Bloodbunny
Chapter 15
The Invitation
By: SmilingDolphins
Nick's eyes fluttered open. He tried to move but found he couldn't. He wasn't restrained. He just was so weak he couldn't move. Nick was lying on a hospital bed in a small room. Through the small window on the door, Nick could see bright fluorescent lights and medical equipment. His eyes then rested on the bunny that was sitting in a chair next to the door, looking down at her phone.
"Carrots?" He rasped. His voice sounded like dry leaves. It only came out as a barely audible whisper. Nevertheless, Judy heard him.
She looked up and met his eyes. Her emotions went from normal, to surprised, to relief, to happiness. Judy jumped out of the chair and rushed forward, crushing Nick in a hug.
"Nick!" She cried. He yelped as his left pectoral throbbed in pain from the sudden movement. Judy quickly let go.
"Sorry." She said meekly.
"S'okay." He mumbled.
Judy told him how had ordered a limo and an escort of bears to drive him to the hospital. When they got there, the deer behind the front desk refused to serve a fox. But when 4 polar bears walked over and stood behind Simon, Judy, and Lily, and crossed their arms, the deer quickly changed her mind. He had been in the hospital for 2 weeks. The doctors were stumped at first by a wound that was literally smoking, but they didn't ask any questions after asking Judy "what happened."
"He obviously got shot! Are you stupid!?" She yelled, waving her arms. "He a fucking police officer, and sometimes we get shot! Now fix him!"
The doctors did the best they could and eventually, Nick was stable. But as he was shot in the lung, he had to be on a respirator for the first week. Every 2 days, Judy would sneak some blood in to make sure he didn't get hungry. Once she finished, Judy laid on the bed with him. He slowly put his arm and held her.
Then, Nick's doctor, a young tiger walked in and spotted them snuggling. He froze in his tracks, clipboard in hand, eyes wide.
"Umm, do you two need a minute?" He asked.
"Oh no, I last much longer than a minute," Nick said a thin smiled plastered on his lips. Judy turned beet red.
"Nick Wilde!" She yelled, swatting his arm. He yelped again, and Judy went back into scared wife mode.
"Oh, sorry, sorry!" She said frantically. She realized the tiger was still there. She hopped down off the bed and tried to pretend as nothing happened.
"Yes, doctor?"
"Ummmmm..." The doctor was still in shock about what he had just seen. He shook his head and looked down at his clipboard.
"Um, Mr... uh... , you...um… should be good for discharge," The tiger winced, realizing what he just said. "Um… today." He finished.
He hurried out of the room. A few minutes later, a wolf dropped off a wheelchair and some release forms. Judy helped Nick into the chair, and they signed the release forms. They were about to head out when Nick stopped her.
"Wait," he said. He closed his eyes and concentrated. He started to become a vampire when he gasped and returned to normal halfway through.
He was too weak to even change. Judy wheeled him out of the room and down the hall. When they walked past the front desk, Judy flipped off the deer without even looking at her. Then, the rabbit and the fox walked out of the hospital.
It had been 2 months since Nick was discharged from the hospital. He had fully recovered and was back in business. He and Judy were ready to settle down, as much as you can settle down when you're a vampire. But little did they know, they were about to go on another adventure.
Nick began to kiss Judy when the doorbell rang. Judy started to pull away, but Nick pulled her right back.
"Ignore it." He said.
"Nick," Judy said. She tried to pull away again but Nick held on tight.
"Nick, we need to answer the door." Nick groaned.
"Nick I'm serious." The doorbell rang again. Nick sighed.
"Fine, this had better be good, or whoever's out there is not going to be very happy when I'm done chewing them out." Nick and Judy used their speed to get dressed and down to the door in record time. Nick opened the door to see a badger standing there.
"Nick and Judy Wilde?" he asked in an Italian accent. They both nodded, thinking had sent someone to talk to them. The badger walked in and sat down on the couch. Nic was about to say they hadn't invited him in when the badger spoke.
"My name is Luke. Luke Lamia Melis. I am a vampire, as are you, am I wrong?" The badger said. Nick and Judy stared at him, open-mouthed.
Nick raised a finger and pointed it.
"You're a vampire?" He asked, still dumbfounded. Instantly, the badger had red eyes and was standing in front of them. He had changed much faster than they ever had. It usually took about 3 seconds for them, but this badger did it instantly.
"Yes, I am." He said. The badger reached into his shirt and pulled out an envelope. He handed it to Nick.
"Everything will be explained there." He said. Nick and Judy peered down at the envelope, which had a red wax seal and was made of black paper. They looked back up, but the badger was gone. The door stood open. Almost in a trance, Nick closed it and went into the kitchen. He and Judy sat down at the table and opened the envelope. Inside was a letter. They read it together.
Dear Nick Perbuies Wilde and Judy Laverne Wilde,
As you probably know, you are vampires. Bloodsuckers, if you will. Something you may not know is that you are not the only vampires. There is quite a large number of us, stationed in many places around the world. But most of us live in Transylvania, which yes is stereotypical, but it works best. Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are The Primums, the oldest group of vampires still around. We are contacting you to congratulate you on eliminating 2 of the world's worst vampire hunters. We would enjoy it if you would come and visit us in Transylvania. While you may be inexperienced, you are powerful vampires, and your skills could be beneficial to us. The Primum's legacy depends on it. You will find your tickets in the envelope.
Best Wishes, The Primums
Nick reached into the envelope again and pulled out two airplane tickets. He scanned them.
"These are for today!" He said. The time on the ticket said 6:00 PM. Nick looked at the clock. It was 9:00 AM right now.
"Well, I think we should go," Judy said.
"I do too, I just wish we had more time," Nick replied.
"Well, then let's get packed and tell Chief Bogo." Nick looked at the clock again. His eyes narrowed.
"I need to finish first."
"What?" Nick picked her up and materialized back in the bedroom.
And that's the end of Bloodbunny. Sorry if you wanted something more, but I'm still not 100% comfortable with it. But not to worry, as Bloodbunny 2 will be coming out tomorrow. Every story will have a least 1 scene, and they'll probably increase as I get better at writing them. Anyways thanks to TheCollecter and Lockdown for the follows and favorites. See you tomorrow!
