Everyone had been called back home and the other two guilds that had helped returned to their guilds. Laxus, Cana, and Bickslow had returned and were just catching the first glimpses of Magnolia when Laxus froze. "Laxus?" questioned the other two worried he may be having another attack after watching several of them on the boat. It seemed to line up with Lucy and how she was feeling. Suddenly he took off at an alarming rate. He didn't know why, but Lucys' scent was faint. Running into his house he heard voices upstairs. Taking three steps at a time, he opened his bedroom door to see Mira, Freed, and Porlyusica. "I've stabilized her for now, but she needs him. I don't know much about the mating process, but they can't be separated for this long. Six months is too long. Idiot children," said Porlyusica.

She turned to see him and stalked up to him, grabbing his shirt and dragged him up to Lucy. "Idiot! You're as reckless as the old man! If you leave her for months at a time this will happen! Mating is something I can't help with if she dies it will be on you! I got lucky this time, but if you decide to leave you should bring her along!" she shouted before grabbing Freed and Mira leaving the two alone. Laxus looked at Lucy. She was weak he could sense that. So weak in fact he was scared she may never wake up. Sitting on the edge of the bed he combed through her hair. What he was sure was hours later felt like days, but he could smell her scent better. Relaxing he laid down next to her and closed his eyes. For everything she had endured he was sorry. This may have started out as a prize, but it became more than that to him over time and now he couldn't stop thinking of her.

The next morning, he woke up to see Lucy was snuggled into his chest. He loved how she had her hands pushed against his chest as her head was laying on his arm. He wanted to stay like this forever, but he knew if she were to really get better, he would need to get her food. Carefully he got out of bed and walked down the stairs. Walking into the kitchen he looked for the ingredients he needed. Finally getting started he made pancakes, bacon, and eggs. It was a simple breakfast but had just what she needed. Once he was finished, he set the plates on the table and walked back upstairs to get Lucy. When he saw her sprawled out the way she was with her shirt riding up stomach he inwardly groaned. Laxus decided he would surprise her in the best way possible. Careful not to disturb her he crawled so he was hovering over her and looked at her peaceful face. Caressing her face, he traced her lips and grinned as she opened them. He leaned forward and kissed her. He wasn't expecting her to moan causing him to respond. Laxus knew this didn't look good for him and broke apart for air. Breathing heavily, he moved hair away from her neck and leaned down. Breathing in her scent he felt her wrap her arms around his neck and looked to see her brown eyes looking at him.

"Laxus…," smiled Lucy. Tears welled up in her eyes, but he knew they were happy. She kissed him, and he held her tightly. Lucy had a far more serious side effect of being his mate than he did. He knew that he was struggling like she had from what Cana had told him, but he had been able to control it better. When they broke apart, he helped her off the bed and went downstairs for breakfast. As they ate Laxus told her about how he had been training on Tenrou island when Cana and Bickslow found him. Lucy then told him about the Oracion Seis and Nirvana. Leaving out the details about Kaori she ate quickly. When they finished up, she smiled before heading into the bathroom. She was feeling energized when Loke came through his gate as she was standing in nothing, but her bra and underwear. "Loke! What the hell!" He looked at her and grinned as he pulled her into a hug. "Sorry Lucy, but with how bad you were I didn't want to come out. Even Kaori told me it was their turn to watch over you until you were well again. It was agonizing, and the others were just as worried," he said. She hugged him and stood there for a while until they heard growling. Opening her eyes, she saw Laxus standing there as Loke smirked. "Well it looks like I've irritated the dragon." She looked to see he wasn't wrong. Laxus' eyes were slits and he was growling at Loke. Laughing he disappeared and Lucy realized how exposed she really was.

Turning red she tried to cover herself, but Laxus had her pushed up against the wall before she could blink. She never really felt scared when she was with him, but the dragon side of him scared her a bit. He made for her neck and instead of the feeling of him making a hickey she felt his fangs graze her where her collarbone and neck connected. Tensing in both fear and curiosity she waited to see what would happen. He growled as if trying to get her to answer him. "Laxus…" This brought him out of whatever his dragon was doing. Looking into her eyes he saw her looking at him before he released her. "I'm sorry," he said turning away to leave her alone. Smiling she finished undressing before stepping into the shower. She was just glad he was back.

When she was finished, she put on her tan skirt and green cami. After making sure everything was in place, she exited the bathroom to find the house was empty. Fear gripped her as she didn't want him to leave again. Running out the door she looked everywhere for him. Deciding to stop by the guild before continuing she saw a sight to behold. There outside was the thunder legion standing with Laxus and Natsu was talking to Laxus while Makarov and others laughed. Natsu saw her and waved. Walking forward she smiled as everyone made sure she was fine. "Really guys I'm fine, but I want to thank you. Without your quick thinking I may not be here right now." She smiled as everyone shouted back at her. Levy and Cana wrapped her in a hug and dragged her off. "Guys what was that for?" she asked and regretted it instantly. Between Cana and Levy they had the most terrifying smiles. "Well you see Lulu…" began Levy. "We want to know everything," said Cana flatly. Lucy stared at her guildmates before laughing and promising them details later.

Grinning they nodded, and she went to see Mirajane. "Lucy, how are you?" Lucy smiled and grinned. "I'm doing great, but I wanted to personally thank you and Freed for watching over me during the last week. I know I tried to push you both away, but I'm honestly glad you were there for me." "Of course." Lucy waved goodbye to her and was looking at job board when she felt and arm drape over her shoulders. "How about we go on a quest together." She looked up to see Laxus and dropped her jaw. "But Laxus you aren't part of…" He laughed and looked at her. "True, but you are. There aren't any rules against taking an outsider along." Nodding they were at the board looking together when Lucy felt herself get knocked into Laxus who grabbed her shoulders to steady her. "Sister Lucy!" Smiling Lucy patted Rose on the head. "Rose I'm alright I promise," said Lucy. "Are you sure mama said that you were having problems because of big brother being gone."

Laxus watched the interaction. He hadn't seen this girl before, but she seemed to be attached to Lucy. The most concerning part of it all was the electric magic surrounding the girl as the worry was evident all over her. "Rose, please let Lucy have some air." Said a voice from behind Laxus. "Yes mama." She let go and ran off towards Makarov smiling as he lifted her on top of his shoulders. "Lucy who was that," he asked. "Maybe I should explain that Laxus." He turned to look at who was talking and tensed immediately. "Laxus…" began Kaori. "Kaori! What are you doing here?" he asked harshly. She winced at his tone and sighed. "I deserve your tone, but at least hear me out. When I left you, it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I left behind my son who I adored, but because of your father and what he was planning I had to leave to protect you and the Guild. He would track me down once I gave the information to your grandfather. I know no amount of apologizing will ever make up for it, but I hope you can find it in your heart to for…" Kaori was suddenly pulled into a hug and she felt her son crying. Carefully she wrapped her arms around him. "Welcome home mom," he said. Closing her eyes, she smiled. It was as if all those years apart melted away as they held each other. The tears she had held in telling herself to stay strong for Laxus came pouring out.

When they broke apart, she smiled as she wiped away the tears in his eyes. "I promise I will never leave again. I will explain everything one day, but can you accept that I will be here," she said. "Yea I can. Before I would have demanded answers to accept you, but a certain blondie here decided to get involved in my life," he grinned. "Hey!" He laughed at Lucy who was pouting and wrapped an arm around her. "So, this girl with the lightening sparks who is she?" "Well that plays a bit into when I ran away. That is your sister Yumi-Rose, but everyone calls her Yumi or Rose," said Kaori. Laxus looked at the little girl closer than before. Besides her brown hair she had the traditional grey eyes that was a signature color in his family.

Kaori looked at him waiting. He just looked between Kaori, Lucy, and Rose who was interacting with Makarov. "I…Uh…We have to go!" he shouted before grabbing Lucy and a job before looking at it and throwing it at Mira to let them know they were taking the quest. "Laxus stop!" Lucy finally shouted as they arrived at the train. "You need to talk about this. She is your sister," said Lucy. He spun to face her, and she saw his confusion in the eyes along with a little hurt. Sighing she understood. "Fine but promise me we will talk about this eventually. If not to me to your grandfather or mom okay?" she said. He nodded as they stepped onto the train.
