In This musical fairytale style fic, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are survivors, and were chased away from home, as they were wanted for being thieves. They encounter a new village, and Sonic meets a Princess, who he falls head over heels for. Unfortunately for him, she was already engaged to a Prince. Though there's more than meets the eye. Rated T for mild violence.

15. It's Now or Never!

Chapter Fourteen: It's Now or Never!

Back in the hut, Sonic told the whole story about what happened between him and Scourge last night. The four were very shocked about this. Sonic spent the whole night telling the story.

"So you tell Amy the news, and she believed you to an extent? He and his men beat you nearly to death, and tells you to just leave this town?" Shadow thought.

"If you ask me, his smart move would have been to kill you. Not that I want that to happen, because you're my best friend, but rather unusual how he keeps his enemy alive." Knuckles added.

"Scourge is no joke now, guys. He really means serious business. If he doesn't get stopped now, he will harm, or maybe even kill many innocent people." Tails stated.

"I don't know if I can, guys. I thought I was strong enough, but Scourge was too strong. I don't know if I have what it takes to stop him." Sonic sobbed.

Rouge knelt down in front of him, and she placed a hand on his. Sonic could only look up and face her.

"Sonic, strength physically isn't all that it takes to be strong. Your love for Amy should be enough to do this. You love Amy, don't you?" Rouge asked him.

"I never wanted to leave her. Ever since we moved here, and I dream of her, I never wanted to wake up." Sonic answered.

"And who's to say that dream can't become a reality? Think of it as a taboo if you will, but unless you try, and fight for her, you'll never know. If you give up now, and allow that scumbag Scourge to marry her, you will spend the rest of your life regretting not making this decision sooner." Rouge told him, with confidence.

"She's right, Sonic. You were always the strongest of us three. You looked out for us, when nobody else would." Knuckles told him, with a smile.

"You were the brother we never had." Tails added.

"And if I hadn't believed you were strong, along with Tails and Knuckles, I would never have hired you, offered you three to live with me, and teach you how to fight. You were outnumbered last night, that doesn't prove you were weak. Now we are all together, we will fight with you, even if it means risking my life, because not only do you want your love, but I at least want to see my little sister again." Shadow explained.

Sonic thought long and hard about what Shadow was saying. He sighs nervously, he wipes the sad tears from his eyes, and slowly stands up. The four look at him, and Sonic gave a sharp look at Shadow.

"When do we leave?" Sonic asked in determination.

Everyone laughs with enthusiasm.

"That's what I like to hear!" Shadow stated.

"That's our Sonic!" Tails added.

"Yes!" Knuckles cheered.

"We have a war to fight!" Rouge added.

"No Rouge, you can't do this! If anything should happen to you..." Shadow was cut off.

"I'll be fine, Shadow. I have it all under control. Now shut up..." Rouge cuts herself off, as she forced a loving kiss on Shadow. This caught Shadow off guard, but he gave into it. It lasted five seconds, and then she breaks the kiss.

"...and get ready for this fight! We'll continue this later." Rouge teased, as she winked at him.

She left to get her weapons from the weapon room. The Sonic, Tails and Knuckles chuckles, teasing Shadow.

"Shut up! That's not important right now! Right, let's get ready!" Shadow told them.

They all agreed. Then they all made their way to the weapon room to grab their weapons. As soon as they grabbed their weapons, they all have a practise sword fight with one another.

How did the first time recur

When memories linger on and on

Then corrupt from within

Shadow and Rouge look at one another for a short second, and then continued their practise sword fight.

(Shadow and Rouge singing)

They all stopped practising, and all looked at one another.

"I think we've practised enough." Knuckles stated.

"Knuckles is right. We can't waste any more time here." Tails added.

"Quite right. The longer we all stay here and practise, the wedding will be finished, and there will be nothing and nobody we will save." Rouge explained.

"Well, I am not gonna waste any more time, and have my sister marry that murderous scum! Sonic, we are ready when you are!" Shadow told him.

Sonic looks, and gives a serious smile.

"I'm more serious than you think. LET'S GO!" Sonic called.

He opens the door, and they all ran towards the palace where the wedding was taking place. At this rate, they didn't care if the door was left opened. The only thing they cared about was saving Amy, and this village from Scourge's plan.

They all made it to the front entrance of the palace, the only thing is what do they plan to do next?
