As art class ended, Keri joined Oscar, Carrie and Rose walking out of the class. She liked being with the new agents, not any more than the others but she still liked them. Dan, Tom and Aneshia weren't so pleased about Keri hanging out with the new agents but let her anyway because they didn't want to make her upset.
Before the agents could talk about their last class however, their communicators came to life.
"Here we go again." Oscar muttered.
The agents rushed back down to HQ. Oscar, Carrie, Rose and Keri were the first ones there being welcomed by Frank.
"Agents." Frank nodded looking for the other agents behind them.
"They'll catch up." Keri said in their defence.
"I thought you would come down together." Frank said, puzzled.
The four agents shrugged. Frank shook his head and pointed the remote at the computer screen. The screen came to life as three pictures came up.
"Three top scientists have gone missing." Frank sighed.
"How?" Rose asked, always being the first one to speak when scientists were involved.
"Someone broke in last night and got them." Frank answered.
"Did they take anything else?" Carrie asked.
"No thank goodness."
"Why? Where did they work?" Rose asked confused as to why Frank had said that.
"They worked with some of the most dangerous chemicals around!" Frank smiled.
The four agents in front of him smiled back. That was good news. Yes three people had been kidnapped but at least they could contain the situation down to just the agents involved and not the public.
"Your mission is to find them and bring them back safely." Frank said, outstretching his arms.
"Sounds easy enough." Keri said cracking her knuckles.
"It's never that easy!" Oscar smiled at her.
Carrie and Rose held back laughter. Oscar always had a way with any new girl in his life and it looked like Keri was no different. The lift pinged as the other three agents joined them.
"Where have you been?" Frank asked them as they joined the team.
"Mr Flatley had something to say to us." Tom said, staring at Keri.
"So what's the mission?" Aneshia asked excitedly, rubbing her hands together.
"Ummm." Frank tried to say looking over at Keri, Oscar, Rose and Carrie for support on how to tell them.
"We've already got the mission." Carrie spoke up for Frank.
"What?!" Dan nearly screamed as he stared at Frank for some kind of answer.
"They were just here before you. I had already told them when you came down." Frank spoke up for himself.
Dan kissed his teeth as he looked everywhere apart from Frank and the other agents. Tom and Aneshia weren't feeling too keen to share their mission either. It was clear to the old team that they were not welcome and the new team would rather do the mission on their own. Frank could sense the tension in the room.
"Can you please work together?" Frank begged either side.
"No!" Everyone bar Keri shouted.
Keri stared at the ground when everyone said this. She didn't know how to feel. She liked all of the people on both sides, how was she going to choose?
"Well if you've given them the mission, they can have it!" Dan waved at the other agents.
"Thank you." Oscar muttered under his breath.
"Come on guys we're going." Dan said to Aneshia, Tom and Keri.
As Aneshia, Tom and Dan left Keri stayed behind with the others. When they had realised this they turned around to find out why.
"Keri?" Tom asked confused as to why she isn't going with them.
"I want to stay with them." Keri said quietly as to not anger her team.
The three agents looked at each other in surprise at this admission. They couldn't believe that Keri would rather do the mission with those agents!
"Fine. Have fun with your new team!" Dan said as he left first.
"Dan…." Keri tried to say.
But it was too late. Aneshia, Tom and Dan had already gone. Keri turned to the new agents. Oscar, Carrie and Rose welcomed her with open arms much to Keri's surprise after all that.
"Right. Where shall we look first?" Rose asked, coming out of the hug.
"Their lab. It might give you some clues as to who took them." Frank said, still a little bit angry at his agent's conduct.
The agents nodded as they saw the frustration on Frank's face. Maybe it was a good thing that they were leaving to go on a mission. They nodded at Frank and then headed out of the door to their new mission.

Dan, Aneshia and Tom were outside in the courtyard of the school. They weren't waiting for the others to join them and wanted to keep well away from them at the moment.
"I can't believe Keri ditched us!" Dan sighed.
"Well if she wants to join the new team then she can go ahead." Aneshia tried to bargain.
"Yeah. She's made her bed now she can lie in it!" Dan said, trying to cool down.
Tom and Aneshia looked at each other. Whatever they tried, they weren't going to calm Dan down especially when Keri was involved.
"I would have thought we were going to get a mission at least!" Tom finally admitted.
"Yeah. I mean Frank can't even give us one!" Dan pointed at his friend.
"I'm sure we'll get one soon." Aneshia tried to say.
"Yeah when the other team messes it up." Dan muttered under his breath out of frustration.
Tom nodded as Aneshia stayed back from answering that. She didn't want to make fun of the other team however, much they annoyed her. She just hoped the team would fluff up a little so they had something to do instead of staying in school all day.

Meanwhile the old team had made their way to the lab where the scientists had been taken from. Keri liked the speediness of this team and how they worked well together. She thought she would fit in well. They reached the door of the lab which had pretty much been bashed in.
"Looks like the scientists had a nice time here." Oscar said looking into the lab which had been turned upside down.
This was weird as the kidnappers hadn't taken anything but it was clear the scientists had tried to fight back with a lot of test tubes smashed on the floor.
"I wonder what they were working on." Carrie said looking around.
"Nothing in the public eye." Rose said sadly.
"Why wouldn't they take anything then? You know the kidnappers." Keri suggested.
The team looked around the lab. Everything was still in place apart from what had ended up on the floor. Suddenly something else came to Rose's mind from an old case they had solved.
"What if they just wanted the scientists." Rose said, rubbing her chin.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Keri asked.
"Maybe they just wanted to have the scientists so they could work on something." Rose continued.
The whole team gasped. Rose was right, if the kidnappers didn't want anything from the lab, then all they needed was the scientists to work on something.
"We need to contact Frank." Carrie said, picking up her communicator.
She tried to use it but failed, ending with a confused look from the others.
"The communicator won't work." Carrie stared at the pencil.
"Try mine." Keri passed her pencil over.
Carrie took Keri's communicator which looked a lot more newer than her own. Even though it might be the newest model, it still didn't work. Carrie gave the pencil back to Keri and thanked her.
"Doesn't work." Carrie said, turning back to her team.
"You don't think it's being jammed do you?" Keri suggested.
"But why would anyone want to jam our signal out here?" Rose asked her team.
"Unless the kidnappers have left something behind." Oscar said with his eyes darting around the room.
The rest of the team joined Oscar in checking the whole room for jamming devices. They couldn't see anything obvious but there had to be something. Suddenly Keri noticed something that caught her eye.
"There." Keri pointed to one of the table tops.
On top of it was what looked like a water bottle. The team realised why it stuck out in the middle of a lab. Any good scientist knew that liquids could damage or ruin anything they were working on. Rose went over to it and picked it up.
"Here we go." Rose said breaking it open.
Inside there was a jamming device. Rose looked over at Carrie and put it on the floor. Carrie knew what Rose wanted her to do. She stamped down hard on the device which made it sizzle a little and then power down.
"Try the communicator now." Rose said to Carrie pointing at the pencil in Carrie's hand.
Carrie turned on her communicator ready to hear something out of it. Luckily she got something on the other end.
"Frank?" Carrie asked into the pencil which would look weird to anyone apart from the MI-High team.
"What is it Carrie?" Frank's voice came back.
"We have a reason why the scientists were taken and it looks like we know who took them." Carrie nodded at the rest of her team.
"Good. Now bring it back to HQ and we can discuss it further." Frank ended the communication.
Carrie put her communicator away and faced her team once again. They all then headed out of the lab making sure they were still looking for anything unusual that could be linked to the kidnappers.
