Chapter 7: The Kids Meet The Kankers
Previously
"Oh boy! oh boy! Here they come Eddy..."Ed said, jumping up and down.
"They who?..." Nazz asked again and Eddy smirked again.
"Did Kevin not tell you?..."Eddy said in a faux-surprised tone.
"Tell us what?..."Johnny asked
He'd ask Plank but he had no idea.
Just what is going on here?
They got their answer a few moments later as everyone was shocked when three girls came up the street. One of them was a red head, another one had blue hair and the last one was blonde, and each one walked over to an Ed and wrapped their arms around them.
"Hey boyfriends..."These girls each said before kissing them on the cheek.
All the while, the children of the cul-de-sac looked on in disbelief.
ESPECIALLY Kevin, who's jaw hit the floor.
There was silence right now as Kevin's was still gawking in disbelief, Johnny looked surprised, Sarah, on the other hand looked looked ready to faint.
Nazz was the least affected and she was still surprised. As for Rolf, he...well...
"What manner of madness has befallen this curved street that we all live upon?!..."Rolf thought in disbelief.
Sure, Rolf was faring better then friend Kevin but still his mind had issues processing this
The rest of the kids, while better than Kevin, were still having trouble accepting this.
"Boyfriend?!..." Jimmy asked while Sarah fainted at the sight of someone kissing her brother.
"Will you look at that, Plank?..."Johnny said, not believing what he is seeing.
Neither are the others, as Rolf even rubbed his eyes to see that he was not imagining things.
"The Ed boys have entered courtship?!..." Rolf asked in disbelief.
They didn't see that coming.
Seriously, none of them saw this coming. Normally, at their age, they would have laughed at this but right now, were too shocked to even do so.
Meanwhile, Eddy grinned before putting his arm around Lee, having the biggest, most smug look ever on his face.
"Kevin, I would like you to meet my girl, Lee. Those are her sisters May and Marie..."Eddy said.
Kevin, on the other hand, just looked he has just been slapped in the face..
The girls, not sensing anything wrong, decided to say hello to, whom they presumed were, their new beau's friends
"Hello..."Lee said, wondering why the boy was looking at them like that.
"Hi!..."May said happily.
"Hey..."Marie said, sending a cool smile.
"Greetings, lady friends of the Ed boys..." Rolf greeted, trying to be polite.
His parents raised him better then having poor manners.
"Hi, I'm Nazz. You guys new here?..."Nazz asked.
"Yup, just moved in..."Lee said, sending a look the other girl.
She's too pretty to hang around her Eddy.
Alone anyways.
"This girl just better remember that Eddy's spoken for!..."The red haired thought in jealousy
As Lee eyed Nazz with suspicion, Kevin looked like his brain was short circuiting, that it almost looked like smoke was coming from his ears.
There was no way that this could be real. There was no way that the Ed's had gotten girlfriends.
There is just no way!
Dorks didn't get girlfriends, that's a fact.
He rubbed his eyes but to his horror, the girls are still there, still acting lovey dovey with the dorks, and even worse, he saw the smug, victorious look on Eddy's face.
"You...you're dating these guys?..."Kevin asked in disbelief.
The Kanker sisters smiled and nodded.
"You better believe it, buster..."Lee said as she sent an adoring look to Eddy, who smiled.
Kevin's brain finally rebooted but still had trouble processing this discovery.
The dorks had girlfriends...and Kevin now realized that he has just lost 20 dollars.
Kevin saw the smug look on Eddy's face get even smugger.
"Now, Shovel-Chin, remember our bet..."Eddy demanded, getting Lee's attention.
"What bet?..." Lee asked.
Kevin froze in fear as Eddy had a sly grin.
"Well, baby, old Kevin here bet twenty bucks that we didn't have such hot babes for girlfriends, but now it seems he need to pay up..."Eddy said those last words with a predatory tone as his eyes narrowed.
The jock was nervous. He didn't want to pay the Ed's anything but a bet was a bet and he can't back out since the other kids were here and watching.
They'll think he's a wimp, just like these dorks! Even worse, his dad was gonna have a cow if he finds out that he just lost that big 20.
What was he going to do?
He couldn't get out of this!
It was a no win situation
Why did he have to invite everyone in the Cul De Sac?
They were supposed to get a good laugh at the dorks, but now everything backfired!.
Even worse, his short rival kept looking so smug right now.
"We're waiting Kevin..." Eddy said, holding out his hand.
Kevin growled but he knew that he had no choice. Angrily pulling out the twenty, Eddy reached for it but Kevin wouldn't let go.
"Hey! Come on and let go!..."Eddy said.
He won fair and square! He ACTUALLY did this time. He EARNED that cash and he wants it now.
Eventually, Kevin reluctantly released the bill dollar and grumbled angrily.
Eddy grinned, admiring his prize
A hot girl like Lee and shovel chins money in his wallet, this is the best day of his life.
Dollar signs filled Eddy's eyes as he held the bill in his hand. It looked even more beautiful up close.
And it was his! All his!
"Hello, Mr. President. We're going to have some fun..."Eddy said, about to kiss the bill when Lee snatched from his hand.
"Yeah, we can have a real romantic date with this bad boy..."Lee said as she held the cash in her hand.
"What?..."Eddy exclaimed.
"That's the reason you did this silly bet, didn't ya? I mean, you didn't forget about little old me...did you?..."Lee asked, though there was some edge in her voice.
Eddy started to sweat nervously.
He wanted to say no but he didn't want to botch things up with Lee, especially after he just managed to ask her out.
Besides, it was Kevin who made the bet. He had nothing bad to feel about this, so why should be punished in any way?
"Oh man, what do I do?!..." The young con artist thought, dismayed.
He is torn now.
On one hand he got that money fair and square, but on the other hand, Lee is hot and he didn't want to get dumped after he finally beat Shovel Chin at something.
This is SO not fair!
This was like a lose lose situation for him. There was no way this wasn't going to bite him in the butt somehow.
"NO FAIR!..."He thought in anger.
Eddy wanted to protest, he wanted to grab all that cold hard cash and keep it for himself but for once, used his head. He might have gotten a girlfriend just yesterday, even he knew that it was not a good idea to argue with your girlfriend while on a date..
So, REALLY reluctantly, the short boy backed down. As much as he loves cash, he wasn't going to mess things up with Lee, especially after what happened with Kevin.
"Uh...yeah...sure..."Eddy said, but his friends knew just how painful this must be for him.
Lee, on the other hand, squealed.
"Awesome, there is this movie I have been dying to see..."Lee said as she hugged her man.
All the while, the young con artist was torn on the inside.
On the one hand, Lee is happy but on the other hand...
"My winnings!..."He internally wailed.
Eddy sighed. It hurt to give up that 20 but he didn't want to make Lee unhappy...even if it was for cash
Besides, the look on Kevin's face when he forked over that twenty was going to be something Eddy wouldn't forget for a LONG, LONG TIME.
It'd be something to tell his grandkids one of these days.
His friends just smiled, before turning to their own girlfriends.
"Anyway, now that that has been resolved, I do believe that...it is time to go to our dates..."Edd said and Marie giggled.
"Lead the way, Over Mitt..."Marie said as she placed her arm around his.
"As you wish, my dear..."Edd said in a gallant tone to her as he lead her away.
Double D had a notary on their first date in his pockets. The two walked away as the boy dictated tonight's routine.
Ed and May also left to go to his house for their date, both with matching dumb grins on their faces, the big lug made a promise to his sponge collection he would show them the first girlfriend he would have. Plus the idea of watching TV together sounded like a plan.
And lastly, Lee and Eddy soon left, with Lee holding onto the cash for a very special date.
"I was thinking that we can go see a movie with this big twenty, with the EXTRA large popcorn and those bon bons I like..."Lee said as she made the very COSTLY plans.
On the outside, Eddy is smiling. On the inside, he is counting every cent he was going to lose and how many jaw breakers he wasn't going to eat.
"Twenty bucks, gone!..."Eddy thought, knowing he'd never see that kind of money again
Not for a long time, not unless he comes up with a scam that could actually work or actually GET a job, which he won't be able to do until he is 14, which is another 2 years away!
Yep, this was really a lose-lose situation.
However, he saw Lee smiling as she held his hand and suddenly, Eddy didn't care as much.
Oh sure, he still cared about the money but not as much.
Once again, he is greedy but his girl was happy and he wanted that just as much.
"Man, the things I do for love!..."Eddy thought as they left for their date.
All the while, Rolf had a strange look on his face as he watched these three boys leave with their new girlfriends.
But to him, something seemed very, very wrong.
"Rolf senses a disturbance.."The son of a Shepard said.
"Tell me about it, I just lost 20 big ones! What am I going to tell my dad?!..."Kevin groaned.
"You shouldn't have place a bet in the first place, Kevin..."Nazz nagged him..."Honestly, what were you expecting to happen?..." The pretty blonde asked.
"The dorks do not have girlfriends!..." Kevin said.
"They kinda do, we just saw them..." Nazz said
She was kind of surprised to be honest. It's not that she didn't think the Ed's could get girlfriends even though she didn't like him that way. But hey, the girls seem nice, even if they had questionable fashion taste but hey, they seem happy..
Good for the Ed's
Still, it was kind of shocking that all three of them got girlfriends at once
What were the odds of that happening?
She'd ask Double D, but he was occupied and wouldn't want to be interrupted.
Kevin, however, was still refusing to believe this whole thing.
"Something isn't right here, there is just no way that those dorks got girlfriends..."Kevin said.
Not before he did, anyway.
He wasn't the only one who was wary about this whole development
His farming friend, Rolf, had sense something strange earlier and again, just now. He saw the three couples seperate but still felt suspicious.
"Rolf sensed something off about the Ed boys..."Rolf said in a wary tone.
Something that eluded him, and it had nothing to do with Kevin's lost funds
Something strange was happening here.
Something unusual about the Ed boys and their mysterious courtship.
But what?
