Some time later, Remy was interrupted from his explination of Kitty Pride by Theo.
"We be movin' out," he'd simply informed them.
Rogue frowned at this, becoming disappointed.
"That's it? The nights over?" she asked, not ready for Remy's explinations to end.
Remy chuckled at her as he stood up.
"Oh no chérie. De night only just beginin'. Although, might become harder t' discuss what we have been," Remy said, extending his hand down to Rogue.
"How come?" Rogue asked, as she reached up and took Remy's hand.
She didn't need it, but it felt like a good gesture move. He didn't drop it and kept her close as they began to move into the crowded dining area to leave the restaurant.
Before Remy could begin to explain how things were going to be different, a hefty arm wrapped around her neck.
"Y' abandonin' moi again princesse?" Came Etienne's voice, his mouth was open and his grin large and toothy as he smiled at her.
Rogue's back had gone very stiff at Etienne's touch.
"Don't know what ya talkin' 'bout," she said. "Ya went off ta play ya game."
Rogue reached up with her free hand to remove Etienne's hand from around her neck since it was draggin her down and she didn't want to be touched by him.
Etienne's movements were surprisingly fast as he took hold of her hand and pinned it to her chest.
"Awww, be fair now," he said, his words stiring quite a bit. "Y' said y' let moi t'acheter un verre. Dat ain't happened yet, so how 'bout it?"
"Maybe you best go easy on de les boissons," Remy said, reaching up for Rogue and going to unhook Etienne's arm.
Rogue felt Etienne near throw his weight on her just to keep his arm wrapped around her. When she saw Etienne's eyes turn into slits and his revulsion appear through his clenched jaw, Rogue became concerned.
"Y' ain't le prince ici, best back off. Give others a go," Etienne warned.
When Rogue felt Etienne tug on her again, her patience became thin. She pulled her hand out of Remy's and shoved Etienne in the chest.
"No, ah think Remy's right. Ya need ta go easier on the drinks an' chill out a bit," Rogue said.
Etienne's face fell very quickly into confusion as he glanced down at Rogue's face. He was wobbling from side to side a little bit."
"What'd ce putain say t' get y' retour à être copains de lit ? Tu sais qu'il est juste apés le sexe ?" Etienne said.
Rogue, of course, couldn't understand what Etienne said. But Remy did, and if he wasn't irritated already, he was furious now. Rogue gasped as she felt a firm arm wrap around tightly around her waist, pulling her into a body and saw a hand come out, grabbing a handful of Etienne's top.
"Y' need t' go, now," Remy said in a dangerously low voice.
Rogue glanced up at Remy, noticing that the brown iris' seemed to be smoking and bits of crimson was coming through.
"Remy?" Rogue questioned, not liking the murderous look in his eyes. She was definetly in the wrong place at the wrong time as Etienne went to grab a handful of Remy's trench coat.
"Faîtes-moi," Etienne challenged, walking into Rogue as if he didn't know she was there.
Remy did, and he just held her tighter to him.
"Ay, easy," Theo said as he took Etienne's shoulder.
Rogue watched as Theo began to push Etienne away and, almost, restrain him. She felt herself being pulled as Remy kept them walking. Rogue didn't much like the force, but she didn't like how pissed off Remy seemed.
When they were in the streets, Rogue made a move to distangle herself from Remy. Remy seemed to notice her pulling away and his attention shifted.
"What'd Eti say?" Rogue asked, folding her arms as she looked up at him.
"Just Eti being his usual self. Annoyin' an' deservin' un coup de poing à l'intestin," he rattled off in french.
Rogue's frown deepened.
"He really get's under your skin, huh?" she asked.
Remy snorted at that.
"He's a wind up. Nothin' I can't handle," he said.
"Really ? 'cause ya don't seem ta be takin' what he said well," Rogue said.
Remy shrugged and Rogue let it go.
"Your… eyes were starting to turn red," Rogue said as she walked beside him.
"They still red?" Remy asked her, glancing down with an expression she couldn't read.
"No, the brown's still there. Looks like the colours changed a bit," she said.
"Dat so?" he said.
"Can ah ask, why are ya eyes red?" Rogue said, figuring she'd bite the bullet and ask the question she'd been wondering since she first laid eyes on him. Well, first time since losing her memories.
"Born wit' em. That a probleme?" he asked, his smirk lost once again.
"Not at all," Rogue responded.
There was a moments silence between them. Something had shifted in their light hearted ease and she knew it had something to do with what Etienne said. But she had no idea how to get that relax Remy back. And Rogue just couldn't seem to shift the topic of Remy's eyes now that she'd started.
"Guessin' ya got a lot of stick for them, huh? When growin' up?" Rogue asked.
"Don't," was the only response she got from him.
Rogue hung her head, kicking herself slightly for asking a question she knew would have a negative response. She searched and searched in her mind, trying to find a topic that would change the uneasy tension between them and shift his focus.
"Ya never did explain what's happenin' that'll make it difficult for ya ta talk ta meh," Rogue said, still following Remy.
"Nights like dis, we normally hit mutilple bars. See whom de last one standin' is. Becomes more of a group sport than somet'in' private," Remy explained.
Rogue pouted, not liking how distant Remy was being with her. Her pout didn't last too long as another hand grabbed onto her shoulder.
"Te voilà!" Merci exclaimed as she turned Rogue around to face her. "Where y' been?"
Rogue reached her own hand out to steady Merci as she noticed she was swaying. Merci went to wrap both her arms around Rogue's neck now. For some reason, the physical contact made Rogue a little uncomfortable, but she didn't want to push Merci away and have her fall. It seemed like those heels Merci had chose to wear tonight were really not a great idea.
"Just walkin' with Remy. Ya alright?" Rogue asked, noticing Henri wasn't far behind.
"Jamais mieux," Merci said, moving to link Rogue's arm. Rogue found herself having to keep both Merci's balance for her as well as her as she moved Merci into a more supported position. "What went down wit' Eti?"
"Oh, that," Rogue said, bitting the inside of her check as she quickly glanced at Remy. He wasn't giving anything away. "Nothin' really. He just had too much t' drink ah guess."
"C'est n'importe quoi," Merci rattled off. "Tell moi," she insisted, forcing Rogue to walk on without Remy, leaving him with Henri.
Rogue raised her eyebrow at Merci, but let her guide her forwards.
"Either, y'all speak more French when ya've had a drink, or ah'm losin' mah mind by the second" Rogue said.
Merci laughed out right at that, throwing her arm up to wrap around Rogue's neck. Rogue ducked a little, reaching up to grab hold of Merci's wrist and keep it pinned in one position.
"Non, c'est nous," Merci said.
Rogue shuck her head.
"An' there it is again," Rogue responded.
Merci just laughed a drunken, bubbly laugh.
Henri had come to walk beside Remy as he followed closely behind Rogue.
"Theo sent Eti back," Henri said to Remy.
Remy snorted at that.
"Couldn't a been sooner," he said.
Henri glanced from his brother to Rogue in front.
"There be a lotta people reachin' out for her t'night, dats f' sure," he responded, still concerned as he watched Merci wiggle around while Rogue tried to convine her. "Y' sure not tellin' her 'bout her condition be best mon frére? Dun't seem like nuthin' good come from withholdin' from dat femme."
The sparks in Remy's eyes glowered as he turned his furry on Henri.
"Dat y' sayin' y' gonna spill few more t'ings y' shouldn't?" Remy asked, his eyes sparking dangerously.
"Don't t'ink I should. It raise too many questions comin' from moi or anyone else." Henri said, ignoring Remy's suggestion that he had already told Rogue too much. "'though, hidin' somet'ing like dat, it only be a matter of time till it be discovered. Y' should tell her frére, 'fore she finds out on her own."
