He was sure he had heard her wrong. It couldn't be... She had a crush on him?! But she couldn't know his identity! So he said he first thing that popped into his brain.

'Umm who's Chat?'

It seemed like Ladybug's face couldn't choose to look amused or confused.

'I-I-I mean w-whos A-Adrien?'

Ladybug rolled her eyes. 'Umm YOU!'

Dang it. She knew!

He bowed his head in shame. Now she was gonna hate him forever! He found her identity when she was so determined about keeping their identities secret. Also...

Chat knew what was coming next. With utter heartbreak, he slid the destructive miraculous off his index finger, becoming Adrien once more, and held it out to her. Shutting his eyes, he played through his memories with Plagg, with Ladybug, with Paris.

He couldn't bear it if all that was taken away from his life. No more Plagg would mean no more cheese which would mean no more stink. But then it wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be... home...

And no more Chat Noir would mean no more freedom, more lonlieness with no Plagg or Ladybug.

Ladybug...

How he would survive without her was a mystery to him, but if giving up his miraculous meant she would be safe was enough for him.

And there he waited patiently. For his Lady to pick up the powerful ring-his escape to reality-from his palm, take off into the night... Leaving him forever.

Ladybug looked surprised for a second but then she sighed, closing up his fingers around the ring and pushing it back to him. "As Master Fu is not guarding the miraculous anymore..." Her voice broke. "I am the new guardian and I choose my own rules. So I am not going to take your miraculous and I NEVER will."

Chat finally had the courage to open his eyes and look into her beautiful lol blue ones instead. "But My Lady-"

"But nothing! You are the only cat due this ladybug Adrien," she said softly, dropping her transformation and becoming the adorable girl who sat behind him in class. The girl who has stolen his heart. " I can't do this without you, and you are the only I've who can't see that, us against the world remember?"

And with those words she began to lean in. Almost automatically, Adrien began to lean in as well, cupping her face in the process.

Their lips had barely brushed when they heard:

"YAAAAAAAAAAS THAT WAS SO CUUUUUUTEEEE!!!!!"

"EMMA!"
