Chapter 7: Legend of the Toons
We woke up to the sound of giggling. Wakko and Francesca were standing by my bed.
"What?" I said groggily.
"Leela and Yakko sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
Bubba was on my bed too, barking his head off at me. I realized Yakko was still in bed with me. "Pfft, like you guys didn't sleep together!" he grinned.
Francesca said "Hey we were on different sides at least!"
Yakko and I just laughed. As we made our way downstairs, I whispered in Yakko's ear. "I can't keep it from them forever."
"Goodnight everybody!"
"Yakko, I'm serious!"
"I know," he agreed. "Maybe after breakfast?"
"Ok," I agreed. Wakko and Francesca were waiting in the kitchen.
"Did you bring the chocolate chips?" Wakko asked me excitedly.
"Of course I brought the chocolate chips!" I told him. "What would Yakko's pancakes be without chocolate chips?" Francesca whispered something to Wakko. "Francesca wants to know if she can make crepes to go with the pancakes, Yakko." Yakko grinned. "Why not?"
"I'm gonna go check on Dot and Skippy," I told them.
"Be careful," Yakko warned me. "You know how Dot gets if someone interrupts her cutie sleep."
"Gotcha." I went upstairs to the bedroom, where Dot was still snoring cutely. Skippy seemed on the verge of waking up, so I went over and tapped him on his nose. I couldn't help it, he was so cute! He yawned, opened his eyes, and smiled at me. I helped him get out of bed so he wouldn't wake up Dot, when I felt something heavy crawling up my leg. I looked down, and there were Pinky and The Brain. I grinned, scooped them up, and put them in my pocket. "You could have asked," I said, grinning.
Francesca said "Hey, can we get out of the water tower? I have some things to show you."
"Ok, let's check with Yakko."
We told him "We are going outside for a while"
Yakko replied "Ohhh can I come" "Yes," I said.
As we went outside, Francesca said "This is a great spot for a picnic!" We all agreed and went back to the water tower to get food and our friends. After we ate Francesca said "Can I do a trick?" Bubba, on the other side, was eating all of Francesca's food, while he was doing that, Francesca started running, did a round-off and did 3 backhandsprings ending with a backflip. We all cheered.
I suddenly realized that I didn't tell them about my nightmares.
"Guys? I need to tell you something." Yakko put an arm around my shoulders.
"What?" asked Francesca.
"I-I had another vision last night." I said with tears in my eyes, then told them what happened. At the end I just looked at the ground, unsure what to do. Suddenly I was in the middle of a group hug. Even Bubba joined in, licking my face. It felt so good, and I just wanted it to last forever. Eventually, we made our way back to the tower, arms still around each other's shoulders.
After we got back to the tower, our toon friends told me and Francesca that they were going to tell us something important. Yakko started.
"There's an old toon legend about this girl called Ella Stellar."
"Cool name," I said.
"Not everyone thought so," said Wakko. Dot picked up next.
"Everyone teased her about it, and then she ran away and was never heard from again."
"But apparently she went crazy and began to get crazy powers," whispered Skippy.
"W-what sort of crazy powers?" asked Francesca.
"TROZ! She can make herself really big and shoot things from her hands!" said Pinky.
"She's also a shapeshifter and can plant images in people's minds, supposedly," added Brain.
"Did she use those powers to punish her enemies?" I asked. Yakko nodded.
"She also renamed herself Cassandra, or Cassie for short. It was always sort of a campfire story, like Bigfoot."
"So if she exists," I began, "then why is she picking on me?"
"Well, the way you said it, it sounds like she thinks we're greater then her," said Skippy thoughtfully. "It sounds like she's jealous!"
"But why would she be jealous of us?" I wondered aloud. We left the meeting with more questions than answers.
Soooo... we now know that Cassie seems jealous of us... but why?
