Back at Tails's workshop, Tails and Amy were getting ready to infiltrate Eggman's base and managed to convince Knuckles to go with them.*

"This better be worth the trouble, I need to be guarding the Master Emerald." the echidna said, climbing onto one of the Tornado's wings. "Don't worry, Knuckles. This shouldn't take long." Tails said, climbing into the pilot seat, "Yeah, we'll be and out faster than you can say 'Chaos Control'." Amy added as she climbed into the passenger seat.

"We better." Knuckles mumbled as Tails started up the Tornado and took off.

At Club Rogue, E-123 Omega was examining Sonic while Shadow and Rogue weren't around. "No physical issues detected" he said as quietly as he could as he scanned the immobile hero when the communicator on a nearby table started to vibrate. "Omega? Could you get me that communicator?" Rouge called from a nearby room.

"Affirmative." the robot said, picking up the communicator and giving it to Rouge.

"Hello?" Rouge asked the one who called her.

"Rouge! We really need help!" a panicked voice on the other end yelled, but Rouge could hardly make out what the speaker was saying, due to the static. "What's wrong, Tails?" Rouge asked, concerned.

"It was an ambush! Knuckles was shot with a tranquilizer dart and me and Amy are fighting alone!" he said, "We need ba- AH!". The communicator then went silent, leaving Rouge worried about the two friends.

"Shadow!" she called up the stairs, "What is it this time?" he asked, coming down. "Tails and Amy are in trouble, Tails said that they were ambushed." Rouge told him.

"Don't they have the echidna with them?"

"He was tranquilized."

"Ugh, fine. Let's go." Shadow groaned as he and Rouge left the building.

But unbeknownst to them, Sonic had just received a command from a user known as Anonymous to go to Eggman's base and to try to do it while keeping a low profile if possible, and was going to follow it no matter what.

At Eggman's base, robots were carrying the supine forms of the three captives and taking them to highly secure prison cells. "Excellent work, my robots." Dr. Eggman praised his mechanical creations as they locked the heroes up. "Orbot, has the blue rodent arrived, yet?" he asked his spherical lacky, "Not yet, sir." the black and red robot responded.

Just then, a nearby ceiling vent cover was slammed to the floor, and Rouge came out. "What have you done to Tails, Amy and Knuckles, Doctor?" she demanded, "Ah, Rouge. Just the bat I wanted to see." Dr. Eggman said, giving an evil grin. "Answer the question." she growled. "Well, if you must know, I guess I'll tell you..." the evil doctor paused just as a red button popped up from a nearby console and he hit it with his finger, "...when you're roboticized!".

The evil doctor cackled as a cage fell onto Rouge, "You won't get away with this!" she sneered. "Oh, I think I already ha-." the mad doctor said but was interrupted by an explosion. When he looked at where the explosion had come from, he was dismayed to see his captives free, and with Shadow, too.

"Curses!" he said as he pressed another button to open a door to reveal an entire badnik army. "Get them!" Dr. Eggman ordered the army and it obeyed.

But unbeknownst to the heroes, Sonic had arrived at Eggman's side and the evil inventor gave an evil grin as he whispered a command to the android. Sonic nodded in understanding and went over to his friends while his eyes went back to their emerald green color to distract them while Dr. Eggman was busy inserting all the chaos energy that was collected straight from the Chaos emeralds into a machine with a grey, diamond shaped crystal embedded into the side.

"Hey, Tails!" Sonic called, turning a few of his friends' heads to look at him, "Wha- Sonic?" Rouge asked. Wasn't he supposed to be in the apartment?

"Who else could it be?" he asked with a smirk and spindashed into a nearby motobug.

While they were all fighting his robots, Dr. Eggman grinned evilly as the machine was charging up. However, it didn't go unnoticed by Shadow as the ebony hedgehog was flipping in midair to dodge an attack from a nearby robot and he quickly destroyed it and went for the machine, figuring that it absolutely had to be destroyed before it could be activated.

"Not today, Eggman!" Shadow said with a chaos spear in his hand. "Shadow, wait!" Sonic called out, but it was too late. Shadow had already thrown the Chaos spear at the machine, so the azure hero dived in front of the machine, allowing it to strike his arm, surprising his friends. Why did Sonic do that?

"Sonic!" Tails exclaimed, using his twin tails to fly over to his older brother to see if he was alright.

"I-I'm fine-ine." the azure hero said, his voice glitching out as he tried to hide the disembodiment of his arm while he received alerts of critical damage and a potential shutdown because of it as his eyes showed static for a split-second. But it was proven futile as Tails pried his fingers open, saying that he used that excuse last time.

When the twin-tailed fox got Sonic to let go of his arm, his eyes widened in shock and possibly horror when he saw the blue android's arm tumble to the ground as Sonic's eyes turned entirely black with a flashing red battery outline indicating that his main battery depleted and the hedgehog dropped to his knees with his head down.*

"W-what the-?!" was all he could get out before Shadow created another Chaos spear, "I don't know why you did that, Faker, but if it's a machine created by Eggman, it needs to be destroyed before it is able to do any serious damage." he said. And with that, he threw the Chaos spear at the machine.

"No!" Dr. Eggman shouted as it made its mark, "You fool! Look what you've done!" he yelled, pointing at the machine, which was now sparking, but the crystal was now pulsing from black back to grey.

Suddenly, the pulsing stopped as everyone stared, then a huge explosion of light engulfed everyone and everything in its path.

Elsewhere….

"Something's wrong…."

"What is it, sister?"

"Someone has reactivated the portal…."

School, writer's block, being unable to be on my computer, and family stuff REALLY gets in the way of giving you paw-some readers content you love! Hopefully chpt 5's wait won't be as long as this wait was.
