A/N: So, here's another one. I wasn't DISTRACTED this time. XDD So this will be fairly normal. :D :D
Ahsoka looked out the door. "Senator Amidala, there's so many lights out there! I've never seen that many in one place before! Can we go see? Please?"
"Ahsoka, we need to stay here. It's too cold out for you."
Padme watched as the little Togruta slouched slightly.
"Okay." she said quietly, returning to Anakin's side.
"Master Skywalker, it might be wise to let your padawan have just a little bit of time out there. She could use it, after being so cooped up. It's been a long time since she was out of those senatorial dresses and such."
"But, with all due respect, Senator, she..." he trailed off as Ahsoka gave him her best puppy eyes. "Arrgh! Fine." He sighed. "When did you learn to do that?"
Ahsoka shrugged innocently. "Come on, Master, it's so pretty!" she squealed, tugging the door open.
"No, no, Ahsoka, no. Coat." he insisted, shoving said article of clothing at her.
She offered a little pout, but complied anyway.
"Your body temperature is colder, and you need to-"
"I know, I know." she huffed. "No need to proclaim it to the galaxy."
Padme laughed behind her hand. Anakin could be so protective sometimes.
Anakin finished helping Ahsoka into the long coat Padme had lent, then gave the senator a mock bow. "Will you accompany us, milady, on our quest?"
Padme nodded, laughing. She could see Ahsoka laughing, but it didn't matter too much.
"Of course, handsome knight." she replied, going with the amusing act.
Ahsoka started laughing, but still grabbed Anakin's hand. "Come on! I wanna go see the lights!"
Anakin let his padawan drag him out of the large building, laughing as he suddenly stopped, making her slip and faceplant in the snow.
She rounded on him and frowned. "Master, that wasn't funny." she whined pathetically, moving next to Padme. "Now my face is cold."
Padme lightly put an arm around the Togruta and tried to get some of the wet, melted snow off the girl's face with her scarf, to which Ahsoka responded with a small smile and a quiet "thank you".
They walked in silence for a while. Well, barring the occasional "you cold, Snips?" and the exasperated "no" that would immediately follow.
Finally, Padme turned in a different direction. "There are some lights this way. And a trail. I think you'll like them."
Ahsoka started bouncing up and down happily, her energy level suddenly skyrocketing. "Come on, let's go, Skyguy!" she said, laughing and running ahead.
"Don't leave us in the dust, Snips." Anakin replied, then turned to Padme. "I'm gonna end up having to chase her down."
Padme laughed, looking ahead at the girl who was now staring in awe at a house covered in flashing lights and colorful displays. "She definitely could use some time like this."
Anakin sighed.
"What?" Padme asked automatically.
"She needs more time to just be a kid."
"I know." She chose her words carefully. "This war takes that opportunity away from a lot of children just like her."
"She's not just like anyone." Anakin said in a low voice. "She could have had a normal life. The Jedi made her fight this war."
"Skyguy, come see!" Ahsoka said from a ways in front of them.
"Let's give her this moment." Padme said softly, slipping her hand into his.
He nodded, then shot her a grateful look before loosening his hold on her hand and running to catch up to Ahsoka.
"See, look at this one, and ooh, look, that one wins the cake! Sooo pretty." Ahsoka said, looking up to see if he agreed with her.
"It definitely does." he said in a serious voice, then smiled.
She smiled back, ramming her shoulder into his arm as hard as she could (which was pretty much nothing). He bumped her shoulder lightly, smiling as she let out a bubbly laugh.
Padme watched the two, a smile growing on her face.
"Come on, Padme!" Ahsoka called, and Padme ran to join them, smiling when Anakin subtly took her hand.
She had the best family in the galaxy.
A/N: I... don't like the ending of this... :P Oh well. At least there should be some fluffy family-ness in there. XD See you tomorrow, Happy Life Day, and may the Force be with you all!
