Chapter 7: Distraction
Marinette hugged Alya and cried as Rose, Mylene, Alix, and the rest of the household left, having been dismissed.
"Girl, it's gonna be okay. You know, we can still see each other, even if I'm not working here anymore. It'll be okay," Alya told Marinette, trying to comfort her.
Marinette just sobbed. Finally, she was forced to let go as Alya had to leave.
"I'm so sorry Mari," Alya whispered to Marinette as she left.
With the servants gone, Marinette was left to do all the work. Her stepmother and Chloé told her that it "distracted her from her grief." Well, they sure were happy to provide her with lots... and lots... and lots of distraction.
Soon Marinette realized that her stepmother and stepsisters had come to regard her as a servant, not family. She had to do so much work now that she almost never had time for anything else, and they were all (with the occasional exception of Sabrina) horrible to her.
She simply couldn't understand why they were so cruel! They even made her eat nothing but their table scraps. Nevertheless, she had to have courage and be kind, and treasure this house for her father and mother like she had promised.
A/N: Sorry, I know it's really short and filler-y and I know that I haven't updated in a while, but I meant to update on Friday! I just got so distracted with the latest episode of The Mandalorian- if you're watching it and haven't gotten to the latest episode don't read this- I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT STUPID GIDEON GUY BLEW UP THE RAZORCREST! HE JUST CASUALLY BLEW IT UP FROM SPACE! I HATE HIM SO MUCH! THAT PART IS HONESTLY WORSE THAN HIM TAKING GROGU! But I do love how Boba is a good guy now. Um, anyways, sorry! Just had to get that rant out. Where were we? Oh, right. Mandalorian watchers can come back now! Well, the next day we started Christmas decorating (and BTW I am a bit obsessed, I've been wearing a christmas hat and singing carols practically nonstop all week), and me and my little sis spent 2 or 3 days cutting out tons of paper snowflakes and stringing them all to the basement ceiling (yes, that's what I've been doing instead of fanfiction), so yeah... well, we're probably gonna cool down on the Christmas decorating now that we've got almost everything up, so I might have more time to update! Wow, I took a really long time to explain that, didn't I? Anyways, please review (I shouldn't have to remind everyone except for Potato to do that, should I?), and thanks for all the views, over 600! Gosh this is long, I'm gonna shut up and wrap it up.
Potato: Thanks for your dedication and reviews, it is much appreciated. I wish that other people *cough cough* would review as much as you do (or at all, really). I agree, it would take a lot to satisfactorily redeem Lie-la... no, that's an understatement, it would take way more than a lot.
