Chapter 8 - Forever Starts Today

Welcome to the final chapter of "It's Not Your Fault", it has been a pleasure to write this and share it with you.
The chapter title comes from the amazing Tim Halperin song 'Forever Starts Today' which you will probably recognise as the song that was playing during the final Densi proposal in the finale of NCIS LA season 8.

Third person POV
"Are you sure Kensi?" Deeks asks as he carries his suitcase into her room. "Deeks… Marty, I know it's tradition but I don't want to leave you and we don't need luck when we have each other." Deeks nods as he takes off his shirt "Yeah you're right, I just want it to be perfect for you." Kensi smiles "You'll be there, that makes it perfect. Now give me your shirt!" Deeks throws it at her "Why?" He questions "I need to sleep in something Deeks!"
Deeks wakes up to light flooding through their window along with a beautiful salty sea breeze and the girl of his dreams wrapped around him. Part of him wants to leave so he can surprise her with doughnuts but he can't bear to leave her for a second.
Kensi wakes up with Deeks' arms protectively wrapped around her. She turns carefully in his embrace to find him awake and looking happily at her "How long have you been staring?" She asks, more than a little amused and endeared, "Long enough." He replies giving her a kiss, Kensi raises her eyebrow "Maybe 10… 15… more like 30 minutes." Deeks says a little sheepishly.
Their bubble of morning happiness is broken by a knock on the door. "Time to wake up!" Comes Nell's voice shouting through the door. Deeks grabs a pair of sweats from the floor and pulls them on before opening the door, shirtless, to Nell. "Yes?" He asks, not very happy that he has been torn away from Kensi.
Nell pushes past him "Come on Kensi! Time to get ready!" She says standing in front of the bed "But it's not even 10 am yet." Kensi groans "You have half an hour." Nell says as she walks out of the hotel room. Deeks flops onto the bed, "I don't want you to go." He says stroking her hair. "I'll never leave again." She reassures him before pulling the duvet away and getting up.

Third Person POV
"Are you nervous?" Sam asks Deeks from his position next to the groom as Best Man. "No…" Deeks searches his feelings for a moment before continuing "I'm just excited for the future. I mean, come on, she's the love of my life!" Hetty comes up the small stairs on the platform to stand in the centre. "Seriously Hetty! When did you get ordained in Australia?" Deeks asks still confused. "1998 was a fun year Mr Deeks." She replies somewhat cryptically but Deeks shrugs it off; right now he doesn't care about anyone but Kensi.
A soft violin plays over the speaker, it was Deeks' own composition just for Kensi, as Nell and Eric start to walk slowly down the 'aisle' of white silk and red rose petals. Eric and Nell are followed by Callen who has Monty's leash in his hand. Monty's tail wags happily as he walks up the aisle with 2 rings fastened to his collar. Closely following behind comes Julia with her arm linked with the woman Deeks has been waiting his entire life for, Kensi Marie Blye.

Deeks POV
She's right there, everything I ever wanted and everything I'll ever need, right there in front of me.
Books they tell you tragic love stories, easy love stories and a million other kinds but this is pure, this isn't tragic, it's not been easy, it's not perfect but love isn't meant to be, this right here and right now is a pure love story. It's a love story, it's a love story that has never been seen before, it's a love story that will last forever but none of that matters, all that matter is that it is ours - Kensi and Deeks, Deeks and Kensi - our love story.
Barefoot, like me, she kisses her mother's cheek and I shake Julia's hand softly and give her a quick kiss on the cheek. "I will always look after her." I promise the love of my life's mother. "I know you will, never been more sure of anything else, Marty." She tells me.

Kensi POV
He's right there, everything I ever wanted and everything I'll ever need, right there in front of me.
It's been a long journey to get here and I can only blame myself but now as I walk up this 'aisle' on the beach towards the man of my dreams, it's all worth it. I realise now that we needed it, we needed to fight this to find out how much it means to us so we would never want to let it go so that our love story never ends.
He holds his hand out for me so I can step easily onto the little wooden platform. The warmth, the comfort, the confidence, the love, that hand gives me alone reminds me why I love him, why I want him and why I need him. I've always been scared of needing someone after my dad and it got worse after Jack but this feeling of need is comforting, it reminds me that I'm not just a federal agent, I'm Kensi, Kens, Kensalina, Fern! And at the end of the day, that's what I want to be; his Kensi, not their federal agent.
My mom kisses my cheek and leaves me standing with Deeks - Marty - my man, my fiancé and my husband in a few minutes.
"You look beautiful Kens." He whispers to me, I feel the blush on my cheeks and I know he's smiling because of it. I want to make a joke at how he cleans up well but the only words that leave my mouth are "I love you, Marty." He gives me a quick kiss "Always and forever Fern." before nodding to Hetty for her to begin.
Third person POV
"We are gathered here today as a team and a family to bring together Kensi Marie Blye and Martin Andrew Deeks," Hetty says. "While I have to ask, I do wish to make clear that anyone who objects to this union will be hunted down to the ends of the earth by the revered Hetty Lange, with this in mind I ask that if anyone has any objection to this union then please speak now." Everyone shakes their heads and chuckles at the threat made by their boss.
"We now will hear the words Kensi and Marty wish to share with each other."

Kensi POV
I am so caught up in his eyes that I don't hear Hetty at all, it's just him, him and me, how it's supposed to be.
"Kens," his soft voice pulls me out of my happy daydream "I love you, I always have and I always will. You are my home, my safe place, my escape, my everything. Your smile, your laugh… everything" A tear falls from my eyes at the reminder of the words he spoke to me in OSP, what feels like, a lifetime ago. "has gotten me through everything and I know that you and I together can face anything that this world can throw or, in some cases, shoot our way. Our jobs, they're not easy but at the end of the day knowing I can come home with you, to you, for you, makes every hardship worth it." He's right, together we can face anything and everything.
"So Kensi, Kens, Kensalina, Princess, Bad-ass Blye, My Sweet, Fern will you marry me now and make me your partner in every sense of the word?"
This man is the man I will never let go and I know he won't let me push him away, not again, I will always be safe in his embrace. "Always" I whisper softly as I rest my forehead on his.

Deeks POV
Her head pulls away and I look down into her mismatched eyes. "Deeks - Marty - I love you, I love how you can love me, that through everything you never lose faith in me and that you trust me with everything." I nod lovingly, taking her hands in mine. "I never wanted to need someone after my father and I never wanted anyone after Jack but you walked in with your smile and your hair and changed my mind. You broke down every wall in the way of my heart and you made me want someone again, you made me need someone again and a few years ago that would've scared me but now I am so glad that I need you and that you let me want you and have you."
She chokes a little as she goes to continue, I pull her against my chest and kiss the top of her head, we stand there for a moment before she pulls away and continues. "You are my everything and I hope to be yours, forever and always."
"So Marty Deeks, will you marry me now and make me your partner in every sense of the word?"
I brush my own tears away, looking into her eyes, the place where I find everything I need looking back at me. "Always" I reply, pressing my forehead against hers.
Third Person POV
Monty runs up towards the couple and Deeks bends down to take the rings from his collar. It is not lost on Kensi that this is the first time he has seen the wedding rings that will physically show their union. "Do you like them?" She asks nervously, looking at the two titanium rings with blue and white diamonds set inside of the band. "There is nothing on this earth that I would want to wear every day for the rest of my life more than this." He whispers, placing his ring in her hand.
Deeks takes her hand gently in his and slips the ring over her finger as he promises his life, his future, to be their life, their future. "I will always love you, I will never leave you nor will I ever let you go, so with this ring I give myself to you always as Martin Andrew Blye-Deeks."
Kensi wipes a few tears from her eyes before taking his hand in hers "I, Kensi Marie Blye, give myself to you to become Kensi Marie Blye-Deeks, and with this ring I promise to never want nor need to be anything else but yours. I will never be able to leave you and I will never be able to shake my love for you but I don't want to. I will be yours fully today and forever." She slips the perfect ring onto his finger, looking into the blue eyes that are her home.

"I present to you now, with great honour, Kensi Marie Blye-Deeks and Martian Andrew Blye-Deeks." Slowly Deeks takes Kensi's face in between his palms "I love you" He whispers, his head pressed against hers, looking down into her eyes. "I won't love you if you don't kiss me." She whispers biting her lip. Grinning at his bride he touches his lips to hers and in that moment it's just them, no team, no waves, no air, just Kensi and Marty, how it should be, forever.
They are brought back to reality by the cheers of their unconventional family, Deeks swings Kensi around before pulling her into a bridal-style lift. "Don't drop me." Kensi warns. "I would never let you fall Fern."

THE RING: To see the wedding rings, search "His and Hers Matching Titanium Blue Sapphire Wedding Couple Rings Set". It has alternating clear and blue diamonds around the band.
The first song used in this chapter was "Still Falling For You" by Ellie Goulding. I listened to this song on repeat to inspire me into finishing the wedding which I spent forever trying to make perfect.
The next 2 songs are, coincidently, called "With You". The first was by Tim Halperin (whose song 'Forever Starts Today' (which was also the name of the EP both 'With You' and 'Forever Starts Today' are featured on) was used in the successful Densi proposal at the end of season 8 of NCIS LA) who is an amazing singer. The second was by the awesome Keith Urban off of his 2020 album called "The Speed of Now Part 1", I love this album, artist and song and the lyrics really fitted well in this chapter.
The next song I used was "I Get To Love You" by Ruelle. Ruelle also sung the main inspiration song for this entire story called "Carry You". You may recognise "I Get To Love You" from the Malec wedding in Shadowhunters which was just beautiful.
Next I used "In Bratele Tale" by Trupa Zero which is Romanian but I gave you guys the English translation in the chapter (sorry if there are any mistakes in the chapter), the real lines are: "Zi de zi iar ne îndrăgostim / Strange-ma in bratele tale / Ca si cum ar fi ultima zi / Ca si cum de maine n-ar fi soare / Și lumea-întreaga s-ar opri / Iti dau inima, sunt al tau, sunt a ta / Strange-ma in bratele tale". I love this song, it's just beautiful!
The final song, "Night After Night" is actually one of my most favourite Romanian songs called "Seară de Seară" by Carla's Dreams. The actual song is sung in Romanian (again apologies for the translation if it's incorrect but this is the original I do believe: "Stii cand stelele in ochi se aprind / Și nu mai simt nici ploi nici vant / Stii, e caldura ta / In inima mea"
