You might be wondering why I uploaded twice today. This additional ficlet is to make up for the shortness of the other one. My apologies.
Private Messaging (with Robin)
Chrom: Robin?
Robin: Yes?
Robin: What is it?
Chrom: How am I alive?
Robin: Ah
Robin: I'm afraid to say, I have no clue.
Chrom: …
Robin has gone offline
Chrom was confused. And not in a good way.
Well technically, there was no "good way of getting confused", but normally Robin would be there to help him sort it out.
In this case though, all he had was Lucina. And she was confused too.
"I just don't get it Luci. How do I exist if Lord Marth is not with Lady Caeda?"
"Aren't they married or something?"
"But in this realm, Marth is showing interest in another man!"
"Maybe he's an einherjar?"
"I simply do not understand. Am I a living time-space paradox?"
"Well, I broke literal time to prevent a doomed future from happening, so it really isn't that strange when you think about it. But then again, maybe we are paradoxes, whatever those are."
Just then, Lucina looked up to check the time. "Ah, looks like I must fight the Villager now. I'll see you later!" she called as she rushed down the hall, not wanting to be late for her match.
Sighing and alone, Chrom turned and rubbed his temples.
"What are you doing here? You've been in your room for the past 7 hours, Chrom."
Looking up, the Prince of Ylisse saw Roy staring at him, concern written all over his face.
"Oh, nothing much."
"Don't tell me you're dwelling on that again," he stated, arms crossed.
"What do you mean?"
The Young Lion rolled his eyes. "When I came here 7 HOURS AGO, you were moping on your existence. I come back 7 hours later and you're still here. Obviously something's up."
"You… noticed?"
"Well yeah. You're supposedly my 'echo fighter'. Since Marth was quick in understanding his, I figured why not try to get to know you. After all, I can't let the other Melee veteran get all the praise!" he said with a grin plastered to his face.
"Ah..."
"I'm assuming you're still trying to understand?"
"Well… yes."
"Just take it this way. Marth exists. Ike exists. Lucina exists, you exist. You shouldn't care about how you exist because YOU DO EXIST."
"..."
"Understood?"
"Uh…"
"Chrom?"
"...I think so?"
Roy sighed. "Look Chrom. I know how confusing pondering existences are. That's why I focus on having fun rather than thinking about things like these."
Chrom nodded. "So that's why you enjoy getting sugar high with Pit all the time."
"Not all the time!"
"95% of the time then."
"More like 75%. I can be sane when I want to! Honest!"
"Yeah right," Chrom replied jokingly.
"See? All you gotta do is make the most out of your life. And speaking of your life well, Cloud's going to smite you if you don't show up at your match with him. Which is, in approximately 2 minutes and 36 seconds."
"WHAT?"
"Yeah buddy, I suggest you run."
With that, Chrom dashed down the hallway to the battlefield, earning strange glances from other smashers, especially Marth, who had easily found out the reason behind his lateness.
