Percy
Oh, Hephaestus's underwear this was a mess.
What the hell am I supposed to do? Even in hell I knew what to do so I guess that expression doesn't work...
"Um..." I say not really good at being under pressure and wished I had one of the seven with me. They were much better at dealing with these things. Or Thalia. It me like a brick. Thalia.
I snap my fingers together. "Whatever you saw that was unusual didn't happen," I said trying to bend the mist the same way Thalia did so many years ago. I didn't have the skills of Hazel, but if Thalia could do so could I...right? I capped my sword to make sure they thought nothing happened.
"Mate, according to my eyes you pulled out a sword from your pocket and then put it back in there," Jake said with certainty.
"What?" Macy asked him with confusion. "I didn't see anything."
"How could you not see that?" Jake asked now also confused. Fish crap I made it worse. Why was Jake seeing everything still? Oh no.
"Jake...I need to talk to you...alone," I said. Not another one. I prayed that he just had the sight and was not a demigod. For his sake I hoped he could stay out of this. He doesn't have ADHD or dyslexia so that's a good sign.
"Sure?" he said confused. He walked towards me hesitantly not knowing what I wish to say to him.
"Stay here, don't move," I pleaded to my other friends hoping they would obey. I walked away from the group until I knew I was out of earshot.
I spin on my heel to face a very bemused Jake. A part of me wanted to send him back and not tell him anything, but if he was a demigod he would most likely die without proper training. It's a miracle he has survived this long.
"So...what weird things have you been seeing?" I asked him.
"Besides the Sword thing?" he asked. I nodded my head, motioning for him to continue, "well there was a one-eyed dude, a snake thing with two heads, and other things with like multiple animals squished into one. All of them you stabbed, and they turned gold though none of the others saw it. I thought I was going mad. Am I going mad?"
"Unfortunately, not. What you saw actually happened," I confirmed his sightings of my monster encounters.
"Unfortunately?"
"What I am about to tell you will not only explain a lot but also completely shatter your thoughts of this world. If you don't believe at first then fine, but it is the truth," I pause wondering on how I am going to tell him.
He looked at me unimpressed, "What is going to completely shatter me?" he asked repeating my words with mockery. It's always harder making an older person believe, they already had their set views and beliefs on the world.
"You know the Greek gods, right?" He nodded at me unsure of were this was heading. "Well, they are real and live in America...kind of." I start simple not going into Roman or Norse gods and especially not going into wizards and witches.
"Alright whatever mate. I would believe that they put some LSD or something into the food at a restaurant but gods? Your tripping," he starts to walk back towards the group. He of course did not believe a word I said, and I had only revealed the tip of the iceberg.
I chased after him, "Jake wait!" I called for him, but he had already made it back to the others. I groaned in annoyance and speed up to them.
"I've had enough of your nonsense," he told me, not letting me say a word.
"Nonsense? Oooh, tell me," Macy demanded. Ryder even seemed interested in the conversation.
"Percy here, was tying to convince me that Greek gods are fuckin real."
"No, I wasn't," I immediately say. I do not need them all tied into this. They need to leave. I should have just sent them away I need to get to Hogwarts and make sure everyone isn't dead.
I don't want anyone else to die.
"Yeah you were. He's fucking losing it because gods are not real," Jake exclaimed in defiance.
"Well, at least not the Greek kind," Macy added, once again Jake's atheist beliefs getting in the way of her Christian upbringing. Now was not the time for some long-winded discussion on beliefs, but the time of truth and the truth is, I need to go.
"Look, it doesn't matter," I try and steer the conversation away.
"Obviously it does or else you wouldn't have pulled me aside to tell me," Jake countered.
"He has a point," Charlie said actually engaging in the conversation.
They were as stubborn as Zeus and I give up. "Fine ok, I tried to convince him the Greek gods exist. Now can you guys go back home and leave me here?"
Multiple responses answered me.
"No," Macy replied.
"Why are you so convinced Greek gods exist?" Jake asked.
"Why?" questioned an annoyed Ryder.
"Look, it is safer for you to go back and forget about all of this," I tried to explain myself.
"Percy?" A voice spoke from behind me. I reached towards my pocket without thinking and turn around and face the green eyes of Rachel Elizabeth Dare. "What are you doing here? Are you okay?"
