Chapter 9: The Search For Anna

It was a couple hours after everyone went to bed and everyone in the castle was asleep except for Elsa. She was still up practicing her magic. Even after the events of when she entered the world again, she could still feel her power getting stronger and is always willing to see what else she can do. She was practicing making snowflakes, snowballs, and freezing and unfreezing things and it all seemed to be going well. She really learned to control her powers after the Great Thaw and became really happy with what she didn't feel like she was able to control before. Also, she felt free as far as the fear part ever since her run in with Scarecrow on Halloween. And she was especially happy that she was with her kingdom and her sister again like she was when she was a little girl and had even more friends and a wonderful boyfriend. She looked at the clock and immediately stopped practicing her magic once she saw that it was really getting late. She was just about to put on her nightgown when she noticed on her dressing table that she still had Anna's hairbrush from when she asked to borrow it about a week ago. She figured that she'll quietly slip that back into Anna's room before she goes to bed. She went down the hall to Anna's room and very quietly creaked open the door so she wouldn't wake her up. The room was dark for the most part, but the moonlight still shone brightly on Anna's bed. Elsa quickly put the hairbrush on Anna's dressing table. She turned around and saw that her sister had her covers completely over her. Elsa slightly chuckled at the thought of her sister practically mummifying herself while she slept. She went over to Anna's bedside and whispered, "Anna, you realize you have yourself completely covered?". Anna said nothing at all and stayed there motionless and still. "Here. Let me at least take them off of your face.", Elsa said as she pulled the covers down slightly. She then stopped and gasped in shock when she saw that it wasn't Anna under the covers, but just a car crash dummy. Elsa then began to panic and started saying around the room, "Anna?! Anna?!". But no answer was given after how many time Elsa called her name. Elsa then left the room and started to shout into the hallway, "Everyone, get up! Get up now! Anna's missing! Come in here!". Elsa's shouting woke up Jacob, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf, Kai, and Gerda and they all went to Anna's room. Once they all got into Anna's room, Gerda said, "Queen Elsa, what's wrong? What do you mean Anna's missing?. "I mean she's missing. I thought that was her under the covers, but it was just that dummy right there and she's not anywhere else in the room.", Elsa explained sounding very scared. Jacob and Olaf went over to examine the dummy that was in Anna' bed. "Do you think it's possible maybe she just left to go out for a breath of fresh air?", asked Sven. "No, Sven. I got a bad feeling. I'm pretty sure she was kidnapped.", Elsa said. "Kidnapped?! By who?!", asked Kristoff who sounded just as scared as Elsa. "Why on Earth would anyone want to kidnap Princess Anna?", asked Kai. "I don't know, Kai. But we have got to find her! I have a very bad feeling that she's in danger!", Elsa said. Meanwhile, Olaf and Jacob were still examining the dummy seeing if there might be any clue on it. Jacob had learned some of this detective stuff from Bruce. Olaf was looking over his shoulder eagerly. "You find anything, Jake?", the snowman asked. "Nothing out of the ordinary. Wait! What's this?", Jacob said once he noticed a note attached to the dummy. "Hey, Elsa! Jake found a note on this dummy.", Olaf eagerly said. "What does it say?", Elsa asked Jacob. Jacob then began to read aloud what it said on the note. "I am a place that dwells in darkness, where lots of people don't know where they are at. However there is a beacon of light often shown in the sky, but that light takes the shape of a bat. What am I?", Jacob said as he read what the note said. "What the hell does that mean exactly?", Kristoff asked. "It's a riddle. A city that dwells in darkness, but a beacon of light that takes the shape of a bat is often shown in the sky. In other words, it's talking about the Bat Signal. The answer is Gotham.", Jacob deduced. "So, I take it, whoever took Anna is in Gotham with her with them.", he said. "But who in Gotham would want to kidnap Anna?", asked Sven. Elsa thought for a second and then it all of a sudden came to her of exactly who from Gotham would want to kidnap her sister. "I know who.", Elsa said while sounding slightly angry. "You do? Who?", asked Olaf. "Scarecrow!", Elsa said. "What?", asked Kristoff. "Think about it. Who else from Gotham would have it in for us? He obviously kidnapped Anna so he could get his revenge on us from Halloween. Jacob then cut in and said, "But it can't be Scarecrow. He's been locked up in Arkham's maximum security wing ever since that night. And from what Bruce tells me, he's still a little messed up from when we gave him a dose of his own toxin.". "Well, maybe he was just pretending to still act weird from that and he somehow found a way to escape. And he does know how to use those crystals. So, I think it's pretty obvious.", Elsa suggested. "Well either way, we should definitely head to Gotham to look for her.", said Sven. "Agreed. We'll be back, guys.", Elsa told her servants. "Okay. I hope you find her and that you bring her home safely.", Gerda said sounding very concerned for the missing princess. "And that's the plan, Gerda!", Kristoff said. "Yay! Another adventure in Gotham!", Olaf cheerfully. Jacob just slightly chuckled. Olaf always knew how to make the most dire situations somewhat cheerful. Jacob then pulled a crystal from his pocket and then whispered, "Gotham City.", into it and then threw it on the floor. A big portal opened up and Elsa, Jacob, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf jumped through it. Within a few seconds, they were in Gotham where it was lightly snowing. "So, where exactly should we start, Jake? You've been becoming quite the detective with Bruce's help.", Sven asked Jacob. "Well, a part of the riddle talked about the Bat Signal, so let's go to GCPD and summon Batman using the Bat Signal. He'll help us find Anna. And Gordon and his cops should be cool with letting us walk through the precinct and using the signal. He considers almost any ally of Batman's a friend of his. Especially he did seem to gain our trust on the night we put Scarecrow away.", Jacob explained. "Well, then let's go! Anna and the rest of you guys stopped at nothing to find me when I went missing and was in danger twice now on our adventures. And I'm not just gonna stand by without doing the same for her while she's missing and possibly in danger! Let's do this!", Elsa said sounding very determined to find her missing sister. They then headed towards the GCPD. After a little while, they got there and they were stopped by a cop. "Can we help you?", asked the cop. "We need to speak to Commissioner Gordon.", said Jacob. Commissioner Gordon saw the 5 people that he recognized and then said, "It's alright, Fernandez. Let them in." The cop moved aside and did what his boss told him to do. The 5 friends went inside the department towards the commissioner. "Nice to see you guys again.", Gordon said as he shook Jacob's hand. "Say, Jacob. I wanted to say nice job on helping Batman bring in Two-Face the other week.", Gordon complimented Jacob. "Thanks, Commissioner. But we were wondering if we could use the Bat Signal real quick. It's urgent!", Jacob insisted. "What for?", Gordon asked. He then looked around and saw that one member of the group was missing from when he remembered them being together on Halloween night. "Where's the other girl at?", asked the commissioner. "That's why we want to use the Bat Signal. Anna's been kidnapped. And we believe that whoever has her is here in the city. And we're gonna need Batman's help to find her.", Kristoff said. "Oh, God! Sure. You can use it.", Gordon said. "Thanks, Commissioner!", Olaf said. Gordon was still a little freaked out by Olaf, but he still was polite by saying, "You're welcome. Hope you find her and that she's okay.". "Thanks.", said Jacob. The 5 then went up to the rooftop and started moving towards the signal. Jacob then turned it on and then a bright light was shown in the sky with Batman's symbol in the center of the light. "Now we wait for him to come.", Jacob told the others. Fortunately, not too far away, Batman was just looking over the city after taking care of an arms deal gone wrong between crime bosses Falcone and Thorne. He then stopped looking down on the city and then began to look up once he saw his signal in the sky. Batman was curious about why he was being called, but no doubt it was something important. So he took off towards the GCPD to answer the call. Batman then arrived on the rooftop and looked around for Gordon. "Jim? Are you there?", Batman asked to see if Gordon would answer. "He's downstairs. We sent the signal.", said Elsa. Batman then turned around and saw the Arendelle crew. "Hey, guys. What's wrong? Why did you send the signal?", Batman asked them. "Anna's missing and we think she's been kidnapped.", Jacob explained. "Why would you think she was kidnapped?", asked Batman. "Well, there was a dummy that was being covered up in her bed a while after I thought she went to bed. And there was a note with a riddle on it that pointed to Gotham. So, we believe that she's here in the city and that she's in danger.", Elsa explained. "Elsa suggested that Scarecrow escaped and kidnapped her to get revenge, but I said that he's still locked up in the asylum.", Jacob said. "No. It's definitely not him. He's been kept under intense watch ever since you guys brought him in.", Batman said. "Okay, well I guess that clears that theory up.", Elsa said. "Can I see this note?", asked Batman. "Sure. I have it right here.", said Jacob as he took the note and handed it to Bruce. Bruce then looked over the note and said. "I can run a scan of fingerprints on this and see who else touched it besides you. But don't worry, I'll help you guys find Anna.". "Thanks, Bruce. We really appreciate it.", said Kristoff. Batman then got a beeping on his gauntlet and answered it to see that it was Alfred calling. "Well done on thwarting that arms deal sir. The news sure does travel fast.", said Alfred. "Thanks, Alfred. But I now have another issue. Anna's been kidnapped and we believe whoever has her is here in Gotham.", Batman explained. Alfred than looked worried and said, "Oh, dear. I sure do hope you find her, Master Bruce.", said Alfred. Then all of a sudden, a voice that sounded easy recognizable to both Batman and his butler came over the speakers in the city. "Why don't you take a rest from stopping ridiculous arms deals and the rest of those imbecilic villains! It's time once agin to face your one true nemesis, Batman!", said the voice. "Oh, dear. Is that who I think it is?", said Alfred sounding concerned. "Nygma! I'll get back to you, Alfred. Let me see what he wants.", Batman said as he and Alfred got off the communications linked to his gauntlet. Batman and the Frozen Cast looked towards an electronic billboard and saw that it was The Riddler who was talking. "Who's that?", Elsa asked Jacob. "That's the guy I was telling you about yesterday. That's the Riddler.", Jacob told her. "That's the guy who leaves those weird trophies and riddles?", Elsa sked. "That's him.", Jacob told her. "Riddle me this! Why would the World's Greatest Detective visit an abandoned orphanage?", Riddler asked Batman. Then the camera switched to Catwoman being both blindfolded and strapped to a chair which made Batman very angry. "Eddie, sweetie. You've confused me with Robin. The big guy and I aren't all that close.", Catwoman said. The Frozen Cast had know idea who that lady was which made Elsa ask Jacob, "And who's that?". "That's Selina Kyle, but she's more commonly known as Catwoman. She's a professional thief and as well is an on and off lover of Batman's.", Jacob explained. "Ah!", Elsa said now understanding who that lady in the cat suit was. "Oh, I know! It's because of what will happen to his feline friend if he doesn't get her in time!", said Nygma. "Shocked, Dark Knight? Stunned? You didn't expect this, did you?", Riddler smugly asked. "That is because you are no match for me! Edward Nygma, The Riddler, and your intellectual superior! Did you think I would just forget our last meeting, Dark Knight? You HUMILIATED me! I know you will not beat me this time. It is utterly impossible! You can't do it! I've won already! I will mock your attempts to solve my conundrums. I will stand over your bloodied corpse. And as the dim light fades for good in your tiny dullard mind, your final thought will be how I have beaten you.", said Nygma. "How many times do we have to do this, Nygma? When will you get over this obsession with besting me?", Batman asked Riddler. "As long as it takes, but tonight will be the last time because you'll be dead by the end of tonight!", Riddler threatened Batman. Riddler then looked over and saw that the other people he wanted were in place too. Just as he had brilliantly planned. "And I see you're not alone. You've brought your friends from Halloween with you. Good!", he said. Batman and the Frozen Crew seemed surprised to hear Riddler sounding pleased that they were here too. "You two, the one in the green sweater and the one with the ice powers, please come forward.", Riddler instructed. Jacob and Elsa looked at each other confused for a second and then did as Riddler told them to do and walked forward now in front of Batman. "Yeah? We're here.", said Elsa. "I must say what an honor it is to finally meet the two of you. All of Gotham has been talking about you for quite some time. I'm glad you and your friends are here too. I want you all to solve my riddles with Batman.", he said. "Thanks for the invitation, Riddler. But we've got something more important to be doing.", said Jacob. "Oh, I'm sure. I would imagine you're busy looking for your sister.", said Riddler rather smugly. The heroes all seem to look at each other in shock once he said that. How did he know that they were looking for Anna? "How did you know that?", Elsa asked. "Well, Your Majesty, as you can see Catwoman is not alone in the room.", Nygma said. The camera then began to turn and show that right behind Catwoman, Anna was tied to a chair and blindfolded too. "Hey. What's going on now? What's happening?", Anna asked. "I think Eddie's recording us is what's going on.", Catwoman told her. "Well, if my boyfriend or sister is seeing this, please come and get me out of here.", said Anna. They were all in shock once they saw this. "Anna?!", Kristoff said in shock. Jacob's shock then slowly turned into rage and then he said, "You son of a bitch!". "Correction: I'm a genius! A genius that will kill your sister without hesitation if you don't participate in my game!", threatened Nygma. "Why did you kidnap her?! Neither she nor us have ever done you any harm!", Elsa angrily said to Riddler. "No, but you are considered to be allies of Batman right there and anyone who is an ally of his, I consider to be my enemy! Also, I saw your friend right there holding one of my trophies. So, you must have at least some basic intelligence if you were able to solve one of my riddles and earn one of my trophies.", Riddler explained. "I just thought it would be fun to try it out! If you want the damn thing back, you can have it! Just let Anna go, you sick evil bastard!", Jacob demanded. "Oh, it's too late for that. And I was also curious how someone with abilities like yours would do against my conundrums.", he said. "You're insane!", Elsa said. "Again, I'm not insane. I'm brilliant! But my main focus is that of Batman. You can thank him overall for the current predicament that both of these lovely ladies are in. Come to the orphanage, Detective! Or they both die!", Riddler said menacingly. He then went off the screen and the screen was replaced with a big question mark. All 6 of them were furious with Nygma for kidnapping both of them. "Well, at least we know who has her.", said Sven. "Yeah, but we have to play this game or he's gonna do terrible things to them both.", Olaf said sounding scared. Batman bent down and put his hand on Olaf's snow shoulder and said, "Don't worry. We're gonna rescue Anna and Catwoman so that they won't be in danger anymore.". Olaf then slightly smiled after what Batman had said. Batman then stood up looked over at Elsa and said, "And that goes for you too, Elsa. We're going to save your sister and I'm going to put Nygma back in Arkham where him and his sick mind belong.", Batman said. Jacob put his hand on his girlfriend's shoulder and said, "He's right. We will. It'll all be okay.". Elsa then smiled at her boyfriend and gained confidence. "Alright. He said come to an orphanage. Where's that?", Elsa asked Batman. "He's talking about the old Cyrus Pinkney Orphanage. It's been abandoned for years now. That's where they are. Let's go!", Batman said. The heroes then took off towards the orphanage to save both women before Riddler kills them.
