Olivia is playing chess with Carla, Olivia decides to make it more fun

I don't own EoA and the chess game Olivia ends up making is similar to Wizard's chess from Harry Potter

"Liv, what is your brother doing with the cat?" Carla Delgado asked as Olivia played a recording of her brother Lucas dancing with the family cat Senor Whiskers as if the cat was a girl.

"I don't know, this morning as I was getting ready to leave I saw Lucas doing this," Olivia said laughing. Carla laughed harder.

"Hey Olivia, hey Carla," Mateo greeted going into the castle library.

"Hey Mateo," Olivia said looking over the couch.

"Um, Olivia did you use your recording spell on your brother?"

Olivia nodded.

"Ok, are you ready to become the Junior Royal Wizard?" Mateo asked opening up the workshop.

"Yes, are you looking for a potion to detect the baby's gender?" Olivia asked as Mateo looked through some books.

"No, Elena and I decided to wait until the baby is born to find out the gender."

Mateo grabbed a potion.

"I need more of calming potion, Olivia can you make?" Mateo asked. Olivia nodded got the book and started to make the potion. Mateo left the library and most likely went back to be with his pregnant wife Elena.

"So, Liv are you on team boy or team girl?" Carla asked getting out an empty vial.

"I don't know, how about you?"

"Team boy, since Mateo won't shut up about the baby being a girl."

Olivia laughed as she add the next ingredient.

"Team girl for me than."

Olivia finished the potion and put it in the vial. She was cleaning up and put the book away. She knocked into another book that fell to the ground.

"What is this?" Olivia asked herself, picking up the book. Olivia scrunched her face as she forced on a page.

"What are you looking at?" Carla asked leaving the workshop.

"A potion that can bring chess to live," Olivia said getting out the ingredients to make the potion. She started to do the complex potion, she chopped, minced, stirred and let it sit. Olivia pulled out the chess set she got for her twelfth birthday from her bag. She started to prep the chess board by cast a spell with her tamborita. Olivia looked over at the potion it turned from lime green to a royal blue. Olivia stirred it the potion three times clockwise and two time counterclockwise than added the chess pieces. She casted another spell and potion turned brown, the first part was done. She scrunched her face as she read the finale spell after she sat up the chess game.

"Olivia, did you do the chess thing?" Carla asked walking back into the workshop an hour and an half later . Olivia nodded.

"Want to play a game? Before we play I need to cast a spell to activate them."

Olivia brought the chess set into the library and put it on the coffee table.

"Ready," Olivia asked casting the spell. The chess pieces came to life. Olivia asked her pieces to move where she wanted it to, Carla did the same. The played for a few turns. Carla knocked into the board and one of her knights bite her, she waved her hand around knocking all of the pieces on to the ground. The pieces started to run all over the library.

"Oh no, we need to catch them," Olivia yelled as the pieces ran out of the library.

"Um, Liv, how do we catch it?"

Olivia told Carla the spell to deanimate the chess pieces. Olivia and Carla ran out of the library to find the pieces. Olivia saw the all of black pawns by a painting of Esteban that Olivia was pretty sure that Cristina's mother did. She casted a capturing spell, than she casted the deanimation spell. She put the pieces into her bag.

"Eight down, twenty-four more to go," Olivia muffled to herself. She ran through the halls of palace looking for the other pieces. She saw all of the rooks and captured them.

"Twelve down, twenty more to go."

Olivia continue to run looking around for the other pieces.

"Carla, how many pieces did you find?"

"I found the white pawns and the all of the bishops, how about you?"

"Black pawns and rooks, so we need to find the kings, queens and knights."

"Olivia, I found chess pieces that were almost alive. I'm assuming that they are yours," Isabel said handing over a small covered box. Olivia peaked into the box.

"You found black king and queen. Now we need to find the white king and queen and the knight," Olivia explained before casting the spell on the pieces.

"By the Olivia I only captured the pieces not deanimate them."

"Ok I'll cast it."

Olivia continued to look for the other six pieces. She found the black queen and deanimated it.

"Checkmate," she yelled after casting the spell on the black king. She put the piece into her bag and continue the hunt for the knights. She saw the white knights and quickly captured and deanimated them.

"Just two pieces to go."

"OLIVIA."

Olivia ran to who yelled at her.

"Mateo, I can explain, I made my old chess come to life, Carla and I were playing on of the black knights bite her, she knocked them over and we spent the last hour finding them."

"Oww, can you please get these knights off of me, they bite me. Also can you show me the book you found the spell in."

Olivia was able get black knights to stop biting Mateo and deanimated them. They went to the workshop after Olivia put the chess set away she showed Mateo the book.

"Olivia this is master level book, you did a master spell potion combination even I have trouble with. Olivia do you know what this means?"

"Um, I'm not in trouble?"

"No, Um yes, but also after you are named the Junior Royal Wizard you can start learning master level spells."

Olivia looked at the Master Royal Wizard/ Prince consort in shock.

"Wow, I have no words."

"I'm very proud of you, your parents will be proud of you too. Pretty soon you won't be me apprentice anymore, you will be my coworker," Mateo said putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Thanks Mateo."
