Hello everyone, I'm back with a new chapter. A long time coming. I'm sorry for the long wait, I was on vacation with family and there was only so much I could be working on in between now and then, but I'm back though, so no worries. Onwards with the story! Still not completely sure about the pairing for Emily for when she's old enough to start dating, any ideas? I had one idea that sounded good, but any more would be a good start for a voting poll. You could even create your own character with their own Pokemon team.

Emily was chilling out at the Pokemon Center with her pokemon when Ash finally arrived with Brock beside him, he was grinning brightly. "So I'm guessing you won your badge, Ash?" She asked him. Ash immediately, "sure did thanks to the training you made us go through Em. How's Phoenix?" He asked her.

Emily smiled and gently petted the newly evolved Charmeleon on the head. "She's doing alright, we went through some new training exercises that'll help her get used to her new body, I'm currently working out on a new schedule for the team." She said and became quiet for some time.

She had been thinking about what she could do in her travels but knew she probably wouldn't be able to do anything if she continued to travel with Ash. She cared about him, he was one of her very few friends, but she feels like she'll become stronger if she went out on her own, explore the world her way. So instead of getting ready with him, she stopped Ash in his excitement.

"Hey, Ash?" She asked him. He stopped chattering at Brock and turned to her, grinning all the while, but his Pikachu immediately had quieted and looked at her sadly, almost like the little electric mouse knew what she was about to do. "I know I said before we could travel together, but now that we've been out on the road, I've been thinking." He stopped grinning and stared at her in curiosity.

"Thinking about?" He asked her. "I've been thinking of going off by myself. It'll be easier to train, plus I plan on coming back to Professor Oak so I could study medicine, research Pokemon and their ways. I'll still continue gym battles, after all, I need eight badges if I want to be able to compete in the Pokemon League, but once this idea gets stuck in my head, I can't get rid of it. Would you be okay if I went off on my own?" She asked him quietly.

Ash was quiet, he wondered if maybe it was something he did that she wanted to go away, but it couldn't be that he knew for a fact. So maybe she just really wanted to learn more as she traveled. Then he thought to himself, they could meet up every now and then and maybe even battle each other to test the other to see how strong they've gotten and he immediately brighten up at the idea, of Emily being her first rival ever.

He gave her a bright grin in response, causing her and Brock to look at him in confusion. "As long as you promise for us to meet up now and then and have a battle, I'll always be happy that you're following your own dreams, Emily. No matter how far you'll go, we'll always be friends." He titled his favorite hat and gave her a thumbs-up, causing Emily to grin rather happily and hug him.

"Always do you, Ash, never change even if you find it to be a challenge." She whispered to him as she let go, Shade hopped back up on her shoulder as Pikachu did with Ash with her pokemon surrounding her with smiles on their faces. "Count on it, Emily." He said cheerfully to her.

Emily grinned at him brightly and made to get ready for the journey. "Well buy guys, hope to see you again soon, alright team, let's get going." She said to her pokemon, walking away from them all the while. Brock tapped Ash on the shoulder. "Hey Ash, now that my dad is back to take of things, how do you feel about me traveling along with you?" He asked him. Ash brighten up.

"Sure Brock, the more the merrier." He said gratefully and from there, the journey has begun.

It had been about a day or so since Emily had left behind Ash and Brock and already she missed her friend, but she knew this journey would be good for her. Hence why she wanted to go in the first place. Up through the road, she spotted something shining through a bush. Walking along with her team, she gasped when she spotted an egg and looked around the area for the parent.

Seeing nothing and even checking the area for anything living and finding nothing, she decided to grab the egg gently made a nest inside her backpack. She turned back to her team. "Come on guys, we gotta get back to where Professor Oak lives so we check in on this egg," she said to her team.

They went ahead and took the path that leads back to Professor Oak's lab. In between the journey from where she left Ash to the lab, Emily had improved her training with the team and over time, she started to notice how warm the egg was getting like it was on the way to hatching. She hoped to get to the lab before they hatched, she didn't have the necessary items to take care of a baby pokemon.

Approaching the hill, she started to recognize the area more and more as she approached what looked to be route two. She grinned at what she now considered home, the place that helped her feel safe. Spying the lab, she hurriedly made her way with her pokemon and knocked on the door once she approached it.

"Come in!" She heard Professor's voice speak out to her. She motioned for her team to come with her, letting them know that it was alright to enter. She spotted Oak at his desk, working on some papers. He looked up when he heard footsteps and surprised filled his face. "Ah Emily, I thought you were on your journey, did something happened?" He asked her.

She just smiled at him. "No nothing happened, but I came here for two purposes, one of them though needs to be checked on as soon as possible." She took out the abandoned egg she found on the way here and handed it to him, though for some reason, she detested the fact that the egg wasn't in her arms so she kept a tight watch on it. She watched Professor Oak monitor the egg through his machine before he walked back to her. "Egg seems to be healthy if a bit neglected, where did you find it?" He asked her curiously.

"I'm on my way here through route two and one. It was abandoned, I had my team hunt for any lingering scents of the parents. But it looked as though the egg had been abandoned some time ago." Emily told him. A sad look entered the Professor's eyes in the thought of the baby. Then he perked up a bit after. "What was the other reason you came by?" He asked her. Emily gave him a smile. "Well it'll be a while before I'm completely ready to challenge the Pokemon League, so I was wondering if you could teach me medicine while I'm training my team?" Traveling with Ash on her own for a bit made her want to learn how to care for herself and her Pokemon.

Professor Oak literally beamed in excitement. "I'm happy you asked me that Emily, I can most definitely see about teaching you medicine. But you are still going to collect gym badges right? You need those eight badges to be able to compete in the League." He said in slight concern. Emily gave him a light smile. "It'll be okay Professor, once I train my Pokemon in tip-top shape, and Phoenix evolves into a Charizard, she'll be able to fly me to the necessary places for the gym badges. I already have the two badges from the Rock and water type gyms." She stated calmly. Samuel Oak nodded in thought. "Alright then, let me think of ways in how I could show you the arts of medicine, so you just make yourself at home. Oh about the egg, do you want to be the Pokemon's trainer when it hatches? You are after all the one who found it." He asked her.

Emily looked towards the egg thoughtfully then turned to her partner, Shade. "What do you think Shade? Think we could handle it?" She asked her friend. His tail wagged immediately and he nodded to her. She turned back to the professor with a light grin. "Guess that answers your question Professor." She said, excited at what could hatch from the egg.

I'm going to stop the chapter from here. Sorry, it took so long but I just got a new job, I've been basically getting used to the new schedule so on my days off I'll be working on my chapters slowly but surely. So huge question, the pokemon in that egg will hatch as a shiny, the thing is though, it has to be a Pokemon from the Kanto region. What should the Egg hatch into? Review and let me know.
