Elena's POV: (Opening thoughts)
Okay am I really doing this? I know I want to see Edward again but am I really gonna ride a motorcycle and am I really dragging both Bella and Jacob into this. Is it worth it... I hate that the answer is yes.
The three of us are now squashed into the truck with the three motorcycles on the back. I glance at both Jacob and Bella.
"If I told you I couldn't have fixed these bikes, what would you have said?" Jake asks both of us.
"I would have said smart move," Bella says and he laughs and so do I.
"Are you doubting your mad skills?" I ask him glancing quickly at him.
"No," he says and Bella smiles. "Definitely not, I mean they'll run fine. It's just uh... maybe if I was smart I would have dragged out the rebuild a bit."
"Yeah you need to smarten up!" Bella says smacking him on the arm and they both laugh again.
"Well if you told me you couldn't fix these bikes I would say thats really too bad," I say and I know its the truth. "But that we're just gonna have to find something else to do."
They both nod and laugh.
"Is that Sam Uley?" Bella suddenly asks and we look at the cliffs where a bunch of guys are.
"Yeah," Jake says but he seems a little uncomfortable suddenly. "Him and the cult he's apart of."
Suddenly Sam and his group push one of the others off of the cliff. I slam on the breaks in shock. "Oh my god! Did you see that?"
I race towards the edge. But Jake and Bella come running up behind me. They are both laughing.
"They're not really fighting Elena," Jake tells me as he and Bella stand there smiling. "They're cliff diving. Scary as hell but a total rush."
As he finishes another one jumps off of the cliffs making a noise as he goes down. I shouldn't be thinking this but this is another way for me to see Edward,
"A rush?" I ask them both.
"Most of us jump from lower down," Jake tells us but as I glance at the people their I feel a sense of familiarity. "We leave the showing off to Sam, D- and his disciples."
When he hesitates I look back and realise who else is on the cliff. "Is that Damon?"
"Yeah," they both say and I immediately turn away from them. Jake looks uncomfortable about them and Bella just looks angry.
"You two have some kind of beef with Damon and Sam or something?" I ask them.
"Well besides the fact what Damon did to you," Bella begins and I look down. "They both freak out Jake!"
I glance at Jake as she finishes and wait for him to talk. "I don't know. They just think they run this place. Ever since Damon broke up with you Elena. Embry used to call them hall monitors on steroids. Now look at him."
I glance at the few people left on the cliff before turning back to Jake and Bella.
"That's Embry?" I ask him as Embry looks so different with shorter hair.
"Yeah," Jake replies gently.
"What happened to him?" Bella asks this time.
"He missed some school," Jake tells us and I am actually shocked as as he goes through these details they remind me of someone else stood on those cliffs. "Now all of a sudden he started following Damon and Sam around like a little puppy. Same thing happened with Paul and Jared. The night of your two's birthday and the night we told our family about me and you Bella Damon kept giving me a look. Sam keeps giving me the same look. Like they're waiting for me or something. It's kind of starting to freak me out. I mean I know Damon's family but still."
"Well they're gonna have to go through me if they want you," Bella says and he kisses her forehead.
"Anyway you should just avoid them both," I tell him. It's what I do if I see Damon.
We are now at the area where we are gonna ride the bikes. Bella is staying back so Jake can show me first.
"Okay," I say before sitting on the bike.
"You look scared," he points out to me.
"You do," Bella agrees with him.
"Well I'm not," I tell them both.
"Brake?" He asks me as I place my hands on the handlebar.
"That one," I say gripping my right handle where there is also a red switch on top.
"Clutch?" He asks and I grip my left handle. "Good. Gas?"
I click the switch and Bella nods. "Impressive."
I smile at her. "Thanks."
I press the gas and the bike Revs to life. Now I am a little scared.
I gasp as I feel a sense of familiarity.
"Now slowly release the clutch," Jake tells me.
"Elena," a voice says and I glance at my hand as a nearly see through hand touches the back of mine. "Stop!"
I release the clutch too fast and the bike lurches. Luckily I manage to stop myself before I go over the handlebars or drop the bike onto myself.
Jake looks a little taken back. "Whoa!"
"El you okay?" Bella asks stepping forward looking worried.
I take a breathe before deciding I need to see him again.
"I'm gonna go again," I tell them and Jake chuckles a little.
I start the bike and I am shocked at the thrill I feel as I go down the road on this bike. I gasp as I see Edward's spirit again. The more I see him the more I begin to lose control of the bike.
"Whoa whoa! Whoa whoa whoa WHOA WHOA!" I cry out as I begin to panic.
"HIT THE BRAKE!" I hear both Jake and Bella yell out. But before I know it I am flying over my bike and I feel like my head is splitting as I hit it on a rock.
I hear the rev of a bike and as I try to get up and a moment or two later both Jake and Bella are at my side. Bella must have been on the back of Jake's bike.
"I want to go again," I tell them.
"No way!" Bella exclaims.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Jake says harshly.
"I want to go again!" I try to be adamant.
"Not a chance!" Bella says to me sternly.
At the same time Jake says. "No forget it. No more bikes."
I sigh and glance at Bella as she looks at my head. I wonder what is wrong until she speaks. "El you're bleeding. Jake can I borrow your shirt?"
As he takes off his shirt I make a noise of pain as I touch my head where the blood is. "Ouch."
"Yeah," Jake says.
"I'm sorry guys," I tell them.
Jake laughs and Bella shakes her head as she places his shirt against the wound on my head.
"What, you're apologizing for bleeding?" He asks.
Automatic response after dating a vampire but I cannot say that to them.
I shake my head a little. "Yeah I guess I am."
"Well it's just blood Elena," Jake points out as he shares a look with Bella. "No big deal."
"Let's go!" Bella says and Jake helps me to my feet where we head to hospital so I can get some stitches.
The next day I head to dinner with Bella and we hear the others talking about Angela seeing some sort of animal in the woods. I decide it's time to try and get my life back to normal so I speak up.
"No, okay it was jet black and huge," I hear Angela say. "On all fours it was still taller than a person.
"A bear maybe?" Mike says. "Or an alien. You're lucky you didn't get probed."
"Oh yeah," Jess says.
Time to try and be normal. I stop at the table.
"You know you're not the only one," I say and everyone looks shocked except for Bella who smiles at me as she sits down. "Our dad is getting reports at the station. Like five hikers have been killed by some bear, but they can't find the bear."
Angela makes a thoughtful noise as she turns to Eric who lets out a nervous chuckle. "Last time you clowns doubt my girlfriend."
As the others keep talking Mike turns his body so he is facing me.
"So... Elena's back?" He asks us.
"Yeah I guess so," I tell him and I can still see Bella's wide smile out of the corner of my eye.
"All right that's well welcome," he says before getting a thoughtful look on his face before putting his hand to his face. "Um... so listen, you know now that, you know, now that you're talking and, uh... eating again which you know you gotta get that protein, Um I was just wondering if you wanted to go see a movie with me."
"Yeah, sure," I say but I am worried he will see it as more than going out with a friend so I decide I need to do something. "Yeah I do. "
"Cool um..." he begins once again deep in thought. "Let me see... we could check out, um... love spelled backwards is love. You know it's a dumb title but it's a romantic comedy. I mean it's supposed to be..."
"No," I cut him off. I am still not ready to watch love stuff. I am not moving on that fast. "No romance. Uh.. how about face punch. Have you heard of that?"
He looks a little shocked at the suggestion. "I mean, that's an action movie."
"Yeah it's perfect," I say. Action is better than romance any day. "Um, guns, adrenaline. It's my thing."
"Okay," he seems to accept it.
"We should get a bunch of people to go," I tell him and he does not seemed as happy about this as I turn to the others. "Do you guys wanna go see face punch?"
"Face punch, yeah," Eric says sounding excited before turning to Eric as the others begin to make noises of agreement. "Mike, hey, We were supposed to watch that! Remember the trailers like-"
He begins to make imitations of explosions and fights with Mike agreeing.
"Yeah! Movie night with Elena!" Jess says not sounding very enthusiastic.
