Leo just could not believe that his siblings were so oblivious to what happened these past couple of days. Chase, Adam and Bree came laughing through the tunnels. Unlike Donald, who was still banged up and glaring at the kids as he was putting things away, Leo pretended they were not there His siblings were better than being selfish and egotistical, because that was mostly Donald's job. His siblings were blatantly ignoring them, but Leo would have thought they would pay more attention to their cellphones because they were all teenagers. So, Leo believed that if they were going to ignore their calls, then Leo was going to ignore his siblings back. They always responded to any text message or mission alert and Leo could not help but blame Agent Graham and his siblings because they should have known better. Instead, they were going around the world, kissing baby's foreheads and fighting the spotlight whenever they were on TV. Honestly, was fame more important to them than being a hero nowadays. It was as if Leo stepped into an alternate universe where his siblings were worried about their glory instead of focusing on what really mattered.
The bionic siblings were extremely confused as to why they were getting the cold shoulder from their father and especially by their brother; Leo did not need to explain why. Chase had super intelligence. He would have the ability to figure it out for himself as to why their homecoming was not going to be as pleasant as they pictured it. Leo stood by on the sidelines, just eavesdropping on his stepfather's and siblings' conversation. It appeared that Donald felt the same way he had mentioned previously. He voiced on how disappointed he was in the older Davenport siblings and when Chase tried to talk to their dad, Donald shot them down, stalking away. He did not even look Leo in the eyes, probably because Donald was just so angry at them. Leo stepped out from behind his mission desk when Adam, Chase, and Bree were left standing there, stunned at the lecture they were just given. As Leo began limping, Chase was the first to take notice of his brother's swollen ankle. He grabbed Leo by his shoulder before he could go any further
"Hey Leo, what happened to you?" Chase asked. Leo stopped limping and glared at the three Lab Rats.
"Well, thanks to you guys missing the mission, I had to go on it with Big D alone," Leo said. "We barely made a getaway with our lives. Luckily I only sprained my ankle and Douglas fixed it."
Speaking of the devil, Douglas walked right into the lab, where he stopped and watched Leo's argument with his siblings at the mention of his name. Leo could see that his step-uncle was deducting that it appeared Leo was angry with him, but was slowly taking to account that Leo was mad at Adam, Bree and Chase based on the way Leo was shouting even before he entered the room.
"You know what, just forget it..." Leo said. He began limping but unfortunately, he could not go too far because one, he was injured and two, Bree was faster than him.
"Whoa, Leo, Mr. Davenport did not tell us YOU went on the mission," Bree said.
"Yeah, well probably because he did not want you to know and feel guilty about it," Leo snapped.
"So, how did it go?" Adam asked, causing Leo to glare at his oldest brother.
"Terribly Adam, I got a sprained ankle because of it!" Leo snapped. He shook his head.
"Well sorry Leo, but if this is about you getting hurt, we're sorry," Chase said. Leo glared at them again.
"It's not about that! It's what you guys aren't doing that's the problem. I thought I knew you guys like Big D said you used to represent. He said you stood for helping people when they needed it and that saving lives was important to you, like how you have saved mine countless times. Now instead, you're thinking of your own good instead of other people's. Whoever you people are you are not my siblings!" Leo snapped, walking away and going towards the elevator, leaving his siblings in silence.
Douglas couldn't help but think back on what happened on the lab as Leo winced in pain as he lifted his leg again. He was assessing the damage done to Leo's ankle again after not giving him one that morning he came back from the mission with Donald. Douglas suspended all training with him, just as Tasha had wanted when she overheard what had happened. She was not happy to learn that Donald had allowed Leo on a mission they nearly died in. Douglas respected her decision as a mother and to give Donald a break, he decided to look at Leo. Besides, Douglas briefly went to med school and would have made it if he was not scared of needles. Speaking of Leo, Douglas noticed that he was still angry at his siblings over the ordeal. Earlier that day, Douglas had entered the room and assumed Leo was mad at him at first but saw him glaring at Adam, Bree and Chase. The kid must have been shouting at them for missing the missions yet again. He remembered that Leo even snapped at Bree, despite their closeness. This had really surprised him that his nephew was giving his daughter the cold shoulder. He mostly directed his anger at Adam or Chase if they did something stupid. Douglas was the only family member left behind who did not lecture the Lab Rats.
He thought he did not mean to eavesdrop but being well, him, Douglas couldn't help but listen in on their entire conversation. He's reformed but at time, he is still mischievous. However, being angry at your siblings was not a good sign. Douglas should know because he had been angry at Donald for the tiniest reasons. And those tiniest reasons caused them to have a falling out sixteen years ago and have this argument for so long. And he didn't want the same thing to happen to Leo and his siblings. However, his brother and nephew were making valid points. The kids should not forget who they were and they should always remember that saving lives was more important than their own self interests. (He is still mad at Donald for taking Leo and ignoring his advice, but that was a rather different story Douglas did NOT want to dive into.
As Douglas had been trying to help Leo with his designated therapy, he noticed the boy was ignoring him. Douglas just wanted to clear the air between them first before, just for Douglas to clarify he was not angry at Leo for the past couple of days. Guess it was tike to get clean.
"Alright kid, I think we should clear the air here by telling you I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at Donnie for taking you on that mission after I specifically told him not to."
"What? No that …it's not about that," Leo said. "It's about Adam, Bree and Chase."
Douglas nodded in understanding, or at least silently relieved that Leo was mad at his siblings and not at him.
"Why?"
Leo looked in surprise. "What?"
"Why are you mad at them?"
"You know why. They missed the mission, and are forgetting that they are Bionic heroes."
"Of course," Douglas said. "Why should you pay attention to their needs when they don't pay attention to yours?"
"Where are you going with this?"
"I'm just saying," Douglas said. Leo gently took his foot of the couch and put it down as Douglas sat down, "Do you know what I did with all of my anger when your stepdad and I were just kids?"
"Oh, you genetically engineered three kids and wanted to turn them into bionic soldiers. Then years later, after Big D took the kids, you tried to kill us?"
Douglas gave Leo a pointed look. "Well yes, but I'm talking about the aftermath. Donny and I forgave each other but at the cost of sixteen years."
"And since when have you been the advice-giving type?"
"Since I started training you. Look, Leo, don't stay mad at your siblings too long," Douglas said, waving his hand as if he was signaling for someone to get quiet. "It comes no good out of it. When your dad and I were kids, we used to fight all the time. Even invented a robot to beat me up." Leo looked up in confusion. A pained expression was on his uncle's face. "I still HATE that thing! It was cruel as it was calculating. "
"Yes, and the point is," Leo asked, trying to move this conversation along.
"Right, the point is, when the kids see their mistake, the best you could do is forgive them, all right?"
Leo processed the information. Was this really a good advice from Douglas because he got better ones from his mother. However, he could see what his uncle was truly meaning. He wanted to be mad at his siblings for so long but Douglas' advice was actually somewhat helpful.
Perhaps Douglas is right. Perhaps the older siblings will realize how selfish they're being. They have done it before. Whose to say that they won't apologize to each other again in the future. He knew that somewhere, deep down, Adam, Bree and Chase wouldn't forget who they are. He just hoped it would happen sooner but for now, he will just have to wait.
Douglas came upstairs to his room to put his medical things away he used to help Leo. Then he saw Adam, Bree and Chase already waiting for him. The man knew his kids were going to inquire him about their brother. He wasn't mad at them like he was like Donald. Just a little bit disappointed.
"Douglas, how's Leo?" Bree asked.
"He's fine," Douglas answered. "Poor kid is going to be in that ankle cast for two weeks. It could have been worse."
"If it helps, we feel real guilty about it," Adam said.
"Look Douglas, we realized our mistake and Leo was right. We have been ignoring missions," Chase admitted.
"Yes, and why are you telling me this?" Douglas asked, crossing his arms.
"Because, we don't know who to turn to," Bree answered before Adam had chance to say something completely stupid. However, she was too late, because Adam said, "mostly because Mr Davenport is ignoring us." Bree elbowed her brother in the ribs.
"Look, the reason why we have been ignoring missions were because Leo helped us realize what kind of man Graham was," Bree added. "We shouldn't have ignored the mission. Our ignorance and fame is what got our brother to hurt himself. "
"It's not the first time that's happened won't be the last," Adam commented but Bree and Chase rolled their eyes.
"We tried to break off from Graham's rules but he threatened to have us sent to a warehouse, going back on his promises to get us locked up," Chase said. Douglas sighed. What was he going to do? This was the first time his kids came to him for advice instead of Donald. But he wasn't going to let Agent Graham take Adam, Bree and Chase away or come after Leo. He wasn't going to let that Clown tear his family apart
"Alright," Douglas said. "What do you have in mind?"
"Well," Chase answered, "we have a plan in getting rid of Graham once and for all and install Davenport back at the leader. And make it up to our brother."
Douglas smirked. "Alright, what did you kids have in mind?"
"Well the president's in town so, Graham wants everyone, including you, Mr. Davenport and Leo to be there when the President gets here..." Chase begun as Douglas listened closely to his children's plan to restore their family.
Chapter 7. Sorry this was late. So, I gave you two-episode update.
