Sam and Jacob started the meeting in human form, as usual. With two packs, it is easier, though eventually we all phase and run. Sam leads one pack. Jacob leads the other. It's smaller, but I like it. It's just Jacob, Leah, Paul, and me. The problem with phasing is that there is no way I can keep the thing with Kate secret. I realized something at that moment- I didn't want to keep it secret. I'll get their advice, and do what seems best, I thought. Then the moment came, and I changed into my wolf form.

I imprinted on Katie.

Leah: That's great! When did it happen? Who? And don't tell Sam yet.

Seth: I haven't told Katie yet, why would I tell Sam? He isn't my alpha. But I bet he'll find out soon enough. It is nearly impossible to keep a secret around here.

Jacob: Katie is a nice girl. When did it happen?

Seth: Yesterday when Katie fainted at school. I tried to catch her and then when she came to, there was the second and I knew.

Leah: That's great. What do you mean you haven't told her yet?

Seth: There wasn't really a good time between the ambulance ride and the hospital to tell her. But you aren't going to like who does know.

Jacob: Who?

Seth: Dr. Carlisle Cullen.

Jacob: How does that cold, bloodsucker vampire know?

Seth: He needed to test Katie's blood pressure lying, sitting, and standing. When she stood, he had me stand on one side and he was on the other. When she started to faint, I couldn't help myself- I didn't want Katie to fall so I tried to push him out of the way. I didn't succeed. I just hurt my hand. Then when Katie went for her scan, he came and asked me. He said he knew because I had the same look you do around Nessie.

Leah: So now the vampire knows before we did. Sam isn't going to like this,

Seth: Do we have to tell them? Sam isn't the only one who doesn't know. Katie doesn't know yet. She doesn't know about the imprinting or the wolf thing.

Jacob: Good. Are you going to tell Katie?

Seth: I think I'll have to. After all, there is the whole Imprint mind reading thing. I don't think I can keep it from her for long.

Leah: What? You can read her mind?

Seth: Yes. It just like wolf telepathy. But I can read hers a bit even when not in wolf form.

Jacob: I can read Nessie's- but she is a hybrid.

Leah: Katie will figure it out. You need to tell her.

Seth: I want to. I just haven't figured out how. What if she freaks out and runs away?

Leah: Just tell her the truth. Katie's strong. She can handle this. I don't think this imprinted thing is one sided. It can't be. The bond is too strong.

Jacob: What about exposure? There are so many of us now. And Katie isn't a part of the tribe.

Leah: Well, the funny thing is, I remember hearing Sam talk to Dr. Blake. One of Katie's ancestors married a tribal woman. So, if that is true, Katie could have Quileute blood. Maybe that is the reason that she has telepathy. She has some blood. She won't want to expose you to danger. But I agree you must tell her. Sam might freak about exposure.

Jacob: The one thing we do have with the secret is that it is so crazy that most dismiss it. Three years ago, I thought that the legends were just that-legends. Then I turned into a wolf and learned that the girl I loved was in love with a vampire- our mortal enemy.

Leah: Well, this is Forks. Did I forget to tell you that the garden shop is run by gnomes?

Seth: Very funny. What do I tell Katie?

Leah: Tell her about the imprinting first. Oh, and don't tell Sam, yet.

Jacob: Why not?

Seth: Shouldn't I tell Katie first? I'll tell her about the imprint bond. And when that has sunk in, I can tell her about the wolf stuff.

Leah: Good plan. I know Katie needs to know. And let's face it, you will have to tell Sam eventually. I just hope he doesn't go too crazy.

Seth: Why are you do worried? What do think Sam would do? Forbid it?

Leah: He wouldn't forbid it. He might invoke some strange archaic test to see if Katie can handle it. I could totally see him coming up with Herculean tasks for Katie.

Jacob: Seth, don't worry. I'll talk to Sam. He may be a little crazy about exposure, but I can't blame him there. The good thing is that this is Forks- land of rain, where mythical creatures come to hide. Did I tell you that the fairies own the restaurant and the gnomes own the garden center?

Seth: Very funny.

Jacob: Trust me, Seth, it will be ok.

Leah: Who wants to run? Some of us have work in the morning.
