CHAPTER 7

-Shouta & Hizashi's apartment

Gran Torino entered the apartment with a burst of air, pulling another man in behind him – A muscular goliath of a man in dark blue slacks and a white t-shirt which had the word "Super Size" scrawled in English across the front. A man who stood head and shoulders above Yamada's height of 185cm. He released the blonde giant who rubbed his ear and glared at Torino through the two strands of hair that fell across his forehead, bracketing his eyes. Shouta thought he looked vaguely familiar. Suddenly the reason he looked familiar clicked in Shouta's mind just as Torino introduced the man. Those bright cerulean eyes… This was Kiku's father.

"Yagi Toshinori meet Aizawa Shouta and his husband Yamada Hizashi. You might know them better as the Pro heroes Eraser Head and Present Mic."

Shouta literally saw red. He lunged forward, fist cracking across Yagi's face. "You Bastard!" He raged, growling and hissing as Mic pulled him away. He was too consumed with anger to register the pain in his fist as Hizashi struggled to hold him back, barely managing to avoid tripping over Yuki who had splayed himself out in a patch of sunlight filtering in from the window.

"Easy Shou," Hizashi soothed, stroking a hand through his dark hair in a method he'd long ago invented to defuse Shouta's rare bursts of temper. As the adrenaline drained away, the pain of his broken knuckles registered and he gasped, clutching his hand with his good one. Yagi looked unfazed by the attack, his skin barely registering a bruise although he did lower his eyes to the floor and shift nervously from one foot to the other.

Torino cleared his throat, eyes twinkling with amusement. "He-he, sorry. I probably should have clarified the introduction a little better," the old man snickered. "I'd like you both to meet the real man behind the face of All Might." He gestured to the man beside him who temporarily buffed up into his hero form and gave them a sheepish smile before quickly deflating again. "Apparently this stupid idiot had an affair several years back and given the nature of his power it never occurred to him there was the possibility of passing his quirk on genetically."

Yagi spoke up, voice firm, his burning blue gaze still locked on the floor at his feet. "It wasn't an affair. It was a relationship. Inko and I had been dating for several months. We broke up two days before I left for America. She couldn't handle the fact that I was All Might. She found out by accident when we were on a date and I unthinkingly rushed into danger, changing into my hero persona without even registering the fact that I hadn't told her about it."

Shouta paced over to the cabinet where they kept the first aid kit and passed it to Hizashi with his capture scarf before he settled down on the sofa and silently glared at the man as his husband tended to his injured hand.

"I take it she never told you about the baby?" Hizashi asked. He carefully examined Shouta's hand, rubbing ointment into the bruised and broken skin before wrapping it in gauze.

Yagi shook his head. "I've been out of town tracking the movements of a particular villain for several years. I found out yesterday when I arrived at my office and discovered Torino-sensei waiting for me. It turns out that Sir Nighteye concealed from me a message Inko had sent asking me to contact her as she didn't know how to reach me in America. He was angry that I was going without him and that I'd hooked up with his cousin and didn't pass on the message or the subsequent letter." He took a deep breath, voice laden with a mixture of anger and grief. "I loved Inko. I still do. Had I known about the child nothing in heaven or hell would have prevented me from returning."

Hizashi let loose a relieved sigh as he felt Shouta relax beside him. Now finished with the first aid, he invited their guests to sit while he prepared tea.

After tea had been served, Yagi revealed to the shocked pros the truth behind his quirk and the reason he'd believed he wouldn't have to worry about passing it on to a biological child.

Shouta stared at him in disbelief. It was hard to fathom the idea of a quirk that could be passed to someone who bore no relation to the original holder.

Yamada looked at Yagi quizzically. "If it can only be knowingly passed on to someone via DNA and the desire to pass it on, how the hell did Kiku-shoujo end up with it?"

Yagi laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck with one hand. "I guess an idle wish was stronger than I expected."

Torino's head swiveled toward Yagi with a glare that had all three younger men quaking. "Explain." It wasn't a request.

All-Might cleared his throat. "Inko and I got to talking about quirks one night," he wrung his hands nervously. "She mentioned how someday she hoped to pass her quirk onto a future son or daughter. I remember idling thinking how great it would be to have a child who could inherit my quirk." He looked up with a tremulous smile shockingly reminiscent of Kiku's when she was nervous. "I never expected it to happen."

Torino bopped him over the head with his cane. "You idiot. Weren't you using protection?"

"We did. Inko and I had both agreed neither of us were ready for children just yet. We were both quite shocked when we discovered the condom had practically disintegrated." The blonde man admitted, blushing a brilliant scarlet and rubbing at the knot forming on his head.

"Baka! Of course, it broke. One for All decided you were serious in your intent and helped it along. Nana always said she thought that quirk was gaining a form of sentience." Torino scolded his former student, the cup of tea sloshing, forgotten in his hands.

Shouta sighed. "It appears to have mutated somewhere along the way, allowing her body to better adapt to it. Unfortunately, Inko wasn't so lucky."

"What do you mean?" Yagi enquired.

"Whatever type of quirk One for All started out as, in Kiku it has developed as some form of mutation type quirk," Shouta explained

Yagi looked at him blankly and Shouta released an exasperated groan. "Do you understand how my quirk works?" He asked. At Toshinori's nod, he continued. "I can erase Emitter and Transformation type quirks. I can even erase most mental ones that fall into the obscure undefined categories such as Telepathy. This includes erasing enhancement and stockpiling quirks. My limitation is Mutation Quirks. I can't erase any inherent mutation. Given the parameters of my abilities, I should be able to temporarily erase your ability to use your quirk." He met Toshinori's eyes. "I can't erase your daughter's."

Hizashi pulled a file folder from Shouta's desk and handed it to Toshinori who immediately opened it. It was nearly identical to the one he'd received the day before from Daitan-san. "Recovery Girl has done some extensive tests on her over the past six months. From what she was able to deduce, One for All mutated Kiku's genetic code from the moment of conception. She was born with thicker, longer, more durable bones. Tougher skin, thicker muscles and tendons and ligaments that have been reinforced in order to withstand the force of eight generations of One for All. For Kiku, Chiyo has renamed the quirk 'Genetic Stockpile as it was poorly named at the hospital.' Darling Kiku was born twice as long and nearly three times the weight of your standard newborn. The super strength manifested at birth. Inko's body just wasn't built to handle it."

He took a breath before continuing. "After Kiku was discharged from the hospital she was shunted from orphanage to orphanage as her caregivers struggled to handle a child with no control over their power. We are lucky none of the orphanages or foster homes were in league with child trafficking rings. She could have ended up in the hands of one of your enemies, or the HPSC." They all shuddered at that thought.

Toshinori quaked at the thought of All for One getting his hands on a child with his power. The destruction a dark child with One for All could wreak was unfathomable. He shared a glance with Torino and both men sent a prayer to the Shinto spirits thanking them for looking out for his baby girl.

Hizashi placed a hand on Shouta's shoulder. "She and Hitoshi literally ran into Shouta while fleeing from a group of bullies. We were shocked to find out she was only six. We were in the process of completing adoption paperwork for both of them as we had no idea who you were or if you even cared about her."

He handed Recovery Girl's most recent evaluation to Toshinori whose eyes widened as he took in his daughter's statistics. At seven years old she stood 134.62cm tall and weighed 64.8kg. Eight generations of power locked in a tall muscular child, his little girl. Inko's little girl. His heart ached as he gazed on the picture. She was a perfect blend of the two of them. Inko's beautiful face and emerald hair, his eyes and smile. His build. He suspected she would someday be nearly as tall as he was.

"We ran a lot of tests. Kiku broke the sound barrier when she threw a baseball through six inches of concrete and left a three-foot deep hole in the cement floor of the gymnasium. UA is still paying for damages to three different high-rise buildings that were pierced by that ball." Aizawa explained, taking up the conversation as he sipped at his tea.

Toshinori's eyes shot wide and a mouthful of tea sprayed from between his teeth at that news. Holy shit. The folder fell from his fingers, pages scattering across the floor as he contemplated the thought of 100% of One for All wielded by a then six…now seven-year-old child.

Aizawa laughed at him, a sly grin on his normally somber face. "I guess it's lucky for everyone her only dream is to be a hero and save others like her Idol All Might." He teased the blonde man. He had almost completely forgiven him…if it weren't for the dull throbbing of his knuckles.

Toshinori's couldn't hide his pleased grin. "Really? I'm her idol?" Gran Torino cackled at the awe in his voice.

"Without a doubt," Sorahiko chuckled. "She's getting much better at control too. She only really breaks something about once a week now and then only if she's really stressed."

"Except Thunderstorms…and Caffeine" Shouta interjected, sharing a glance with Hizashi. "For some reason she is utterly terrified of thunderstorms. We haven't found an explanation for it yet."

"What's this about Caffeine?" Torino asked, picking up on the look the married couple had exchanged. They hadn't updated him on the most recent developments yet.

"She's allergic to caffeine, but instead of sending her into anaphylactic shock, it acts like an overdose of Trigger for her." Shouta responded with a shudder, remembering the kitchen incident from last week.

"Inko couldn't drink Caffeine either. It messed with her quirk," Toshinori absently replied, still grinning as he picked up a picture of Kiku hugging a smaller purple-haired boy which was displayed on the table at the end of the sofa. "Who's the boy?" he asked, turning it to show them.

"That's Hitoshi, our other foster child. The two kids ended up at the same orphanage just before we found them. They're as close as siblings and practically inseparable. 'Toshi's very dependent upon her, though he is getting better about standing for himself. At the orphanage, she was the only one protecting him from the adults and standing up to the bullies." Hizashi explained.

Even though he loved both children, Hitoshi was his secret favorite, probably because of how much the boy's personality reminded him of Shouta. It was fair though. Shouta was just the opposite. He also loved both children near equally, but Hizashi knew there was something about Kiku that pulled at Shou just a bit more than Hitoshi, though neither man would never admit to having a favorite.

"Why were they targeting him specifically?" Toshinori asked.

"His quirk, primarily. Unfortunately, not everyone understands that any quirk can be used for a heroic purpose. Hitoshi has a brainwashing quirk. From what we have been able to learn, it appears to be response based. The orphanage had him muzzled to prevent him from speaking. Kiku was constantly getting in trouble because she kept breaking it off him whenever she got the chance and was always finding ways to stay close him, even when they attempted to separate the two. Up until recently Hitoshi has been too traumatized to use it. We have a quirk counselor seeing to him. She says he is starting to adjust and eventually he will feel confident enough for us to help him train it." Shouta explained, smiling as he thought about his little boy. Hitoshi often came across as shy or timid, at least until someone messed with his little sister.

-Somei Private Academy, same time…

Hitoshi & Kiku stood nervously at the front of the classroom fidgeting. A tall albino woman whose lower half was that of a spider rapped the pointer stick on her desk. "Quiet down please everyone. I know you are all excited to be back in class after the break, but we have two new students to introduce. She gently guided the nervous duo forward. "Class, I'd like you to meet Shinso Hitoshi, and Midoriya Kiku. Please show them what a friendly class you are." Midoriya and Shinso waved shyly at the rest of the class before moving to the two empty seats across the room from each other.

Hitoshi smiled shyly at the pony-tailed girl in the seat next to him when she greeted him. "Hi, I'm Yaoyorozu Momo. Are you Shinso-san or Midoriya-san? Sensei introduced you so fast I couldn't really tell."

"I am Shinso Hitoshi, pleased to meet you Yaomomo-san," Shinso responded with a small bow.

Momo giggled, "It's Yao-yo-ro-zu, but you can call me Yaomomo if it's easier."

Hitoshi smiled at her, pulling out his pencils and lining them up in a neat row on his desk, aligning the paper so it lay straight in the exact center of the desk. Finally satisfied, he stilled except for one foot he was unconsciously tapping against the leg of his chair.

"Kumonori-sensei, Midoriya doesn't have the right pencils," a tall, skinny blue-haired boy with square glasses raised his hand, "and you shouldn't be fidgeting in class, it's rude." He snapped, pointing at Shinso.

There was an audible 'snap' of broken wood as the side of the desk broke off in Midoriya's hand as the little girl's face flushed with anger. Kumonori sighed; she'd been briefed about Midoriya's quirk and her overprotectiveness towards her foster brother and knew she would have to respond quickly. Iida-kun was a smart student, but he was also a nosy busybody, something she'd been trying to break him of since the start of the school year. "I am fully aware that Midoriya's pencils aren't normal, Iida-kun. She has special permission to use those pencils due to the nature of her quirk. Shinso-kun, please try not to tap your foot, it distracts the other students. Thank you," she praised when his foot stopped moving. She glanced over at Midoriya who was visibly struggling to calm herself. "The trash can is beside my desk, dear, you can deposit that in there. Don't worry about the damage, the janitor will take care of it later."

Iida's eyes widened as the very tall girl carried the broken shard of desk to the garbage can. He could hear her mumbling "Breathe in 1… 2… 3…" as she passed by his desk, shooting him a small glare. Iida looked over at the desk. A large portion of the right corner, about the size of a textbook, had broken off in her hand. She must have some sort of strength-based quirk, he decided, though that didn't explain her sheer size. She was twice as large as every other kid in the class except him, and she still stood a full head taller than he was – she looked closer to middle-school age. He spent the rest of the lesson trying to pay attention to the teacher, but his eyes kept straying to the greenette next to him.

Midoriya-san was focused on the board, mumbling under her breath as she scratched away at her paper with the large steel-clad pencil. The mumbling was annoying, but not overly so. Tenya thought about calling her on it but decided not to. He'd been reprimanded once today already by the teacher; he didn't want any excuse for Kumonori-sensei to call his mother again… Or Tensei.

The class was silent except for the occasional question. Children's eyes flicking over to the newcomers periodically as they listened to the teacher and practiced copying the Kana on the board. Finally, the recess bell rang, and the children cheered. Tenya watched the girl as she carefully placed the pencils into specific pockets of her bag. He was curious why she needed them but was too intimidated at the moment to ask.

Kiku followed the other students out walking carefully and trying not to bump anyone. She could see Hitoshi up ahead waving at her. "Ki-chan, come meet my new friend." The moment she reached him, he pulled her by the hand, dragging her towards a slender black-haired girl in expensive clothing.

"Ki-chan, this is Yaomomo-chan. Yaomomo-chan, this is my sister, Kiku," Hitoshi introduced the two girls. Momo stared up at the new girl, slightly intimidated by the much larger child.

Kiku bowed, "Hi, I'm Midoriya Kiku. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Momo relaxed a little at the introduction and responded in kind. "I'm Yaoyorozu Momo, it's a pleasure to meet you. Are you really our age? You look a lot older." She enquired; curiosity tinged with some unnamed emotion urging her to ask.

"I turned seven in July. My quirk just makes me big," Kiku responded, uncomfortable with the slightly accusatory tone in the other girl's voice.

"Do you want to swing with us?" Yaoyorozu asked, blushing at the implied reprimand and gesturing to a couple of girls who were standing by the door watching them.

"I don't know. I've never been on a swing before. The one at the orphanage was broken before I got there." Kiku smiled brightly at the other girl, trying to be less intimidating.

"The orphanage? What happened to your parents?" Another voice broke in. Kiku and Hitoshi turned to see a small White-haired girl fidgeting behind them.

"Yuki-san, you can't just ask someone that, it's rude!" Iida scolded as he passed by on his way out the door.

Kiku frowned at Iida as she watched the shy girl wilt back into herself. "It's okay, I don't mind the questions. My mama died when I was born, I don't know who my real father is. Hitoshi is my foster brother. We live with our new papas Shouta-san and Hizashi-san."

"Oh," the voice was very quiet, "I'm sorry I intruded."

Hitoshi gave her a friendly smile. "It's ok, we don't mind the questions. I'm Shinso Hitoshi and this is my sister Midoriya Kiku," he bowed politely. "Would you like to come swing with us?"

At her hesitant nod, they set off for the swings, Momo introducing the two girls waiting by the door for them as Tsukino Kagayaki and Anderson Hana. Kagayaki was a short Platinum-blonde girl with violet eyes. Hana was Half-American and spoke fluent Japanese with a slight accent. She was several centimeters taller than Kagayaki and had dark red-blonde hair and silvery-green eyes.

The kids raced for the swings, Kiku arriving long before the others. She watched them cough as they hurried over, choking on the dust kicked up by her sudden burst of speed. "Wow, you're fast as well as strong? That's pretty neat. What's your quirk called?"

"You aren't supposed to use your quirk anywhere except the gymnasium," Iida scolded from the top of the slide before she had a chance to respond.

"He's right, but don't worry about it, I'm sure as long as you don't do it regularly Kumonori-sensei and the other teachers won't scold you," Momo whispered when Kiku's face fell. "Do me a favor and challenge him to a race when we have gym. He's pretty proud of the fact that no one has beat him yet." Yaoyorozu selected a swing and gestured for her new friends to take swings on either side of her. Hitoshi took the one on her right and Kiku the one on her left, the others sorting themselves around the two new students.

"Uh, so how does this work now?" Shinso asked.

Momo smiled at them. "Let me show you. First you kick off like this." She pulled herself back and suddenly scooted further back onto the seat, pushing off the ground as she lifted her feet. Kiku watched Momo and Shinso practice for a few moments before trying it herself.

She pushed off the ground with the full force of her legs, forgetting her strength in her excitement at trying something new. There was a loud CRACK of metal and a sudden snap followed by several loud screams as the swing set broke in half, dumping the other swingers on the ground. The children watched in horror as Kiku was launched into the air at high speed, broken swing falling to the ground behind her as she soared over the school wall.

"KUMONORI-SENSEI! KUMONORI-SENSEI! COME QUICKLY, KI-CHAN NEEDS HELP," Hitoshi pulled himself up and raced toward the group of teachers gathered near the doors of the school, little legs pumping as fast as he could to where the teachers stood frozen in shock, staring at the broken swings. It took the little boy's frantic shouting and the wail of Hana-chan, who had been struck in the forehead by a bar on the swing-set, to snap them into action.

"Kumonori began comforting the scared little boy as one teacher rushed inside calling for the principal while another slender young woman with antennae and butterfly wings flew over the wall searching for where the little girl had fallen. The fourth teacher, Watanabe-sensei rushed toward the broken swing-set to check on the children. His quirk, diagnosis, being the most useful in that regard.

Amai Chōchou, the TA for class 2B stared in surprise at the greenette hovering in the air, clinging to the fifty-foot-tall statue of Crimson Riot which was now tilted ominously to the right. The girl's face was etched with terror, tears raining on the ground below as she wailed at the top of her lungs for her papas.
