Hadrian is one of the bigger divergences in this fic, as anyone familiar with BSG will know. In the aftermath of the foiled terrorist attack and the deluge of public support for Cylons to act as protectors, the backdoor used by Dr Greystone was discovered and a special variant was built.
Specifically, these units were not designed to utilise the Cylon Datanet, though they kept the ability to monitor it and nearby models for similar backdoor subversion. While the integration of Cylons expanded to all walks of Caprican life, the older U-87 models were gradually retired, excepting Hadrian's model.
Unknown to humanity, they were sapient, just like their newer brethren but instead of becoming corrupted by the radical monotheistic preaching's of the Soldiers of the One, they chose to disregard those teachings and pick their own path.
Being people, some of the U-87s still sided with the rebelling Cylons once the uprising started, but Hadrian and most of his line stayed loyal, helped in part by the U-87s being trusted moreso than the newer models.
They chose the green sensor light when interacting with humans to offer an easy distinction from their red-eyed brethren.
Nike
Nike's biology, is strongly influenced by Redcoat Officer and their fantastic Sonnie's edge story, as they'd put the most in depth description of Khanivore's biology, I got permission to use that as a guidebook for what Nike is capable of. Though because BSG isn't exactly capable of the tech needed for Suspension Tanks, I'm working with her being able to stay out of the tank indefinitely. Regular showers or preferably submersion in water helps keep her skin hydrated.
In exchange for her not needing a tank to survive, her caloric intake is boosted to 20000 Kilocalories a day, protein preferred. She has about a week of operation without eating possible before her body starts canibilising her muscles for fuel, and beyond that her organs. She's not exactly blessed with abundant fat reserves for energy, given her body is built for pit-fighting and long term endurance.
As for her ability to talk, that's down to author fiat on my part, it's easier for me to write her with a voice even if it's not faithful to the material.
