Chapter 7:
The Crew
"Again!" He heard from inside the room next to him.
JoJo walked into the room, seeing Rem and the other mages going through a series of actions. At the end of each blow was a small puff of either air or fire. They all moved in perfect unison as they practically danced around the floor. They finished with a clap and a bow and instantly everyone fell to the floor exhausted, as if their serious faces were just masks. Rem seemed to be the only one not tired. He noticed the taller man out of the corner of his eye and walked over.
"Gotta say, that new blue robe looks good on you!" He complimented. "How're your muscles, kid?" He asked JoJo.
"I feel like I'm still on fire."
"It wasn't my fault you hit yourself with your own fireball."
"I'm talking about my burning muscles."
"Again, not my fault."
"It kinda is."
"Well, anyways."
'He just brushed me off!'
"We're taking a break right now, and then after this we'll be going on a search and destroy mission issued by the queen."
"Why would the queen want something searched for and destroyed?"
"She says that it's to help us, more specifically you, learn how to fight in a real-life situation outside of training."
"Me? But why did she want me to come along?"
"You're now a part of our mage circle apparently." A male mage said passing by.
"Yeah." Rem confirmed. "Anything we're doing, you have to follow."
"..."
Trees burnt to the floor in seconds. Ash remained from a certain area surrounding the group. Any monsters they came upon were no match for all of them. They were currently in the middle of a lesson from Rem about power levels of monsters while he simultaneously fought a boss-level goblin on his own. You might be asking why they were fighting one in the first place, the answer is that Jonathan decided to poke a bees nest (goblin campsite) and their leader got mad.
"This monster is about a Boss Tier level monster." Rem said calmly as he dodged all the blind swings from his enemy.
"Boss Tier?" A mage asked. "What makes them different from normal monsters."
"Well, apart from the obvious power up, there's a few." He started, hitting a pressure point in the creature's arm. "A normal monster has a lot of the standards you'd expect from out of this world creatures, such as magic, flight and other new things we've yet to experience. However, a boss's level is usually two times or more higher then their lackey's. One point five when reaching higher leveled monster dens or fights." He punched the goblin across the schnoz. "They will also receive a hidden ability called a 'title'." Jonathan perked up at this part. "We all have titles of our own, it's just that we're unable to check what they are. These titles give that person a bonus or debuff based on their personality and past." He swiped at the beast's legs. "A title I know of was revealed to me by my late master, who said it was called 'Fire Magic Master'. It allowed my to completely control any flame I create within a set distance from my body. A boss monster has usually one title retaining to who they are as a fighter." He kneed the goblin in the face. "This is usually a power up whenever facing against heroes, but otherwise it could just increase their stats towards a singular magic type." He then punched a hole through it and it fell down dead. "Any questions?"
"I do!" The same mage from before said.
"What is it, Angela?" Rem asked.
"What are all the different types of monsters in this world."
"That's a very broad question." He said a little confused. "You mean when separated by level, race, type, magic usage, rarity, clan or something else?"
"I mean as in it goes from 'standard' enemy to 'boss' enemy to what else?" She asked.
"Ah, that's what you meant." He scratched the back of his head with his bloody hand with a calm expression. "There are Common enemies, Boss enemies, Minion enemies, Summoned enemies, Rare monsters and Humanoid."
"Humanoid?" Jonathan asked.
"Humanoid monsters are monsters who've got a splice of human or demi-human DNA in them, making them more smarter and powerful then the normal ones. There was a race of demi-humans one thousand years ago who've now gone extinct because they were conspiring against the whole world by fusing monsters into their very bodies. There's a cult out there somewhere continuing this method but under the species of humans." He uttered in disgust. "'Won't need to fear the waves if we become a part of the waves!' they had said." He looked off into the deep woods.
"That's..."
"There's no reason to get sappy!" Rem complained. "The royal guards have been going after them with all of their might over the last few years." Rem then walked over to give Jonathan a handshake for no reason.
'Ohhh... He's trying to put the blood and flesh he got from the goblin into my hand without rising suspicions!'

"What are some encounters you've been in?" Caragh asked.
"Hmm..." He started to think back. "There was this giant falcon-like monster that wanted to see the suffering of all mankind, but was actually really weak for being a boss."
"I'll bet what's weak to you is twice our level." Many others sweat dropped.
"Master Amos, what are we trying to kill anyways?" A mage asked.
"Hm...? You mean I didn't tell you?" He asked them.
All of the mages shook their heads.
"That would explain why everyone is acting this way..." He sighed. "We're going to beat a boss class monster out in a nearby village. It'll only be a few minutes from where we are now." He explained. "The village was ransacked by a bunch of balloons."
"Balloons?" Jonathan almost laughed. "Y'mean those little orange things who do about 1 hit point per chomp?"
"No." He said seriously. "It was a group of blue balloons, lead by a red one."
All of the mages but JoJo gasped and started to shake.
"What's so special about these balloons?" He asked.
"T-They..." A male mage stuttered. "Blue balloons are half the size of a fully grown man and can swallow children whole!" A explained.
"Oh."
"Red balloons are one of the most common place bosses in the world, but that doesn't mean they're not powerful." Rem started as they got closer to the town. "Red ones are about eleven feet tall and are lava magic users..."
"Lava magic doesn't exist though, sir!" A mage mentioned.
"Lava magic is simply something which has a equal affinity of both fire and earth to the extend that users of it can transform the earth itself to scalding temperatures." He said. "Not many people know about this magic type, actually. Just like how people lump Ice magic in with Water and Lightning being nonexistent."
'All this talk is more complicated then I thought it'd be. I wish there'd be somewhere I'd be able to study all this material I'm getting...'

Fire: The art of controlling living destruction. You can spew flames from different objects and appendages, it's very versatile.
-Users are weak to Water and Wind. Resistant to Ice, Earth, Light and Dark. Electric is nullified. Life is absorbed.
Water: Go with the flow. Water is very malleable and is able to take many forms.
-Users are weak to Ice and Lava. Resistant to Fire, Light, Curse. Electric is nullified. Life and Holy is absorbed.
Earth: The earth is yours to transform.
-Users are weak to Cosmic and Lava. Resistant to Metal, Wind, Fire, Ice and Light. Life is absorbed.
Wind: Wind is calming and controlling.
-Users are weak to Electrical and Cosmic. Resistant to Earth, Metal, Water. Fire is absorbed.
Electric: Things go fast and furious.
-Users are weak to Cosmic and Holy. Resistant to Wind. Fire is absorbed.
Ice: Take a chance to cool a situation down.
Users are weak to Fire and Lava. Resistant to Electric and Earth. Water is Nullified.
Lava: Born of the world and given fire.
-Users are weak to Cosmic and Wind. Resistant to Water and Electric. Absorbs Fire.
Cosmic: The cosmos spread before thee.
-Users are weak to Holy and Curse. Resistant to Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Life is Nullified.
Holy: Absolute divinity comes with no cost but mortality.
-Users are Resistant to Curse and Dark. Light is absorbed.
Curse: Cast a dark spell over an enemy.
-Users are weak to Holy and Life. Resistant to Dark and Light.
Light: The goodness in your heart shines bright.
-Users are weak to Curse and Shadow. Resistant to Earth and Water. Absorbs Light.
Shadow: The darkness resides behind the desires of many.

Tutorial - Friendships and Reputation
Friendships are a fundamental strategy when fighting alongside other people. When you first meet person in an intimate conversation, you can gain a friendship rank of 1. The more you spend time with that friend, or the more you appeal to them, the higher the rank goes.
Reputation is the amount of points you gain from simply seeing or meeting people. The higher the total stat of all reputation, the more perks you gain.
You can check these two menus by thinking or speaking 'Friends' or 'Rep'/'Reputation'.
