Chapter six
"I'm home…" Ga Eul let herself in while shivering from the cold wind that blew outside. A storm had started and she barely got back home before it. She kept her shoes on the rack and hung her coat.
Their house was small with a traditional interior; wooden floor, sliding doors and all the rooms connected to a dinning area which only had a table under the yellow light. The whole house consist of three bedrooms a kitchen and a small back garden which was facing the entrance to the house. It was a small house which Ga Eul adored since a very young age .
Ga Eul's father was seated at the table reading a newspaper while her mother was probably in the kitchen preparing dinner. Ga Eul went to her room to keep her belongings, had a wash and changed her cloths before heading to the kitchen to help her mother.
"Dadl, why don't you come and sit here for a moment?.." Ga Eul paused for her father's request and did as she was asked.
"Appa… is there.. something wrong?" she asked with concern as her mother joined them as well.
"Anniyo.. there's nothing 'wrong' …. I guess…." He folded the news paper and kept it aside.
"Ga Eul… is there something you have got to tell us?...I mean… about someone?" Ga Eul looked down and smiled back when she looked up at her parents.
"Ye….. I was going to tell you… but….it's just that…..I wasn't sure about it before…"
" so…. Is there really some one special?" it was Ga Eul's mother and Ga Eul nodded in response with her lips tighting to a smile.
"Who is he?"
"His name… is Yi Jeong….and …..we came to know through Jandi" Ga Eul said shyly. Her parents shared a smile.
"So…is it through Geum Jandi that you two met?" her father asked still with the smile.
"Ye… he is one of the closest friends of Jandi's fiancé…"
"how long have you two been known each other?" Ga Eul's mother was a lot curious.
"It has been a while since we've known each other… about five years…."
"Oh!" she let out a gasp," so is it now that you are telling us?" she raised her voice a bit.
"anniyo…. We were just friends back then… and we helped Jandiya and Junpyo sunbae…" Ga Eul's voice lowered," there actually wasn't something to tell then…"
"Dadl….you are… really happy to be with him aren't you?" her father was sincere.
"ye…appa" Ga Eul nodded.
"Arasso…" he let out a sigh." Then that's all we want…" and smiled back at Ga Eul before heading to the bedroom.
Ga Eul was left curious with these sudden questions, so she went to her grandma's room when her parents were asleep. Her grandma was applying an ointment for her aching knees when Ga Eul entered with a plastered grin.
"Huramoni.." she had a happy tone." Shall I apply it on you?"
"Anniyo." The old woman looked at her with suspicion for a moment." What you want to know from me, isn't going to come out from my mouth…" she said with a grumpy tone.
"Who said that..I …am here to know something from you?" Ga Eul pouted.
"well, it's a miracle then… appa's little princess wants to apply ointment on my old legs !" she let out a smirk.
"Huramoni…." Ga Eul snatched the tub of ointment from her and applied it on her knees. She massaged her grandma's legs while the old woman kept staring at her with a smile.
" I hate it!... When you all consider me as a spoiled child…"
"Ah…it's not a surprise… that you are being spoiled….after all being an only child…" huramoni let out a sigh.
"Huramoni… did something happened today while I was away?" Ga Eul asked with a low voice.
"Ah!.. thought you were going to ask that!" her huramoni raised her voice. " you'd better go and ask it from your appa.."
"Huramoni…" Ga Eul pleaded.
"Ha….. it's just that…..a man came here today…"
"a man?"
"ye….he told that he had come for an order by …" she let out a sigh." Do you think my old brain could remember all those names like you youngsters?" she complained.
" is it a So Yoon Hee?" Ga Eul asked.
"maybe! Ah… I don't remember!" the older woman waved her hand in annoyance.
" Huramoni, what happened?" Ga Eul asked. There were hints of worry in her tone.
"A man… just appeared and told us all these nonsense like…. You are going after a chaebol and gold digging.. ah… you are not getting any thing else.."
"Huramoni….." Ga Eul pleaded. Huramoni let out a sigh before continuing." And he offered …..money for asking you to_"
"_ breakup" Ga Eul whispered.
"Agh!" the older woman snapped Ga Eul back to reality. "You know your appa?... He threw that money at his face ! and asked him to get out from this house!" she hit the floor to emphasize the act.
" He did ?"
" ye.. of course.." and she let out a smirk. " though long before your omma held the door open for him to leave.. oh! My.. how she slammed it at his face?" she let out a laugh.
" Did omma really slammed the door at his face?" Ga Eul couldn't hold her laughter.
" Ye… of course… they'll do anything for your happiness…."
Ga Eul recalled those events from the day before while she entered the studio. She found an Yi Jeong highly concerned with some moulding. He was leveling the perimeter of a vase but when he heard her footsteps he spared a moment to look up, smile and gesture at the bench in front of him. Ga Eul remained silent till Yi Jeong was finished and it is when he straightened up that she awaked her voice.
"Sunbae… about us…" Yi Jeong's expression turned to be worried when he looked at a Ga Eul who was gazing at the ground." Do you think … that your hurabeujji would approve us?"
Yi Jeong let out a smirk before answering," I don't care if he would not.."
" boh?"
"Ga Eulyang, aren't you the person who told me not to be a coward?" he continued," besides when I did care about his acts back at the dinner, Ga Eulyang wasn't happy with that was you?"
" but..sunbae…"
" hurabeujji… is not like Madam Kang….." his expression became serious.
" What does that suppose to mean?"
"Hurabeujji… never go against the law…"
" boh?"
" that means Ga Eulyang's family is safe " he let out a smirk before playfully pecking her nose with a muddy hand.
"Sunbae….."
"we' ll convince him.." his smile was assuring. A silence followed and after a while he awaked his voice, "so… has Ga Eulyang planned where you want to go?" he stood up and asked while wiping out the clay on his hands.
"hmm… ye " Ga Eul nodded, her expression turning from serious to mischievous.
Their car stopped in front of a burger shop and Yi Jeong did not realize for what kind of a trap that she was leading him before he saw a Junpyo and Jandi waiting for them.
"boh?.. is it going to be a double date? " Yi Jeong looked at Ga Eul, confused,
Who in response" hmm.." nodded with a smile.
" With them?" he pointed at the couple who were too busy bickering with each other to notice them. "ah… of all the people….." Yi Jeong muttered to himself and rolled his eyes before turning back to get in to the car." come. ..Let's go somewhere else…before they notice us…"
" Anniyo…" Ga Eul jumped out and caught his arm. " sunbae… shouldn't have asked for a date with me if sunbae's going to run away like this…..come on… let's go!"
" boh?" Yi Jeong glared at her for mimicking his own words but Ga Eul grinned in response and dragged him to the other couple.
" Mian….if you two had waited long for us…..." Ga Eul said with an excited tone and bowed. Jandi greeted them while Junpyo stared at them.
"Oh! Yi Jeong ah…. You are really serious about Ga Eul?" Junpyo asked with an awe expression.
This dork .. Yi Jeong thought to himself and with a plastered grin he questioned him back, "I thought it's Jandi you are dating.. why so concerned about Ga Eul?"
"its because if sunbae would dump Ga Eul I am breaking this engagement!" Jandi uttered amongst a smile sweetly but firmly.
" boh?" the two boys were equally surprised.
" I do have nothing to do with them… why you would punish me?" Junpyo raised his voice with the complain.
"How am I gonna trust a man with my future who have got no control over his friends?" Jandi glared at him.
Yi Jeong let out a smirk, " Geum Jandi, you are really expecting him to control me? As if he at least had control over his girlfriend.."
"what did you say?" Junpyo blinked his eyes while registering what he had really said.
Oh! How am really ended up bickering with this dork after all of my life I have successfully dodged every opportunity…. Yi Jeong rolled his eyes.
Ga Eul who was enjoying the drama sensed his exceeding limits so she thought it would be enough and awaked her voice.
" Yi Jeong sunbae and I thought of going on a commoner's date…."
" commoner'sdate?" Junpyo blinked his eyes for another moment, before his lips twisted in to a smile. And his forefinger was waving in the air while he said," ah…. Then, you must go through the same events as I did.."
"What events?" Yi Jeong raised his eyebrow genuinely surprised.
Yi Jeong was lead to a greasy looking restaurant for which he glared at its every with utmost disgust, before a dish was kept right in the middle of the table.
" What's this " he eyes at the food served in that dish still with his disgust.
"Intestines" Junpyo answered.
" Boh?"
" Intestines of cows and pigs." He answered firmly while leaning his back on the table behind him. Yi Jeong was almost going to choke.
" It's really chewy and spicy.. sunbae , why don't you try it?" Ga Eul took a piece from her chopsticks and held it closer to his mouth.
" boh?" Yi Jeong scoffed and looked aside.
" Yi Jeong ah… isn't it rude to reject your girlfriend's offer?" it was Junpyo who again lowered his voice, " after all…. I've eaten a whole dish of those because of Jandiya…" he looked aside while the girls glared at him for his lie. Yi Jeong barely opened his mouth and slightly chewed the piece before swallowing it up in whole.
"oh! How did you swallow it that fast.?"
"boh?" Yi Jeong asked still trying not to throw out what ever he had for breakfast.
" Junpyo … almost took about a minute to make his mind to swallow one of these." Ga Eul said while having a piece for herself.
"Ye… and it's only one piece that he ate…." Jandi joined with Ga Eul.
Then after it was the toy picking game. Much for Junpyo's dismay he was still not good at it . He could not get a single toy out of it whereas Yi Jeong managed to get one in his first try. Well it was just one he got out after all, unlike Su Pyo he wasn't used to doing those things yet he had more patience than Junpyo as for being a potter.
At last it was again the skating rink which all the four of them enjoyed.
" ah….. Ga Eulyang hasn't got any traps in this as well. Have you?" Yi Jeong asked with a smirk.
"Anniyo…." Ga Eul smiled in return. "But didn't sunbae.. enjoyed it?"
" ye.." Yi Jeong let out a sigh." Enough to make me never even think about a commoner's date again…" he let out another smirk.
"Anniyo.. it would be better next time…."
" So…. This was planned after all?" he raised an eyebrow.
Ga Eul smiled," sunbae you did have a debt to settle…"
" Oh! So this was. About that?" Yi Jeong playfully lifted up his hand so Ga Eul would go off balance for a moment before he again held her safe.
" Sunbae….." Ga Eul let out a squeak.
" so… are we even now?" Yi Jeong asked with another smirk for which Ga Eul nodded with a smile.
" Then I'll be the one to decide the next date.." he placed a featherlight kiss on her lips.
" Don't worry….. you'll love it this time…"
A/N:
This story will be mostly Ga Eul and Yi Jeong centered but I thought of pairing Woo Bin and Jae Kyung as well. About Jihoo, I haven't watched playful kiss so I don't know about Oh Hani.. but I am hoping to pair him with some sort of a girl…. Do you have any suggestions about what kind of a girl it would be…
