Battle with the Black Knight

Under a moonlit night in the foggy forests of the beast nation of Gallia, Greil was dueling with the person he found in the fort, the Black Knight. When Ike saw the two dueling, Greil told Ike to stay back away from the dangerous fight. The Black Knight later threw him a sword similar to his sword Alondite. The sword, that was thrown, which was called Ragnell, was thrown to Greil.

"What are you doing?" Greil asked the Black Knight.

"I've been waiting for this fight for a long time." "I would be satisfied if you used your proper weapon, so that I might see you to full strength, General Gawain, Rider of Daein." The Black Knight said in a demonic voice.

"That was my name… once." Greil said as he rolled over a log. He then picked up the sword and threw it at the Black Knight. "But I… threw it away. The only weapon I need… is right… here." He later said as he brandished his axe, Urvan.

"Do you want to die?" the Black Knight asked.

Greil, who recognized the demonic voice as one of his former students, replied to the mysterious figure. "Your voice… I remember you. Think you can defeat me, the man who taught you how to fight? Heh. What a fool. Come on boy, come try me!" Greil exclaimed.

And so, the fight continued on. Ike was watching in horror, hoping that the Black Knight would not claim his victory. However, Ike was wrong. The Black Knight brandished Alondite, and used the sacred sword to stab Greil in the stomach.

"Is that all there is… no challenge… no… resistance…" The Black Knight thought. He later removed Alondite as Greil fell back. Ike rushed to catch Greil, who was covering his bloody wound. The two later fell back.

"Unbelievable." The Black Knight said. "Is this truly what has become of my teacher?"

Ike then tried to save his father. "Father! Hold on!" Ike exclaimed.

The Black Knight then went to Greil and held out his hand. "Now then, give me what I came for."

"I…don't…have it… I…threw…it away…" Greil said in a dying voice.

"You, who knows better than what it truly is, threw it away?" The Black Knight asked. "Surely you can craft a more plausible lie. You're not even trying anymore."

Greil later got angry with the Black Knight. "I'm done talking to you!" he later exclaimed.

"So, there's no way for me to get answers, is that it?" The Black Knight thought. "The dead keep their secrets, or so it's said. You, however, are not dead yet." He later said to Greil. "I just wonder… will watching your son's face grow pale, his eyes grow dim as his life bleeds away?" he later asked Greil about his son, Ike. "And then your daughter… oh, the horrors I will visit upon her… perhaps that will loosen your tongue? Oh, let me see… we'll just have to see on that." Ike was getting furious with the Black Knight for thinking about his younger sister like that.

"Hm… just let me look." The Black Knight said as he walked over to Ike. He later punched him right on the left side of his face. Ike later fell back.

"Ike! No!" Greil hollered.

"And I won't check my hand again, either. But give me what I am after. If you offer no more resistance, then I will leave your child alone." The Black Knight said.

"S-Stop! You will not touch my son!" Greil hollered at the Black Knight. Then, a beast's roar was heard in the distance. That was the roar of King Caineghis, the king of Gallia.

"The king of beasts? How bothersome. Do I retreat?" The Black Knight thought.

"You're not going anywhere." Greil said to the Black Knight.

"Tell me… is the son as stupid as the father?" the Black Knight thought to himself.

Greil later tried to stand up, but due to pain in his stomach, he fell, losing a lot of blood in the process. Ike tried to stop the Black Knight, but Greil said to him there was no way he could win the fight as the Black Knight was too powerful. Then, the roar of the king of beasts was heard again.

"…Oh, so close… now is not the time for me to deal with him. You get to keep your life today, boy." The Black Knight said. He later retreated with warp magic. Later, it started to rain.

"So willful… so arrogant… but of course the one who made him like that… was me…" Greil said. Ike decided to carry his father back to Gebal Castle.

"Ike…" Greil said as he woke up.

"Father? You're awake!" Ike said.

"I… I need you to take care of everything." Greil said. "It also looks like… I'm going to have to leave you now."

"What?" Ike thought to himself. "You mustn't say such things, Father!"

"I need you to take care of the company… and Mist." Greil said as he was dying from extreme blood loss. "And also… forget about revenge. Leave that knight alone… stay away…"

Back with the other mercenaries in Gebal Castle, Samantha was looking out the window. She saw that Commander Greil was wounded and gathered up all of the mercenaries to see if Greil was okay. By the time they got outside, Ike was crying.

"A little longer… stay a little longer, Father!" Ike said as he was crying. Greil died by the time all of his mercenaries gathered around him.
