Gia's P.O.V.
It had only been a three weeks since Fireflash and luckily it was only a mild sprain, but I still have to wait another 9 weeks until I will be allowed on any rescues and another two weeks because Virgil wants to be sure it has healed properly before taking it off. Grandma and Virgil had just come back from the tearoom in London. Oddly, they were gone longer than expected but knowing Virgil and that big heart of his they probably took a detour to go and rescue someone. "How was your little outing?" I asked as they entered the living room.
"Aside from a massive blackout in London, yeah it was fine" Virgil said.
"By chance was it caused by the Luddites?" I asked.
"Yeah it was. How did you know?" He asked.
"Had a run in with them a while back at a gala that was being held by some members of the aristocracy of Britain and they tried to get the King to sign a document making technology illegal" I told him, "It was a long night"
"So that's how you got your title, Lady Ashworth, you got knighted" He said in awe, but he was teasing me slightly.
"That was only half of the reason" I stated.
"Did Alan and Gordon get their schoolwork done today?" Virgil asked.
"Yes, they did. Oh, and the school called about Gordon taking his exams soon" I told him.
"That means he will be pulled from rescues until he has done them, he isn't going to like being away from the water or his Thunderbird" Virgil stated, but we laughed at the thought of Scott and perhaps Grandma trying to get him off the island.
"Gia can you please come down here for a moment" Grandma asked. Virgil just looked at me knowing what I was in for, another one of her cookies.
"She probably wants help with making diner" I said getting up from my seat.
"Right" Virgil said.
"Can you go and find the others and tell them to go and get cleaned up, I think they went out to the trail after getting back from that last rescue" I asked him and he nodded in agreement. I headed down to the kitchen and Grandma was holding an envelope with my name on it. "Grandma what is going on?" I asked starting to get worried.
"We had a run in with an old acquaintance of yours and he left this for you" She said handing me the envelope. I opened it hoping it wasn't bad news. The note inside it read 'Heard about Fireflash, I hope you are ok. Don't worry I am doing just fine. Still no sign of the Manticore but I have a few strong leads on the Hood for you. There is a memory card for you with the relevant data. Hope to run into you soon. Long Live the Crystal Phoenix' I knew exactly who this came from. "He was there, wasn't he?" I asked.
"Yes, he was, but Virgil didn't see him" She told me. It didn't calm my nerves though.
"You know why the boys and Kayo can't know about my Hermano mayor and why we are apart" I said.
"And I know that you both miss each other terribly, no matter how far apart you are from each other" Grandma said. We saw Kayo, Scott, Alan, Virgil, and Gordon come out of the jungle laughing and joking, "Even if you are surrounded by people you love and those you hold dear. Your bond as twins can't be broken"
"I know, but he hasn't been in proper contact with me since that accident when we were nine no matter how hard I have tried, he just shut me out" I stated.
"The important thing is that he is trying to make sure you are safe, and he is trying to get in contact with you" Grandma said touching my shoulder. I felt a bit better, but I knew she was right. I could only hope my Hermano was ok.
"Now lets get dinner ready for them" Grandma said.
"Ok. But this time try not to nuke the spaghetti" I teased.
