The Force Awakens

Chapter 9: The Force Awakens

Kylo Ren is somehow weakened by this wicked act. He himself is horrified by his own actions. His shock is broken only when Chewie cries out in agony over the loss of his best friend! Chewie furiously fires at Kylo Ren, hitting him in the side! Kylo Ren falls back, stunned.

Stormtroopers try to fire at Chewie, who is forced to retreat down a corridor, where he holds the explosive remote. He pushes the button!

Several explosions begin to rock the structure. Catwalks begin to fall as the area caves in.

Kylo Ren sees Finn, Rey, and shocking him, Jace, who all watch the explosions in shock.

Then then see Kylo Ren, who recognizes them all, with astonishment. He rises to his full height and heads for them with long strides.

Stormtroopers begin to blast away at the trio! Rey is in a crazed state as she shoots her blaster, the bolts hitting around him. Finn wraps an arm around her and almost has to drag her out of sight.

Jace gives one last long look at Kylo before running after his friends.

….

Ackbar, "the Oscillator's been damaged but is still functional."

Officer Tabala Zo, "Admiral, their weapon will fire in two minutes."

….

From a distance the oscillator is ablaze and fractured from the explosives. Then Rey, Jace Finn appear, coming over a rising, running into a bare-tree snowy forest.

Finn, "the Falcon's this way."

Jace, Finn and Rey, overcome with emotion, race through the snowy forest, until Finn slows and stops. Rey and Jace stop too, all of them out of breath. They look at each other. They know, they can't run.

Kylo Ren moves through the trees, until he stops and takes out the saber, igniting it.

A still figure amidst the gusts of wind and snow.

He stands thirty feet away, facing our three heroes.

Finn holds Luke's Lightsaber, Rey the Stormtrooper blaster, and Jace his own saber, that he was ready to activate at any moment.

Kylo, "we're not done yet."

Rey, "you're a monster!"

Jace, "murderer!"

Kylo, "it's just us now. Han Solo can't save you."

After a moment, Rey moves forward with the blaster and aims it.

Kylo Ren raises a hand, Rey struggles under his force power, she can't fire, he strains too, especially with the wound Chewie inflicted. Kylo Ren gestures powerfully, making the blaster fly out of Rey's hand. Another gesture and Rey flies back and slams into a tree thirty feet away!

She drops and lands hard in the snow. She's dazed and hurt.

Finn and Jace run to Rey, concerned for her.

Finn, "Rey! Rey! Rey... Rey... Oh no. Oh no no no…"

Jace checked her pulse. Still alive, thank the Force. But it did nothing to ease his worry for her.

Finn turns to her, afraid and concerned. But the sound of Kylo Ren's lightsaber moving makes Jace and Finn turn back to Kylo, lit by the glowing yellow and red blade.

Kylo, "TRAITOR!"

In reply, Finn turns on Luke's lightsaber. Upon seeing the weapon, Kylo Ren reacts in shock.

Kylo, "that lightsaber. It belongs to me!"

Jace activates his own saber and says, "you don't deserve Anakin Skywalker's weapon! You call Finn a traitor, but I remember that day at the temple."

Kylo, "silence! Give. Me. That. Saber!"

Finn, "if you want it, come get it."

Despite his fear, Finn raises his blade in welcome. Jace does the same, getting into an aggressive stance. Kylo Ren charges at them, Finn is terrified as Ren lunges but Finn deflects Ren's spark-spitting blade!

Jace intercepts Ren, the two each blocking one another on almost perfect sync until Ren sends Jace back a few feet.

Kylo Ren turns, attacks, trying to cut Finn. Amazingly, Finn blocks, and counter-attacks, clearly impressing Ren, who only enjoys this challenge more!

Jace and Finn keep switching whenever one of them manages to send Kylo back.

Rey recovers, getting her bearings. Her eyes focus on the three men fighting, through the trees.

Kylo Ren is obviously hampered by his wound, yet he attacks with a primal savagery. Finn blocks, turning defensive, and moves into offensive ones. And he actually manages to get a hit in!

Luke's saber grazes Kylos arm! Kylo moves back, wounded, but more enraged than weakened. Kylo Ren charges again, with Jace joining in, their weapons pound, sparks fly, their blades lock.

The men are close, their faces lit by the powerful, crashing sabers. Kylo Ren pushes Finn back, also sensing Jace far enough away for him to attack the former trooper with pure ferocity.

Finn is stunned, unprepared for this fierceness.

Rey sees this, Kylo Ren unleashes a merciless series of blows, pushing Finn further and further back until he loses balance.

That's when Ren strikes. He lands a blow to Finn's torso.

Luke's lightsaber flies from Finn's hand, but Jace is able to use the Force to grab the weapon.

He now wields two sabers.

Kylo turns to Jace and says, "when I deal with you, and the rest of our family, the Skywalker legacy will be nothing. And I won't stop there. Every resistance soldier will suffer. Especially the scavenger. You can't defeat me Jace."

Jace glares at his cousin as he readies his weapons.

Jace, "I am Owen Jace Skywalker. Son of Luke and Mara. And you will not touch any one of them. Especially my family. Especially the woman I love!"

Kylo is shocked by that last statement for a moment before Jace, no, Owen, runs at him with both sabers ready to strike.

The two become locked within a furious battle, with Rey watching from her spot on the ground.

Both men fight like feral animals, both enraged by the others actions.

But it becomes too much for Owen, as Kylo uses the Force to send Owen into a tree, sending him to the ground, and sending the blue bladed lightsaber about twenty feet away.

Kylo Ren turns off his lightsaber and reaches for Luke's.

Owen is too exhausted to try and stop his cousin.

He beckons to it with the Force.

The lightsaber vibrates in the snow.

Kylo Ren gestures, increasing his power. Luke's lightsaber finally flies out of the snow like a blaster bolt towards Ren, but it speeds right past him!

He turns to see Luke's lightsaber land in the hand of Rey, who stands, facing him, having reached for it herself.

Owen grows a big smile at the sight.

Owen, "I knew it!"

But both Ren and Rey are shocked by what she's just done.

Rey looks at the saber in pure and utter awe at these new abilities of hers.

Holding it with both hands, she ignites Luke's lightsaber for the first time, her eyes blazing, being reflected by the blue light.

Kylo Ren ignites his own saber.

It's Rey who charges now, Kylo Ren immediately on the defensive. They battle with much power. Ren is clearly rocked by her raw, innate skill.

….

Back with the X-Wings.

Niv Lek, "we just lost R-1!"

Jess, "we're overwhelmed! What do we do? It isn't working!"

Another pilot looks down and sees the explosion coming from the oscillator.

Relatively small, it's an opening.

Yolo Ziff, "Black Leader, Jade Shadow, there's a brand new hole in that oscillator. Looks like our friends got in!"

Mara, "that's my boy!"

Poe, "Red Four! Red Six! Cover us!"

LT. Bastian, "I'm on it!"

Ello Asty, "Roger!"

Poe, "everybody else, hit the target hard! Give it everything you got!"

Mara, "let's blow this thing and go home!"

The X-Wings dive and blast the oscillator.

Another three ships, including Poe's X-Wing and the Jade Shadow, soar through the trench leading to the oscillator structure!

Poe, "I need some help here! I need some help!"

Mara, "got ya Poe!"

LT. Bastian, "I'm coming in!"

Jess, "watch out!"

Ello Asty, "I'm hit!"

The alien pilot's X-wing is blasted to pieces.

Por, "all teams, I'm going in! Pull up and cover me!"

Niv Lek, "copy that, Black Leader! Good luck, Poe!"

Mara, "give these moof milkers a taste of the Resistance!"

The trailing X-wings peel off as Poe's black fighter darts into the fiery breach.

….

Back in the control room.

Outside, the sun is almost completely gone! A technician says, "weapon at full capacity in thirty seconds."

Hux, "prepare to fire."

….

Poe's X-wing weaves through the breach. A pursuing TIE fighter does not clear the gap, leaving Poe to circle the interior of the unguarded structure, firing volley after volley of torpedoes.

The remaining X-Wings, including Poe's, blast the place, and the structure begins to crater, deep underground explosions!

….

Amid the bare white trees, only two lightsabers are seen.

Luke's blue, and Ren's sparking red illuminate the flurries of snow.

Rey and Kylo Ren battle hard as Owen makes his way over to Finn.

Rey seems to be, impossibly, stronger than he is for half a dozen blows, due to Ren's wound, and Rey being filled with pure adrenaline, until Ren finds his strength and fights back, moving forward and pushing Rey back into the forest.

Suddenly a colossal chunk of the forest right behind Rey drops away like an anchor in the ocean! Rey is suddenly fighting on the edge of a massive brand new cliff!

Kylo, "you need a teacher! I can show you the ways of the Force!"

Rey, "the Force."

Kylo thinks he had the upper hand.

But Rey closes her eyes for a long moment.

Her mind thinks about what she's fighting for.

The Resistance.

BB-8.

Finn.

Chewie.

Jace…. Owen!

When Rey opens them, she is centered, fortified, and she fights back, single handed swipes, hitting Ren's gnarly, spitting saber with incredible force. It's so fast now, so furious, that Kylo Ren falls back. She attacks harder!

Ren gets up again but she hits his sabers hilt. His blade goes off flying, tumbling into the snow, and she slashes again and again, hitting Kylo Ren square in the face and chest. He goes down, suddenly a fearful man, with a large burn scar slashed across his face! He still reaches for his saber.

And she could kill him, right now, with one vicious strike!

But she stops, realizing she stands on a greater edge than even the cliff. The edge of the dark side.

Owen sees this, and breathes a sigh of relief.

As much as Owen hated his cousin for what he's done, he would never allow him or Rey to strike someone down in anger.

The ground shakes beneath her. The earth splits. A gully forms between Rey and Kylo Ren.

….

The area where the rally was held is now collapsing into a giant sink-hole! We see a young technician, who watches this out the control room window in horror. He hurries off, passing Colonel Datoo, who admonishes, "Lieutenant, get back to your station!"

The technician stops, fleetingly and says, "just look. We won't survive, even Hux has gone!"

As he hurries off, Hux is in the assembly room.

He stands before Snoke's image. Relative quiet here, but distant sounds of destruction around them. Hux tries to keep it together but is horrified, heartsick.

Hux, "Supreme Leader. The fuel cells have ruptured. The collapse of the planet has begun."

Snoke takes this in. Furious, desolate… but knowing.

Snoke, "leave the base at once and come to me with Kylo Ren. It is time to complete his training. Our master has forseen it."

….

Rey turns and runs a hundred feet through the forest to Finn and Owen. Finn lies, near death, not far from where the ground fell away. Owen guards over his friend. Rey falls to her knees near them, and turns him over, sees his cauterized but possibly fatal wound.

Rey, "Finn! Finn…."

Tears come to her eyes as she lifts him, holds his lifeless body in her arms. Snow flurries around them as she cries, holding this boy who she just met, who she already cares for so much.

Owen puts a hand on her shoulder.

Their eyes lock once again.

Owen, "Rey, I don't know if we're gonna make it out of this. So, I wanted to tell you…. I think I love you."

Both Have tears in their eyes as Rey responds with, "I love you too, Owen."

They are left here to die, but them being together gives them a glimmer of hope. Nearby more trees drop. As the

planet continues to collapse. And just as it seems like all is lost... Her wet eyes look up to see….

…. Lights rise from the newly formed canyon.

The Millenium Falcon!

The lights illuminate the pair, whose faces fill with hope.

Chewie is at the controls, with Nine using their smaller arms to help them pilot. He roars to them!

Chewie exits the ship, and moments later, Chewie carries Finn up the ramp. Rey hurries with them back into the ship, with Owen close behind.

Chewie carries Finn over to a bed, followed by Rey and Owen

The Falcon leaves the planet.

We can see Chewie and Rey piloting, with Owen and Nine right behind them, the leaving The collapsing planet behind.

The Resistance X-wings, led by Poe, and Mara in the Jade Shadow, follow the Falcon.

Poe, "all teams! I got eyes on them!"

Snap, "yes!"

Mara, "never doubt those kids!"

The X-wings roar off, skyward as the planet implodes.

The sunlight it contains bursts forth, and as we get further and further distance from what was Starkiller Base, we witness the rebirth of a sun. Light restored to a corner of the galaxy.

The Millennium Falcon and the X-wings rip through space, headed home.

Poe, "our job's done here. Let's go home!"

….

Back on D'qar

We see the Falcon landing among the remaining Resistance ships.

Poe is there, watching as Chewie scuttles down the ramp carrying an unconscious Finn. Medical Personnel and Officers, meet them and usher them inside.

A medic goes, "easy, easy. He's hurt. We've got a heartbeat."

Rey walks down the ramp and sees, for the first time, Leia.

Leia and Chewie share a long hug. They both lost the most important people in their lives.

C-3PO and BB-8 stand behind Leia. The crowds are cheering.

Rey is so sad for Leia, so sorry for the loss of Han.

The two women move for each other. And Leia takes Rey's face in her hands. Despite her heartbreak, she is grateful.

She embraces Rey. It feels like a mother's embrace. Something she hasn't felt in a long time.

Rey cries, too, in this emotional first meeting.

Owen goes towards them. Leia sees him. Rey lets her go so she can see her nephew. Owen and Leia share a long hug, and when Mara sees them, she joins the hug. The family taking comfort in who's left.

Chewbacca sits quietly, as do many in the base, mourning their losses.

As BB-8 and Nine approach R2-D2, the long dormant droid suddenly stirs. The droids beep at each other.

C-3PO, "R2-D2! You've come back!"

R2 beeps at his old friend.

C-3PO, "you found what? How dare you call me that!"

He swats R2-D2, who continues beeping.

C-3PO, "find Master Luke how? Come, R2! We must go tell the others at once!"

Leia stands alone and in silence, heartbroken.

C-3PO, "General? Excuse me, General?"

Leia turns to see droids.

C-3PO, "R2-D2 may contain some much needed good news."

Leia, "tell me."

Rey and Owen stand with Leia, Poe, Mara, C-3PO, Nine, BB-8 and a handful of Resistance Officers. Suddenly R2-D2 projects a hologram! A large navigational map with a certain missing chunk!

BB-8 beeps, and Poe turns to him to say, "yeah, all right, buddy, hold on."

Poe runs over and removes the ancient data device that Lor San Tekka had given him from a base computer. He inserts it back inside BB-8, who then projects his map, which he shrinks down to size, and the two droids move slightly together. The two holograms unite, BB-8'S piece filling in R2-D2's perfectly!

Everyone reacts amazed!

C-3PO, "oh! The map! It is complete!"

Leia puts a hand on her heart as one grasps Mara's.

In unison, they say, "Luke ."

Owen, "dad!"

Poe turned to his friend, "congratulations Jace. Mission's accomplished."

Suddenly there are cheers and embraces.

C-3PO leans down to R2-D2 and says, quietly, sweetly, "oh my dear friend. How I've missed you."

….

Later, in the ICU.

It's a new day. Finn, unconscious in an I.C.U. pod. His fate is almost uncertain. Rey sits with him. Deeply worried. She rubs his hair for a moment and says, quietly, despite her fear, "we'll see each other again. I believe that. Thank you, my friend."

Owen salutes his friend and says, "until next time Finn."

….

Chewie does last minute checks of the Falcon. Rey stands with Leia for a moment and then turns to head to the Falcon. As Rey walks off, she hears Leia call out, "Rey."

Rey turns around.

Leia, "May the Force be with you."

This fills Rey up with hope. She smiles gratefully and crosses to the Falcon.

As she enters, she sees Owen standing there.

The two look at one another before they hug. They both look at one another, and their lips meet in a passionate exchange, their love for one another on their sleeves.

Despite knowing each other for less then a week, they know that what they feel for one another is real!

But soon, the kiss ends as Rey moves to the cockpit, entering it and sitting in the pilot seat, Chewie as co-pilot. Rey looks at him compassionately.

Owen enters with his mother.

Mara, "alright hon'. Let's go find your father."

Both were eager to see Luke again.

Nine and R2 were elsewhere in the ship.

Rey flicks some switches and The Millennium Falcon rises.

Leia, with Poe, BB-8, and C-3PO, with his proper arm replaced, watches the next generation of Jedi begin their journey.

The Falcon flies through space and blasts to lightspeed.

….

They arrive at Ahch-To.

A pristine and mighty ocean. Endless blue, dotted with random, beautiful, mountainous black rock islands, dotted with countless green trees.

The Millennium Falcon banks towards one of the islands.

….

Rey, her staff strapped to her back, begins her hike up the considerable mountain, glancing back at Chewie, Nine and R2-D2, who watch her from the bottom of the ramp.

Owen and Mara are with her.

A deep breath and Rey continues her journey.

Built within the rock and foliage of this idyllic island are seemingly endless ancient stone steps. The group continues to climb them, determined, despite their fatigue.

But as the small group stops for a minute, they hear something.

They see a hooded figure walking down the stairs. She's feeding a small bird-like creature in her hand.

As the figure stops to see them, their face shrouded in shadow, they hear a female voice say, "who are you?"

Rey, "I'm Rey. These are Owen and Mara. Who are you? Are you here with Luke Skywalker?"

The figure freezes, and lifts their hands to remove their hood.

As the hood falls back, each one of them are shocked by what they see.

The figure is a girl, a few years older than Owen, with short dark red hair, and a face like Mara's, with a small scar on her right cheek, and one above her left eye.

She asks, "mom? Owen?"

Owen and Mara, "Padme?"

The girl gets closer, and lifts her hand to feel the scar on Owen's face.

She says, "I thought you were dead!"

It WAS Padme!

Owen and Mara hug their long-lost sister/daughter.

All of them had tears in their eyes.

A family had been reunited.

Well, almost.

Padme asked, "how did you all get here? And who is this girl?"

Owen, "we've been on one crazy mission to find dad. This is Rey. She's helped me on my mission. And…. There's something between us."

As Padme looked at the blushing girl in front of her, she simply said, "if you did all of this for my brother, I don't mind."

Rey smiles as the family separates.

Mara, "Padme, where is Luke?"

Padme sighs, "after the temple, dad was broken. I came with him here. I'll show you where he is."

Later, they arrive at a clearing. Small, modest, primitive stone structures. But no one is around. They walk past them but see and sense no one.

And then they stop. They feel something. They turn, and standing forty feet away from them, his back to them, is a man, in a cloak and robe.

Rey stares, knowing exactly who it is. But she just stares for what seems like forever.

Owen and Mara both have looks of anticipation on their faces.

Until he finally turns, slowly, to them, and pulls back his hood.

IT IS LUKE SKYWALKER.

Older now, white hair, bearded. He looks at Rey. A kindness in his eyes, but there's something tortured, too. He doesn't need to ask her who she is, or what she is doing here. His look says it all. Somehow, he knows who she is.

He sees Owen and Mara with Padme, and his breath hitches.

In response, Rey pulls something from the pack.

Luke's lightsaber.

And she holds it out to him. An offer. A plea. The galaxy's only hope.

Luke looks amazed and conflicted at what he sees. Like he's not sure what to do with such an offer.

The promise of an adventure, just beginning...

mmat: Luke is not gonna keep the blue saber. Yes, as you can see, Padme is with Luke. Cal will have a daughter with him Ezra won't have any, and Ahsoka will have a family that she left with allies for safety.

Amanny: as you can see, we see Owen, Finn and Rey all fighting against Kylo, with Rey having the advantage at the end, since Finn and Owen have already worn him down a bit. And yeah, I hope I managed to capture the pain and sorrow we all felt when Han died.

Zero: I'm gonna change it. Instead of simply burying Luke's green and blue sabers and Leia's saber, they make a small monument outside of the house, planning to start a new order on Tatooine.

I figured that the last chapter should be named after the movie.

Jace will now be called Owen for most of the story, but some characters will keep calling him Jace.

Rey, Owen, Mara, Chewie, R2 and Nine find Luke, and Padme!

Keep in mind, Last Jedi is when a lot of the story will change. More people on the island, Luke's attitude changes a bit, I'll try to make Finn, Rose and BB-8's story more enjoyable, fix certain lines in the film, give Holdo a reason for not telling anyone her plan, keep Ackbar alive, and more build up Rey's heritage and Palpatine's return.

As for Rise of SkyWalker, it'll mostly follow the same plot, but with a few twists.

Including, Palpatine's ghost is possessing his own dead body as he tries to perfect a clone of himself, Including a younger one, (the alleged Matt Smith one). Chewie pilots an X-Wing while Lando pilots the Falcon.

During the final battle, Finn, Rose and a few others hijack a Star Destroyer as Rey, Owen, Ben and Padme fight against Palaptine and his clones. During the fight, we would see the ghosts of Obi Wan, Anakin, Yoda and a few more with the ghosts of Sith lords like Maul, Dooku, Magus, and more.
