Chapter 7: Reasons
Jazz blinked as she listened to Clockwork. "Kitty and Dani dated?" She cried out, her hand still holding Dani's.
"In a way, yes." Clockwork said, turning into his prime. "In an attempt to make Johnny jealous, Kitty came to the human world and took over one girls body, and used blackmail to get Danielle to date her. Not wanting to feel like a freak though Danielle talked her into keeping it private." The old ghost said, taking a sip of tea he had made appear. "Once Danielle found out it was Kitty, and learned the truth about it though, she became more relaxed and started enjoying herself, knowing Kitty wanted to actually date her. She became a little too clingy for her though so she and Johnny made a plan so Kitty would want to go back to him."
Jazz continued to blink listening to the master of time, unsure how to think about what the ghost said.
"But enough of that. Shall we continue our story?" Clockworked asked, turning back into his old form. Seeing Jazz nod he continued. "Kitty took Danielle to her realm, but she continued to remain silent." He said, leaning back in his chair, as if he was a grandparent spinning a tale.
"It took Kitty two weeks to even get Danielle to speak..."
===Clockwork's Tale Continues===
"Dani?" Kitty called out, looking over the back of her couch to see the halfa, open her eyes and look at her, still in her ghost form.
Dani's hair was a mass of tangles and split ends. Even her outfit seems to lose some color, as did her glowing green eyes.
"How are you feeling? I know you're trying to cope with something, but unless you talk I can't help." Kitty said, looking down at the half ghost, expecting the same response as every day in the last two weeks. Some hand signal or movement of the head.
"Sorry Kitten..." Dani said softly, looking away from the green haired ghost.
Kitty blinked hearing Dani call her by her pet name that Johnny had used, and even Dani had called her when they had dated.
"It's... been hard." Dani said, turning on the couch to face even more away from Kitty. "Everything I once knew... Is gone."
The green haired ghost walked around the couch and sat down on the table in front of it so she could see Dani's face. "What do you mean Dani? I've never seen you like this, and I've been worried about you."
Dani looked up at the one woman whom she had dated in her short life. "Dash, Paulina... my family... they..." She starts to say, trying to explain before breaking down, pulling her knees to her chest and beginning to cry as the memories returned.
Kitty's eyes widen hearing the words the halfa said, before putting two and two together. When they had dated, Dani had confessed that her family and best friends were her whole world, and that first day the girl had looked like her entire world was gone.
The green haired girl quickly moved over to the couch and wrapped her arms around the halfa pulling her tightly to her.
"Oh Dani... I'm so sorry... I'm so... so... sorry..." Kitty said softly, holding onto the girl tightly.
Dani stayed in the same spot, holding her legs to her chest, though she leaned into Kitty.
Kitty just held onto the halfa, rubbing her back soothingly, cooing into the teens ear.
Kitty sat there holding Dani close for several hours, the teen crying into the green haired ghost. Over the last several minutes Dani's crying has slowed and softened, the ghost girl keeping hold of her slowly calming her.
Dani let her legs go and pulled away, looking at Kitty with red eyes because of her crying but a smile on her face. "Thanks Kitten... I... I'm feeling a little better now. I think I just needed that."
"What did you need?" Kitty asked, wondering what exactly the teen needed.
"A good cry... a way for me to release everything that I've been feeling." Dani said softly. "And... maybe someone to hold me." She said slowly blushing as she admitted it.
Kitty smiled, leaning forward and wrapping her arms around Dani and pulled her close. "I'll always be willing to hold you, should you ever wish it." She said sweetly, holding the halfa close.
The white haired teen leaned into the ghost and wrapped her arms around her. "Thank you..." She said softly shifting to push herself closer to her ex.
After a while Dani pulled away from Kitty with a smile, and shifted around so she was sitting normally on the couch. "How have you and Johnny been?" She asked, trying to get away from her memories.
Kitty rolled her eyes, crossing her arms with a huff. "Not." She said with a growl. "Not three days after you two tricked me, he goes off skirt chasing some bimbo."
Dani shrunk slightly as the ghost reminded her of how she and Johnny 'fought' for Kitty. "I... I'm sorry about that Kitty. I didn't want to hurt you, but..." She said looking down at the floor.
"Can you answer me one thing?" The green haired ghost asked, turning to look at Dani. Seeing the halfa nod she continued. "Why? Why did you make that deal with Johnny? I thought you were having fun with me..." she said sadly.
"Cause I knew you were just using me because of Johnny." Dani answered, not looking at the ghost.
Kitty looked ashamed for a moment before nodding. "Yes... I was... at first." She said, her words causing Dani to look up at her. "But over time... I forgot about Johnny. Up until you and him fought, he hadn't crossed my mind in a long time. I... really liked having you as my girlfriend, even if I had to possess a human to do so." She said before looking up at Dani. "When... when I heard Johnny yell something about a deal it hurt... more than I thought it would. Dani, why did you go to Johnny for a deal? I thought you enjoyed our time together... Was I a bad girlfriend? Or was it something else?"
Dani turned away from Kitty hanging her head. "One reason was that I truly thought it was still to get Johnny back, but the biggest reason..." She stopped talking for a moment to think. "Was... cause it felt like we were on leashes. To get any alone time I had to sneak away..." Dani admitted softly.
"To clingy?" Kitty asked bluntly before seeing Dani nod. "Johnny said that too when we first started, but why didn't you tell me?"
"Like I said... I still thought it was about Johnny." Dani said with a light blush.
"It wasn't." Kitty said with a sweet smile, reaching up and turning Dani's head to face her. "After those first few weeks, it became all about you." She said softly, looking into the halfa's glowing green eyes.
Dani looked into Kitty's red eyes and before averting her eyes. "Then why after over three weeks of dating, all of which I knew it was you, I only ever got a kiss on the cheek..." She asked softly.
The ghost blinked at the halfas words before smirking. "Is that why you thought I was still using you for Johnny? Because I didn't really kiss you?"
Dani slowly nodded her head. "I thought... that if it was real... what we were doing you would have really kissed me. I could have taken you being clingy, I... actually liked it sometimes but..."
"But when you never got a real kiss it was all moot." Kitty said sweetly.
Kitty watched as Dani nodded and slowly turned her head.
"Let me make it up to you." Kitty said softly, turning Dani's head back towards her before leaning forward. She pressed her lips to the halfa's, wrapping her arms around the teens shoulders to pull her closer.
Dani's eyes widened in shock, feeling the ghosts lips on her. The teen just sat in shock till Kitty pulled back, the halfa noticing she was opening her eyes.
Kitty giggled at the halfa's shocked look. "What's wrong Dani? I thought you wanted me to kiss you?" She purred at the teen.
Dani just opened and closed her mouth unable to form words. Before she was able to speak Kitty put a finger over her lips.
"You don't need to say anything Dani, I know what you're gonna ask. 'Why?' right?" Kitty asked and smiled seeing the white haired girl nod. "It's because I still care for you. After Johnny ran off again chasing another skirt, I couldn't take being with him anymore." She said softly, before looking down. "I did try some others, but I could only ever think about you. The weeks we dated you spoiled me, by being the best girlfriend I could ever have. I stopped dating after that, and was scared to come see you thinking you didn't like me since you went to Johnny."
Dani looked down at the couch in thought.
"Listen Dani, I know I can never replace your family or friends, but I'd like to be here for you. Maybe... just maybe we can make a life together?" Kitty said softly, lifting Dani's head so she could look into her eyes.
"I... I don't know kitten." Dani said softly.
Kitty smiled before pecking Dani softly on the lips. "If you didn't still have feelings, even the smallest, for me you wouldn't be calling me by my pet name. I know you kinda stole it from Johnny, but hearing it from you is so much sweeter."
Dani blinked as she looked into Kitty's eyes. "I... I do still care for you Kitty, but..."
The ghost pressed her finger to the halfa's again to silence her. "I know what you're going to say Dani. 'Just look at me... I'm broken.' Right?" Kitty giggles seeing Dani's shocked look. "I know you Dani, because of the time we spent together. I know you dream of being an astronaut, and being a great hero with your powers. I know your family meant the world to you, even if you were closer to your sister than your parents." The woman says softly. "You're hurting right now, I understand but you'll make it through it. I know you will, because you are strong, and I wanna be with you to help you."
Dani smiled warmly at Kitty before leaning forward and kissing her, wrapping her arms around the ghost's neck, trying to copy the ghost's earlier kiss.
Kitty let out a small squeak feeling the halfa kiss her before calming down and wrapping her arms around the white haired teen's back and closing her eyes deepening the kiss.
===Dani's Room===
"Clockwork?" Jazz called out, her hand still holding the time froze Dani's. "Why are you telling me all this?"
"Because the story I'm telling you leads to Dark Danielles rise, and knowing how she came to be, will help you understand what is happening now." Clockwork said sadly as he looked over at Dani. Through the story so far he hasn't once changed out of his old form.
"I don't understand..." Jazz said, looking confused at the age old ghost.
"I did something that should not have been possible." Clockwork said as he floated out of his chair and turned into his childlike state. "You see there are masters in the ghost zone, I am one of them, but above them lies one other." He says turning to look out the window, changing into his prime. "Lady Fortuna, the Ghost of Destiny and Fate." He said seriously. "She knows the destiny of all including myself, but when I altered time I blinded myself from anything including young Danielle, but more so... blinded Lady Fortuna. I am lucky to still be here." He said with a shiver.
"But what you did..." Jazz began to say before the master of time stopped her.
"What I did was set the world up for someone even stronger than Dark Danielle." He said, making Jazz gasp. "And that someone is young Danielle herself." He continued turning away from Jazz.
