If you can't already tell, this is going to be a long story, I know how far I could go with it at least. I don't want to give too many spoilers, but I plan on this fanfiction going on for a long while longer. So rest assured, this fanfiction will have many many more chapters to go:) Also this chapter is going to be like the last one, it will have a short summary of (4x04) and the majority of the chapter will be from the fifth episode.

Elena Pov

I lost control with Matt, so Damon decided it would be the perfect time to go on a field trip to Whitmire. Bonnie was already going to collect a few of her Gram's things from her old office. It didn't help at all, I lost control and did very regrettable things with Damon. As soon as I was dropped off, I ran home and cried. I am not this person. I can't be.

Stefan Pov

There was a cure. For the first time in weeks, there was hope. She could be human again. That was the only good news though, I had Rebekah daggered by Klaus in order to be able to find the sword. And Connor had escaped and taken a Hybrid's head with him. He could kill any one of us, and with Klaus in italy retrieving the sword, the cure was oceans away.

Elena Pov

Connor texted Caroline, Tyler, Damon, and Stefan. He has Jeremy, Matt, and April at the grill. I hated this. I can't lose another family member. We all met at the Lockwood's mansion. I had called Jenna, and Ric over too, I didn't want them to be out of the loop. We were all sitting here trying to come up with a plan. Stefan decided he was going to do recon and we would wait to see what he found out. After he left Damon asked if Ric still had the plans for the tunnel. Me, Jenna, Ric, and Damon got to his apartment and Alaric pulled out the plans. "What the hell do we need these for again?" Jenna asked

"Well" Ric began " I'm assuming it's because some of these tunnels run right into the Grill." Damon took a picture and rolled up the map "Bingo." Stefan called and said he was on his way and we told him about the tunnels.

He opened the door " Klaus has a man coming from the front, while we will go in through the tunnels. They started arguing "Are you being compelled?" Damon asked

"What the hell is wrong with you two?" Ric asked from behind me. Damon started to take off, when Stefan stabbed him in the shoulder with a vervain syringe. "Stefan!" I yelled and he took off. Damon was down for the count and Stefan was clearly going to get himself killed. There was however one person I know who can't die. I pulled out my phone. " What are you doing?" Jenna asked.

"Calling in a favor" I said before snapping a picture of the map and dialing a number. I started for the door " Elena, wait, Im going with you" Ric said before following. I turned around " No, Ric you can't, I can't lose you" I look to Jenna " Either of you."

"As much as I will always love my parents, you guys are the best people who could have filled the role. I can't lose anymore of you ." I said with blurry eyes. "Oh sweetie" Jenna and Ric came over to me and gave me a hug.

"Elena you can't go alone" I pulled back " I'm not" I said as I heard a voice coming from my phone. "Speak of the devil" I said and raised the phone to my ear.

Kol Pov

I was walking through the mansion, when I heard a buzzing in my pocket. I fished around for it and looked at the name before answering it with a smile on my face. "To what do I owe this pleasure, darling?" I heard her say speak of the devil on the other line. If only you knew, I thought to myself. I heard footsteps and a door shut on the other line, her voice rang through "Kol." She sighed "I hate to ask you for a favor, but it's Jeremy." she had my attention at that, I let her continue." The hunter has him, Matt, and April at the grill."

"He has werewolf venom" she finished. "Where are you?" I asked already walking outside to my motorcycle. " I'll text you the address." she said and I heard the ding come from my phone. When I saw it, I spoke into the phone "I'll be there in 10" I hung up and zoomed through the street back into town. When I got to the address, she was already waiting outside. I undid my helmet and she I got up, I placed it on the seat .

"Now darling, what is the plan? You neglected to mention that bit, unless you just plan on me barging in there and playing 'hero' " I smirked. She walked up to me " There are tunnels that lead throughout the town, one that leads directly into the grill. Stefan said that Klaus is having a hybrid go in through the front as a distraction."

"And where is Stefan?" I asked. "He ran off to the tunnels, without a map." I nodded slightly.

She starts walking down the street "There's an entrance to the tunnels in the boiler room at the town hall" and I jog up to her and start to match her pace.

Jeremy Pov

Connor was telling me all these things and they were almost impossible to process. He said we had full conversations yesterday, and that I was a potential hunter. I didn't hate vampires, I can't imagine being like him; having the urge to kill. That's when Connor reached over the bar to grab a drink, and I saw him.

Elena Pov

We walk up to the building and start to walk into the building. I start looking around for the boiler room when Kol calls out to me " I think I found it" he pushes open the door and I hear voices around the corner, I slipped past the door and silently shut it. I then descended the stairs and looked around for a vent grate. There were some oddly placed shelves that I wondered over to. I moved the boxes over and saw the vent. " Over here Kol" I called.

When he walked over to me he saw what caught my attention and pushed the held out of the way. I griped the grate and pulled at it. It was blocked up. I kicked at it and the bricks broke and fell down and clattered to the ground below. Kol nudged me out of the way and lowered himself down first before helping me down .

I looked at my phone to see my picture of the map and I led the way to the grill. There was another bricked up hole, which Kol swiftly broke with his fist. I saw Matt and April's heads poke through the hole.

When the got down with us, Matt spoke up " Why is he here again?" he motioned to Kol. " He's helping" I said shorty.

Wordlessly, he flashed to the opening and went inside the Grill, and I followed him. He turned around at me " No you are staying here."

I shook my head " No Jeremy is in there, I can't just-" he cut me off "You can and you will, I am an original, I cannot die by werewolf venom. You can, you're no good to anyone dead." and with that I jumped back into the tunnels and led April and Matt to the entrance at town hall.

Kol Pov

She hopped back down into the tunnels and I took a few steps forward. It smelt heavily of werewolf venom, and a hunter is likely to have traps. I scanned over the area through the small window on the door. I saw the hunter faced away from me sitting at the bar. Jeremy, however did see me, I pulled up my finger to my lips. It was too late, because the hunter traced his line if sight and made his way over. He hadn't seen me though, I hid behind a few shelves and when he walked in, I pounced. I knew I couldn't kill him, as he was one of the five and I didn't want to suffer the hunter's curse. I wrapped him in a choke hold from behind. He tried injecting me with venom, but I snapped his wrist with my free hand. He slowly lost consciousness and dropped to the floor. I opened the double doors to the main room and walked up to the bar.

"Jeremy Gilbert, fancy seeing you here" I said sarcastically while going behind the counter to get a drink. "Is he dead?" I heard him ask over the bar.

"Unfortunately, no it seems he has valuable information, he's simply incapacitated" I wasn't lying, but it was more of a half truth. As I took a swig of scotch I moved around the bar. "Now then, shall we?" I motioned to the double doors. "Elena and the others should be waiting at town hall by now."

He nodded and walked off, I took one more swig and got up. I heard scraping of metal and a bang. I looked up, the door was blocked. I flashed over and with a kick the makeshift barrier flew against the opposite wall. I walked in to see Jeremy and the hunter gone. How the hell did he wake up so fast?

Elena Pov

I just got Matt and April up into the boiler room, when I heard voices and footsteps in the direction of the grill. Before I knew what I was doing, I was flashing over to the voices and I saw Connor holding a knife to Jeremy's neck. Then Kol jumped down from the storage room. When Connor turned to face Kol he drew blood from Jeremy's neck, and I acted. I didn't even think about. I flashed up to him and snapped his neck. He dropped to the floor. Oh my God, I killed him.

Kol Pov

I quickly helped Jeremy up to the boiler, room and then flashed back to Elena dragging Connor's body through the tunnels. "Easy darling, I'll take care of it." I said putting my hand on her shoulder. "No, I need to bury him."

My eyes softened " Then I can help with that too" she looked back at me and gently set his body down. I had her move out of the way and I picked up his body and we made our way outside to the forest. I set him down and I went off to go find a shovel. I found one by the cemetery and flashed back to find her crying by his body.

"Hey" I said in a gentle voice. She looked up at me with teary eyes. She pulled me into a hug. "It's okay darling." I whispered into her ear.

"I don't want to be like this" she sobbed. "I know" I said comfortingly. I don't know why seeing her cry hurt me so much. We stayed like this for a few more minutes until she stopped crying. Then I got up and began to bury him. Soon after I heard the Salvatores approaching and whispered my goodbye in her ear as I flashed off.

Damon Pov

I woke up and ran after Stefan. I had no clue where Elena was, but I figured maybe they were together. When I found him lost in the tunnels I threw my hand into his chest. I needed to know why he was acting so strange. I never expected the words that came out of his mouth. There was a cure. I pulled my hand out of his chest. We went and searched everywhere for her and eventually found her in the woods, crying, sitting next to a mound in the ground. She looked up when got closer. " I killed him."

Elena Pov

I was writing in my journal when blood dripped down onto the paper. I checked my nose and when I didn't find any blood I stood up. There were huge puddles of blood leading to the bathroom. I followed them into my bathroom and it looked as if someone was murdered in there. I looked up at the mirror "killer" was written across it, I stumbled back and slipped. When I looked around it was all gone. It looked like it had never been there. What the hell just happened?

Hey please review, I wanna know what y'all want more/less of in this story. I liked the dynamic that they had in this chapter. Even on the show I thought they would have made a pretty great team, so I think I'm going to do a lot more of the ones where they work together. I just went through and edited the previous chapters and changed some things. I felt like things were moving too fast for my taste. Kol has had his emotions off for centuries by this point, it would have been unlikely that he would turn back his emotions for a girl after only knowing her a month.
