief "Well as you can see we are fine, not climbing any towers this time" Serena joked, to which Leaf gave an eye roll "yeah well I won't be surprised if that happened again" making everyone laugh "any way you got the rooms?" Serena asked Leaf "yep, we'll have one room and the boys will have the other" she then gave Ash a room key which had the number '087' "Serena and I have '086' so we'll be right next to you guys", "sweet. Let's go, Gary, see you two in the morning" Ash and Gary walked to the hall that leads to the rooms.
"Not gonna lie, but I'm quite excited to see Ash win his badge," Serena said to Leaf as they got ready for bed "heh, of course, you are" Leaf smirked making Serena blush "but I don't know if he will win it first try" Leaf put bluntly "what! why? you're his sister I thought you would believe in him and his experienced" Serena was surprised that Leaf would even say that "well you already know how he completely flopped in Unova and we won't know if he's got his game back until his battle",
"I guess you're right... well I hope he wins anyway"
"Again we don't know what could happen, it's fifty-fifty" she reminded
"Well, I'll be cheering for him".
"Ash wait up!" Gary called as Ash ran ahead "why don't you just speed up!" Ash yelled back as he continued running "dammit his like an eight-year-old" Gary groaned "yeah an eight-year-old that kept beating you in battle so much that you switch to becoming a researcher" Leaf teased "I-I... First of all! that is not why I changed careers!" he retorted,
"Guys hurry up!" Ash yelled, "Is he always this energetic?" Serena sweatdropped
"you have no idea" Gary replied, "Come on already!" the rest of them ran to catch up with Ash who was jogging on the spot as he waited for everyone "Ash, do you even know where the gym is?" Leaf asked
"No idea!" Ash replied enthusiastically making everyone facepalm "so we've just been mindlessly wandering this whole time" Gary complained, "why didn't you just ask someone where it was?" Leaf questioned him, Ash stood up on the short wall of the fountain next to him and struck a pose "I figure stuff out best when I run, keep moving ahead and you can't go wrong! that's the way we roll" Riolu and Greninja came out of their Pokeballs and Pikachu jumped out of his backpack and they all struck a pose similar to Ash's making the others smile.
They heard the snap of a camera and saw a woman holding a professional photography camera, "thanks so much for the great pic! the four of you seem to have the makings of a great team" the lady praised "thanks, these three are my partners Greninja, Pikachu and Riolu" the woman let out a small laugh "FYI if you're going to the Santalune gym make a right at that corner" she informed them pointing down the street,
"Awesome! thanks a lot for the info. I told you we can't go wrong" Ash said leaping off the fountain "let's go guys!" as he, Greninja, Pikachu and Riolu ran forward shouting a chorus of their Pokemon cries
"Ash wait for us!" Serena shouted as she and Gary ran after him "thank you for your help miss" Leaf bowed to her before running to catch up.
"If I remember correctly, the Santanlune gym favours bug types," Gary told Ash as they stood outside the gym, the doors suddenly opened and a black and yellow Pokemon charged into Ash, "Ahhh" Ash yelled as he fell to the ground "Heli Helioptile" the Pokemon cooed "hold on I know you-"
"Ash, Leaf, Gary!" said a brown-haired woman as she came out of the building, the Helioptile then jumped onto her shoulder "Alexa!" Ash smiled as he shook her hand as well as Leaf and Gary "I haven't seen you three since Unova last year" she laughed "and is this a new friend" she said as she shook Serena's hand "I'm Serena, nice to meet you miss Alexa" Serena replied "nice to meet you too, Serena"
"so what are you doing here Alexa" Leaf asked "I'm here visiting my sister" Alexa replied,
"oh yeah, I remember you saying you had a sister that was a gym leader," Gary said "yep, and I also see that you're Frogadier has evolved into Greninja now Ash," Alexa said as she watched Helioptile having fun with Ash's Pokemon "and you also have a new member of your team" she looked at the young Riolu "Yeah, he hatched from an egg I found not long ago. So since your sister is the gym leader can I challenge her?" Ash asked
"of course we just have to wait for Viola to get here," Alexa tells the group "Viola?" Serena repeated
"That's me!" they turned around and saw the same woman from earlier "nice to see you again" Viola smiled at the group "so you're Alexa's sister?" Ash looked at her.
"So I take it you already met one another?" Alexa asked "right, at the fountain. I took a picture of Ash and his three Pokemon," she said as she approached her sister, "Alexa said you wanted to challenge me while I was gone"
"I still do, how about it?" Ash asked "sure. Please come in".
"Wow... you took all these pictures, Viola?" Serena asked in wonder "uh-huh, although these are just a few of the pictures I've taken"
"She has quite the talent for photographing bug types, she even helps me out with my reporting time to time," Alexa says praising her younger sister "these are great, it shows your love for bug types well" Ash compliments. "So Ash, you ready for our battle?" Viola asks "Yeah I am!" Ash exclaims as he, Serena, Leaf, Gary and Ash's Pokemon follow her.
Ash and Viola stood on opposite sides of a small battlefield, a referee stood in next to the battlefield getting ready to initiate the battle "the gym battle between Ash the challenger and Viola the Santalune gym leader will now begin. Each side will have the use of two Pokemon and the battle will be over when either trainers' Pokemon are unable to continue, only the challenger may substitute Pokemon"
"My lens is always focused on victory no matter what. Surskit GO!" she then threw a Pokeball which revealed a blue Pokemon with the top of its head coloured yellow and slightly resembled a spider.
"My first Kalos gym battle and I'm gonna start it off with Fletchling" he released the bird Pokemon who chirped and got into a battle stance.
"Now battle begin!"
"Fletchling start it off with Quick Attack!" Fletchling burst forward ready to make contact "Surskit use Protect!" Surskir formed a turquoise coloured barrier which deflected Fletchling's attack
"Fly behind Surskit and use Peck!" Ash yelled. Fletchling then made its way behind Surskit,
"Surskit dodge it quickly" Fletchling beak flashed white before charging at Surskit but the bug type dodged with ease and it then begun to circle Fletchling with impressive speed "Fletchling use Quick Attack to stop it in its tracks" Fletchling sped at the moving Pokemon but missed by a landslide "not so fast Ash, your Fletchling is nowhere near fast enough for my Surskit" Ash gritted his teeth as he thought about what to do, 'Dammit, I'm messing this all up. Why did I use Fletchling, I haven't even given her any training yet argh!' Ash yelled internally.
"Fletchling focus on where Surskit will be not where it is, then use Peck!" Fletchling stopped moving for a second and began to focus on the opposing Pokemon and calculating where it would go next before flying up and her beak flashing the familiar white before charging in front of Surskit "Surskit use Ice Beam!" Viola commanded, a ball of blue formed around the pin shape on top of its head before it fired it which made contact with Fletchling before she could hit Surskit with Peck, "Fletch Fletchling" it cried as it was soon enveloped in an explosion and everyone except Alexa gasped at the power.
"My sister is very strong. Defeating her is no easy task" Alexa grinned "well I still believe Ash can do this" Serena replied optimistically.
"This is where it begins. Use Ice Beam on the field" Surskit then used the attack on the ground beneath it effectively freezing the field "Fletchling, fly in the sky so you can still battle without slipping" Ash yelled and the bird complied as it rose and kept its ground in the air "ling Fletch", "hmmm, I guess your lucky that you have a flying Pokemon that can avoid the field but I will still beat you" Viola boasted "Use Peck!" Ash called, Fletchling dived at Fletchling and made contact this time and sent Surskit spinning across the field,
"Pull it together Surskit and use Ice Beam" she ordered, Surskit stopped spinning and began to form another beam before firing it at Fletchling "Fletchling dodge it!" Fletchling managed to narrowly avoid it but Surskit kept the beam focused on Fletchling and soon Fletchling ran out of luck as her wing was hit by the Ice Beam encasing it in ice making it to heavy for Fletchling to fly and then Fletchling began hurdling towards the ground "Now finish it off with your picture-perfect Signal Beam" Surskit formed a Pink ball of energy and fired it at the still falling Fletchling and it soon made contact with the Flying-type creating an explosion like earlier, the dust cleared to reveal an out cold Fletchling.
"Fletchling is unable to battle, Surskit wins!" the ref announced. Ash returned Fletchling thanking her before returning the Pokeball to his belt,
"Your Fletchling battled well but its got a long way to go before it can beat my Surskit," Viola told Ash, "I'll beat it now with my next Pokemon" Ash replied. When Greninja heard that he got ready from the spectating area to hear his name called to battle and win this for Ash, like who else would Ash pick, Greninja is undoubtedly his strongest and most experienced, he could take it down in a single hit.
"Riolu I choose you!" Ash calls, once Greninja heard that he felt his heart shatter, seriously? he picked that newbie that struggled against a wild Fletchling to battle rather than his best friend, his most loyal Pokemon, the one who has been here whenever Ash needed him, his brother in arms.
Riolu jumped up from next to Greninja and rushed in front of Ash ready to win this. "Riolu make sure your careful since this field is extremely slippery so make sure you keep a grip" "Ri Riol" he responded
"Start things off with Force Palm!" Ash ordered, Riolu rushed forwards "Surskit use Ice Beam!", "Dodge it!" Riolu jumped above the beam and landed back on his two feet albeit he almost lost his footing but he landed and was able to use the ice to his advantage by using its slipperiness to dodge the Ice Beam quicker allowing him to get close to Surskit.
"Wow what amazing dodging skills Riolu has," Serena said in awe as it made things look simple "yep, it may be young but his clearly gifted" Gary observed. Greninja rolled his eyes as he heard the praise the youngling was being given, he could do that too you know and he can do 10 times better although that's mainly because his a water type and has webbed feet which are perfect for that situation but his point still stands, he just can't stand this new kid, he feels like he's being replaced, is it because of how bad he did back in Unova? is Ash giving up on him after seeing him mess up? no Ash would never do that but he's still making Greninja feel hurt whether he realises it or not.
The Force Palm soon made contact sending it flying back "Surskit, Sticky Web go!" Surskit then shot out balls of white that hit Riolu's feet and stuck him in place "Riol!" he cried as he felt his feet stuck "Riolu use Quick Attack with as much force possible to pull yourself out" Riolu complied and with the sudden speed boost and the strength he was pulling at they heard the webbing begin to tear and soon Riolu was free "alright! good job Riolu, keep this up and we'll win for sure" Ash called to the Pokemon which gave him a boost of confidence "Now finish things off with Feint" Ash yelled Riolu charged at Surskit and slammed his whole body into Surskit's with as much power he can resulting in the field being covered in smoke.
The spectators gasped hoping that Riolu would come out victorious, it took at least thirty seconds before it cleared and when they did they all cheered as they saw Riolu standing in front of an unconscious Surskit,
"Surskit is unable to battle, Riolu wins" declared the ref.
"Great job Riolu, I knew you wouldn't let me down," Ash said as Riolu gave him a small hug 'thanks partner, that was so fun' "Well we have to fight another Pokemon of Viola's so let's be careful as it's going to be less exhausted than you alright" Ash let the Pokemon walk back out onto the battlefield and he then took a battle stance "time to beat your next Pokemon Viola and get myself that gym badge!" Ash exclaimed confidently "It's not gonna be that easy, my gym leader prides on the line. Let's do this Vivillion" she sent out a Pokemon that resembled a butterfly with a grey body and wings that were mainly purple with a splash of other colours, the Vivillion flew up in the air as it awaited a command "Alright Riolu use Force Palm" Riolu jumped up in the air with his palm outstretched
"Vivillion use Psychic!" Riolu was then surrounded by a blue outline and was halted in mid-air "Rio Riolu!" the Pokemon yelled as he tried to fight out of the Psychic attack. Riolu was then lifted even further into the air then was plummeted into the battlefield "Riolu! are you all right?" he asked Riolu then staggered up
"Good job on that Riolu", "Vivillion use Gust!" Viola demanded, Vivillion then flapped its wings forcefully building up strong gusts of wind blowing Riolu down and keeping him at bay but because of the ice he soon lost his footing and blown into a wall getting caught in a stray Sticky Web from earlier,
"Riolu no!" Ash cried "you have to get out of there. I believe in you" Riolu struggled and struggled but couldn't escape "lu Riol" he groaned as he kept on trying.
"A picture-perfect opportunity" Viola smiled "Vivilion use Solar Beam" she ordered, Vivillion began to absorb the sunlight through the glass roof and it soon formed an orange ball of sunlight which it fired straight ahead and struck Riolu head-on "Noooo!" Ash exclaimed after the smoke cleared Riolu had fallen back onto the ground unconscious.
"Riolu is unable to battle, Vivillion wins which means the victory goes to Viola the gym leader!" the ref yelled excitedly, happy that the gym leader won obviously.
Everyone was shocked at suck a devastating defeat that Riolu suffered, he couldn't even land a single hit.
"Thanks a lot, Vivillion" Viola smiled as she returned her Pokemon
"Riolu!" Ash ran and scooped Riolu up in his arms "are you okay?" he asked the youngling in his arms "lu Rio Riol" he muttered. The others ran up to Ash and saw Riolu in his arms "were going to have to get him to the Pokemon Centre quickly" Gary says "alright..." Ash says quietly.
They all left the Santalune in silence with the defeat weighing down heavily on Ash.

So this is the latest chapter and I'm pretty happy with it, this was my first time ever writing battles so I know I need progress but I would like some feedback on either what I did good so I know to keep doing that next time and what I did bad so I know what to improve. I hope you didn't find my writing to messy but as I said at the start it would probably quite messy as I am practising formats.
