PREVIOUSLY-
"Let's go to sleep, wolf boy. Goodnight." I said, kissing his chest where my head was laying.
"Goodnight, my little minx."
I fell into a deep sleep and only got unsettled around 5am, when Sam left to run patrol while Charlie was leaving. He came back an hour later and we both fell back asleep as soon as he was in the bed.
I didn't wake up until around 10am, and I felt amazing, like I had the best sleep of my life. I looked over at my wolf, still sound asleep, his feet hanging off the end of my bed. I untangled myself from him carefully, trying not to wake him up as I went to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
After I was done, I went downstairs and began making breakfast. Today it was going to be pancakes.
I was too busy cooking to notice Sam walking downstairs until his arms snaked around my waist and his chin came to rest on my shoulder.
"I could really get used to this." He muttered, the sound of sleep still in his voice. "When you said the imprint speeds things up, I didn't imagine it would be this fast. One day and I'm hooked for life. I don't want to be away from you. I slept the best I ever have. I wake up and you're making delicious breakfast. Only one day and you've domesticated an alpha wolf."
"Well then, why doesn't my domesticated alpha wolf call his pack for breakfast. I made enough for all of you." I told him, turning to kiss him on the lips. His smile was infectious.
"You" kiss "are" kiss "incredible" kiss. He walked outside and returned in less than five minutes. "They'll be here in about 5."
"Help set the table?" I asked, but he was already grabbing plates out of the cabinet. I smiled up at him and set the gigantic plates of pancakes on the table. I had made them my special apple cinnamon pancakes, and I was really hoping they would all like them.
A few minutes later, I heard the double wolf yip outside, and I yelled for them to just come in, knowing they would hear me. Sure enough, two shirtless boys came barreling through the door. I sat down at the table and grabbed two pancakes for myself.
"Eat up." I told them and all three grabbed probably 8 or more each. I'd made 3 dozen, just to be on the safe side.
"Damn, B, your food just keeps getting better and better. Are these apple cinnamon?" Jared asked as he inhaled his food.
"Yep. Special recipe." I said, proud that they liked them.
"Imagine waking up to this smell…" Sam bragged.
"Wait, bro, you slept here last night?" Paul asked quickly, picking up on it. "Didn't know you had it in you, Swan, sneaking guys in at night."
"I'm not the little goody-two-shoes you think I am, Paul. Sam's already found that out." I told him while winking at Sam.
"Bella…" growled Sam.
"So, what's the plan for today, boss?" Jared asked, clearing his throat.
"Bonfire tonight at the beach. I'm bringing Bella down after we get this cleaned up and I'm going to tell Billy about the imprint and see about getting Leah off the res. After that, I think Bella and I are going to take a nap. Neither of us got much sleep last night." Paul and Jared sniggered at each other. "Paul, run a full sweep, and make sure to circle around the Cullen's place just in case. Meet us at the beach at 5pm."
"You got it, boss." Paul said and both boys left.
Sam and I cleaned up the kitchen and got in my truck headed to La Push. Once there, we pulled into the small red house where I saw Billy and Jacob outside by the garage.
"Sam, Bella, good to see you." Billy said, rolling up to us.
"Bella, hey!" Jacob said, running up to me and giving me a hug. I heard Sam growl deeply. "Uh, what are you doing here with him?"
"She's my-" Sam began but I cut him off.
"Girlfriend. I'm his girlfriend, Jacob. We came to actually talk to your dad about something." I told him as Sam took and held my hand. Jacob looked dejected at the news. "Sam, why don't you go talk to Billy while I talk to Jake for a minute?" I said, looking up at Sam who puffed his chest, but nodded his head, letting go of my hand.
Sam knew I needed to talk with Jacob, but I knew he was reluctant to leave me alone with him. I needed to set the boundaries with Jake and explain Sam and I.
I followed Jacob into the garage while Sam followed Billy into the house. "Seriously, Bells, him? I thought you were with that Cullen guy."
"The Cullens left town after Edward broke up with me after my birthday last week." I said, thinking of the easiest explanation. "After Sam found me in the woods, I went to his house yesterday to thank him and we hung out. We really just fit really well. I like him and he likes me, so he asked me out and I said yes. I promise you'll understand one day, Jake."
"I just don't get it, how can you be dating the guy after only one day?" He asked, exasperated.
"It's like one of those things where if you know, you know, I guess. That's the best explanation I can give you right now." I told him, hoping he'd drop it.
"Just why him?" Jacob persisted. "He up and disappeared for a month, came back and dumped his girlfriend of 3 years who'd practically lost her mind looking for him. He dropped a full-ride scholarship to WU and got all close with the tribe elders. Now it's like he's collecting strays for some type of gang or something with Jared first, then Paul."
"I can promise it's not a gang, Jacob. He's a really good man. Like one of the best. Jared and Paul aren't strays, they're more like brothers to him. Really Jake, you'll understand one day, just don't hate him so much. He's very… important to me. I still want to be your best friend though." I told him and he nodded, still not looking at me.
He showed me the rabbit and we talked for a few more minutes before Sam and Billy came back outside. Sam sought me out immediately and wrapped his arm around my waist, pressing a kiss to the side of my hair. Jacob snorted at the interaction and shook his head before turning back to his own things.
"Ready to go, Bella?" Sam asked and I nodded, waving bye to Jake and Billy before climbing back in my truck.
"I take it that Jacob didn't take it very well?" Sam asked and I shook my head.
"I didn't expect him to. He thinks you're running a gang, recruiting strays. I don't want- Sam, I don't want him to hate you. He was-is my best friend, and both of you will be in my life forever. Edward didn't like that Jake was my friend, he forbid me from seeing him, forbid me from coming to La Push." I told him, lowering my head as I did, stopping in Sam's driveway.
Sam reached over and lifted my chin, forcing me to look him in the eyes. "Bella, I would never forbid you from doing anything. I won't ask you to stay away from Jacob. He was your friend long before I came into the picture. I'm not here to control you, at all. I may be the alpha, but I'm not your alpha. If anything, you have full control over me, hands down, so technically that would make you the alpha of the pack."
I smiled at Sam, my gratitude shining brightly. "You're wrong, you know." I whispered.
"About which part?" he asked quickly, confused.
"You are my alpha. Simply because you're mine. Also, we are equals, Sam. I'll never order you around or try to control you. I want you to know that if I ask you something, you always have a choice to agree or disagree. Equal, 100 percent. Got it?"
He leaned over and kissed me soundly on the lips. "Crystal clear, honey."
"What did Billy say about the imprint and about Leah?" I asked, remembering what we'd gone there for.
"He had a feeling the imprint would happen, and he was very pleased. He said that he'd inform the other elders. I told him about Leah and he seemed quite shocked, but agreed to talk to Harry about getting her to go away to college if you took over the position at Sue's clinic." Sam told me as we continued to sit in the driveway. "Let's get inside, honey."
I got out of the truck and walked right inside, feeling at home immediately. I took off my shoes and walked directly into the bedroom, flinging myself on Sam's bed with a happy sigh. I heard him laugh and looked over to where he was standing, leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed, looking at me with a happy expression.
"What? I thought you said we were going to take a nap?" I asked, wondering why he was acting strange.
"We are, honey, I was just admiring how you're already so at home here. You walked in like you own the place." He said with a smirk and I felt my cheeks redden.
"I'm sorry- I didn't-"
"Do NOT apologize, Bella. I loved every second of it. It makes myself and my wolf very happy to know that you're so comfortable in my home. I told you what's mine is yours and I was serious. You are my life now. One day, I hope you'll consider moving in with me, whether here or somewhere else a little bigger." Sam said as he moved fluidly over to the bed where I was laying and slid in right beside me, kissing me in the process.
"You already know how I'm going to answer that. I would right now if it weren't for school, but as soon as I'm graduated…" I murmured against his skin.
"So that's a minimum of 3 months, maximum of 9 months. You better be able to graduate in December. I want my mate in my home all the time and I can't say I'm the best at being patient." He growled into my neck and I moaned.
A/N- Even though I wrote it, I find myself being in love with the way Sam and Bella react to each other. Is that pretentious of me? You guys should know that all of this fanfiction writing is just practice for me. I'm writing a novel, and the reviews you guys give help me know what audiences like. What do you guys like the best?
