If there was one thing Starflight hadn't shared with Dovekie and Blackbird, it was the full extent of his future sight.
He could see more than one possible future- he could see several of them, usually around a dozen or so. The group had been staying in the Sea Kingdom for the past two weeks, Tsunami slipping away to their room as often as she could. Starflight had spent the past few hours checking the futures that he could. He jolted upright, his eyes wide, right as Tsunami burst through the door, sending a wave of water though the door. Her scales were flashing frantically and Starflight grabbed his tablet.
'We have to go! The egg!' Tsunami swam over to Dovekie and Blackbird, grabbing their arms and pulling them forward. She flashed her scales at Starflight and pushed the other two out of the room.
Her motions were practiced, like she had snuck out of the palace hundreds of time. Her scales were dark as she watched the guards prowl around the ravine, and she darted from shadow to shadow, pulling and pushing the others behind her. There were quite a few times where she sharply whacked Starflight with her tail or a wing to stop him from moving.
It took nearly half an hour before the four had made it to the surface, Tsunami shoving them into an island that eerily resembled a dragon skull. Starflight winced as futures shattered and reformed before him.
"What about your brother?" Blackbird asked, pulling off the bag with the pearl in it. "Wasn't he supposed to change your wings or something?"
"We don't have time for that! Not anymore, at least." Tsunami used a claw to slice the cord holding Starflight's pearl to him. "IceWing, you're next." Dovekie pulled his off and set it next to Blackbird's.
"We should find the... the MudWing next." Starflight's eyes flicked towards the case the map was in. His head was spinning from how rapidly the futures were changing around him.
"Are you sure you're okay to travel?" Dovekie asked, looking worriedly at the NightWing. Tsunami huffed and got up, shoving Starflight to his talons.
"Doesn't matter." She flapped her wings, jumping up into one of the "eyes" of the rock. "The guards are gonna realize I'm gone soon, and then we'll never complete that prophecy of yours."
"Fine." Starflight hated to admit it... but Tsunami DID have a point. He could see several futures where they were caught, and- well, it was easier to not think about it. "As you wish, princess." He bowed dramatically and scrambled up next to her, before flinging himself from the cave and taking off into the sky.
The four had flown overnight, reaching the shore by the time the sun was rising behind them. Starflight flew down to the beach first, Dovekie and Blackbird following after him. Tsunami stayed, hovering above the water.
"Uh, any reason why you're all landing?"
"Hm, let's see- oh yeah, cause it's daytime?" Starflight retorted, shoving his glasses up his snout. "And maybe, just maybe, we're nocturnal, and exhausted, and plan on sleeping?"
"Oh, so you want to get killed today, do you?" Tsunami landed next to Starflight with a thud, her teeth bared. "The guards will absolutely have your tails if they realize that you snuck their princess out." Starflight growled lowly, spreading his wings and taking off into the air again, Dovekie and Blackbird following him.
The four took off again, continuing inland.
"I thought we were going to find a MudWing."
Starflight growled under his breath. Tsunami had been nagging at him for the past hour while he squinted at the map. The ground was steadily sloping upwards, the trees becoming more stunted and gnarled as they flew.
"We are, Tsunami." He rolled up the map and shoved it into the carrier. "We're just... sidetracked is all." He could hear Dovekie and Blackbird's thoughts behind them, and then Blackbird's suddenly cut off as a wave of panic came from Dovekie.
"Birdie!"
Starflight looked back as Dovekie hurriedly dove underneath Blackbird and flew down towards the ground. She had passed out, exhausted.
"Okay, that settles it, we're done for today." He circled back to the hybrids, doing his best to take some of Blackbird's weight as the three slowly descended. Tsunami sighed and flew down next to the group. Starflight helped Dovekie settle the other NightWing hybrid on the ground, Dovekie draping his tail over her once she was off of his back.
Starflight settled on the other side of Dovekie and nudged the hybrid's wing over himself and dropped his head onto his shoulder. Starflight lazily watched Tsunami stomp a short distance away before flopping down dramatically. He closed his eyes and soon fell asleep.
This was officially THE worst way to be woken up.
Starflight was awoken by talons roughly dragging him away from underneath Dovekie's wing, his eyes snapping open. His wings were forced against his sides and thin metal bands were wrapped around them. He could hear Tsunami lashing out at the guards before one of them roared something about a muzzle, and she was soon silenced.
He finally looked at the guards... SkyWings. There were eight or so SkyWings around them all, and the four had been shoved into a pile. Tsunami was still trying to lash out at the heavily-armored dragons around them as they laughed and easily shoved her back into the other three. Starflight winced and pulled away from her.
"Well well well... won't Queen Scarlet be pleased."
"Yup." One of the guards stepped closer. "Four new dragons for her arena."
Starflight's blood ran cold as he realized what had happened- this was the worst possible future he had seen.
