"Alright," the Doctor said, removing the last medical alien device he had. "You are official issued a clean bill of health. You're fine."
"Could have told you that." Cara said, jumping off the bed, true to her word she had been silent the entire time the Doctor was bleeping her, pointing things at her and basically giving her a full body check-up; mind included.
"I have to make sure." the Doctor said, tucking away his devices. "You have no idea, what kind of damage Cassandra could have done to you. You might not have recovered from it."
"I know, but…" Cara paused not sure how to end her sentence.
How could she say it; how could she say that it wasn't important, that it didn't matter; because she didn't. How could she say, that that his kindness scared her. Because one day, he might not be.
How could she say, that she was scared that if she got too close she might get burned again.
"You had more important things to do." she said, shooting him a smile, turning to the door. "Kay, I'm gonna go-"
"You matter, Cara." The Doctor said softly, making her freeze. "You are the only thing that matters."
Once again, the mind-reading had been forgotten on her part. Stupid. "You're not stupid." The Doctor said, calmly. "Please stop…" Cara mumbled, sitting back down on the bed. "Please don't lie."
"What do you mean?" the Doctor said, turning around looking at her. The eye contract was still strange to her, usually she would always avoid it. But with the Doctor (as much as she tried) she couldn't avoid his.
"I'm the only thing that matters," Cara repeated. "Come on Doc, we both know that's not true." she mumbled, glancing to a corner of the room. "You just don't wanna admit it…It's not bad or anything, I just…I-"
'I don't want to get in the way…'
"Cara, Cara look at me, please." the Doctor said, gently tucking some of her hair behind her ear. "Love is a hard thing, it comes and goes, but one thing I've learned is that—I can't love someone in the way that you're thinking. They may be able to spend their entire lives with me, but I can't do the same for them."
"And I know, how Rose feels, but my priorities; they aren't her—"
"But, they could be. If I wasn't around you could—"
"No. If you weren't around…It wouldn't have been better…Not in the slightest. But you Cara, you're my Time Tot and I know, you don't understand that—not yet, but in any situation, all the time, every time. You come first." The Doctor said, a soft smile as he continued to stroke her hair.
"Rose is my friend, and I love her very much; as my friend. You are my child, Cara. You're my daughter and it's okay if, you don't see me like a father and it's alright if you can't accept that right now."
"But I'm here. And I'm not going anywhere." The Doctor said, wiping a stray tear from her face. Cara touched, her cheek, she hadn't even noticed she was crying. "Promise?" she whispered.
"Promise."
"So, one chance?" the Doctor said, fidgeting with his sonic. "Hmm?" Cara said, looking up, too preoccupied, watching the Doctor, tossing the sonic. It was so cool.
"One chance," the Doctor repeated, pausing in his sonic flipping. "If you want to go home, Cara…it's okay, wouldn't blame you after Cassandra and the infected...I could come too, stay in…London…get a….flat and…a job..." the Doctor spluttered, seeming terrified at the prospect.
"Doc—"
"It would be different, but a safe environment would be the best…Yes, I'll tell Rose, drop her home—"
"Doc—"
"Normal life can't be that bad-I mean humans do it all the time."
"Doctor!" Cara called out, sharply cutting him off. "I want to stay." she said, the TARDIS making the lights flicker like mad. "You do?"
Cara nodded. "Yeah, the hospital was—terrifying and dangerous, but it was also—the most brilliant experience of my life. And I'm sure I've lived a lot less than you, so I don't have much to compare to. I want to stay, with you. And the TARIDS." Cara added.
The Doctor smiled, a big infectious smile that instantly made her grin too. "Fantastic!"
"Where are we going?" Cara giggled, as the Doctor dragged her to the console room. "Anywhere. What's the one place you've always wanted to go to?" the Doctor asked, flipping down levers and flicking on switches.
Cara paused, suddenly glancing at the TARDIS doors. "Are we near Earth?"
"Orbiting 'round Jupiter, why?"
Cara ran to the door, yanking them open. Looking out the stars, she could find. "There." Cara said pointing to a far off star. It was small, but bright. A strong illuminating light that made you feel as if the star possessed magic.
"Proxima Centauri!" the Doctor cried, in joy sticking his head out. "Good choice, lovely place, gorgeous planets; huge things. Let's go!" he cried, flipping big lever; the TARIDS Noise filling the room.
Cara laughed, shutting the door and they were off.
Cronarus Mobius, a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri was the greatest place she ever stepped foot on. (Though she felt like that would change quite a bit)
It was bright place, despite the light of their star barely reaching them; filled with lilac plants due to Proximx's 'cold light and lack of warmth.
Apparently in three hundred years, the star with turn into a cold star. Despite this, the place had the kindest creatures called, Flowasrs. Inhabitants that were like giant butterfly's and birds with long wings that felt like pure silk, and slipped through her fingers.
It rained flowers and the trees talked of magic and mystery through thoughts and angelic like songs.
After dancing though the flowers and running on the water, she and the Doctor had travelled to Alirairs.
A planet in a far off galaxy that rained starlight, and had crystal as lightbulbs not to mention the best ice-cream she and ever eaten.
They had so much fun, laughing and talking and having fun. They hadn't even noticed the time…
"I still can't believe you; duelled the Granderliermaster and ate a pear ice-cream, to convince them we were dignitaries!" Cara giggled, taking a spoonful of her ice-cream as the Doctor opened the TARDIS door.
"Well, it's quite easy if you spit it—Oh!" the Doctor paused, Cara peaking over his shoulder.
"Oh, there you are." Rose said awkwardly, standing in the middle of the room. "Wondering where you gone." she mumbled, spotting Cara from behind him.
"Oh, we just went out, got ice-cream while you were sleeping." The Doctor said lightly, Rose nodded. "Ah, so where'd you two go?" she asked.
"Oh, well just Proxima Centauri," The Doctor answered. Rose bit her lip. "Never been there, why, why didn't you wake me."
Cara glancing at the Doctor; that was a surprisingly good question. Why didn't they wake Rose? She had forgotten (then again she never really knew Rose that well; only really talking to her when Cassandra inhabited her body) but the Doctor and Rose seemed to be extremely close.
"Didn't want to disturb you; humans and their sleep. Cara and I don't really need much and she napped for a while; before I gave her a check-up. So, I decided we should go have some fun." The Doctor said, lightly, but Cara could hear a light edge in his voice. "Problem?"
Rose shook her head. "No, no." she said shaking her head, watching Cara as she jumped out from behind the Doctor; patting the TARDIS, watching it glow, and making a noise.
"Not at all."
