Chapter 6: The test
Sunday morning began in the same way that Saturday did. With me on my knees, sweating and shaking. I heard Sophie run into the bathroom just after me. She banged into the stall after me and pulled my hair back. Sophie rubbed my back as i continued to gag into the toilet.
When i finally stopped being sick, I stayed in the stall catching my breath. When i felt better I stood up and let Sophie leed me to the sinks. "What do you think is causing this" I asked Sophie, my mouth full of toothpaste. She looked thoughtful for a moment before asking "Rose I don't want to worry you, but when was your last period?". "In the summer" I replied realisation still not hitting me. "And when you and Scorpius did it. Did you use protection?" Sophie asked panic beginning to mount in her voice. I shook my head, my face drained as I realised what she was getting at. "Ok, don't panic. Its a Hogsmeade day today. I'll come with you to the apothecary and we'll get a test". "Ok" I whispered. In my head crazy thoughts were running through my mind.
Sophie lead me back to my bed then went for a shower, leaving me to ponder the terrifying idea that I could be pregnant.

After breakfast Soph and I gave Al and Scorpius some excuse as to way we weren't going to Hogsmeade with them. We left the grounds and Sophie linked her arm in mine. "You know if the circumstances were better, it would be fun for it to just be the two us" Sophie said. "Yeh I know" I responded quietly. "Hey" Sophie said to me, making sure her eyes caught mine, "we don't know yet, so don't panic." I nodded but I was becoming more and more sure that I was pregnant.
We reached the village within the hour and headed over to the apothecary to find a test. In the apothecary the rush of warm air was quite comforting. For a while I just wandered around the shop, distracting myself with other things. When I found the right isle, I took a deep breath and looked around. There was no one around to see me so I walked down the isle where I found the pregnancy tests.
I panicked then. There were so many different types. "Sophie!" I whispered trying to keep my voice down, "which one do I get?" She turned around from where she was standing keeping lookout. "I don't know! Just get a few different ones and lets get out of here" I too her advice, not needing to be told twice and grabbed six different ones. They were all different prices and brands.
I throw the hood of my jacket over my head and walled to wards the counter. The middle- age woman at the till looked up, smiling pleasantly "good morning" she said, luckily not realising who she was talking to. She waved her wand to get the price "thats 15 galleons please dear". I pulled my purse of of my bag, counted the money and banged it on the counter. The lady handed me the receipt and I grabbed the tests of practically threw them in my shoulder bag. We hurried out of the shop and down the street to the Three Broomsticks .

In the Three Broomsticks we ordered butter beer. Sophie kept trying to start a conversation but i just nodded. My mind on the task that was soon to be happening. "Lets just do it now!" I blurted out
suddenly. Sophie looked surprised at my outburst but her face softened as she saw the distressed look I know but be on my face
We got up and went to the bathroom. Luckily it was empty. We locked the door behind us and put a chai under the handle just in case. Sophie stood by the sinks while I sat on the wooden chair by the mirror and to the tests out of my bag. I read the instructions on the tests. They were all the same.
1-Uncap the test
2-Pee on the end of it
3-Replace the cap
4-Wait 5 minutes for the results
I went into a cubical, taking the tests with me and did what the instructions told me to do. I then walked out of a cubical and put all six tests in a row on the counter. I looked at the clock. It read 11:34.
The next 5 minutes passed extremely slowly. I paced up and down the sinks for what felt like an eternity. "Ro, its time" Sophie's quiet voice said. I walked back over to the sinks.
One at a time I flipped over each of the tests. Each one said the same thing.
Positive
I dropped the tests on the counter and slid down the wall. Sobbing into my arms. Sophie came over and put her arms protectively around me whispering "its ok" in my ear over and over again.
It took a long time to compose myself. When I eventually calmed down, I got up and got my bag off the chair in the corner. I dug around in my bag until i found my make up, then began fixing it up. "What am I going to do now?" I asked Sophie shakily. "Well first you have tell Scorpius. He needs to know, he can help you get through this.". I nodded numbly, it still hadn't fully sunk in yet.
I'm going to be a Mum.
I finished sorting my makeup and threw the makeup bag back in my shoulder back along with the six tests.

The walk to the castle felt so much shorter now that I didn't want to go back. We walked back up to the castle in silence, neither of us knowing what to say.
We got back to the castle and I said goodbye to Sophie. She went down to the Slytherine common room to find Al and I went up to my dorm. In my dorm, I went in the bathroom and ran a bath. I didnt have a bath though. I slid down the door and cried.
