ENTRY 7
Adopt Me Right MEOW!
I am having a day. A day ending with my hitting Jack Daniels a little too hard and watching of all things Sailor Moon.
What was I thinking when I watched this in high school? Maybe I was drunk then too.
Then again. Mike Newton might have put pot in the brownies. Wouldn't put it past him, to be honest.
Boredom comes and I go to the local cat rescue page. Because that is always a good idea when you are hammered.
Then I see the most adorable kitty!
Chubby little black kitty with beautiful golden eyes. The same eyes as my loving husband, Edward.
Looking at the Sailor Moon and Jack Daniels in front of me, I decide that she needs a beautiful name that I know will fit her personality.
Or the fact I need better coping skills.
Luna Jack.
"It's a sign!" I cry out. To nobody.
I look at the picture again and the words underneath say:
ADOPT ME RIGHT MEOW!
"Yes! I need to adopt you! I will come for you, my little one!"
Edward comes into the room at this point, fresh from his after work shower looking too sexy for words. He looks at the tv seeing the Sailor Moon, the bottle of Jack and looks at me like I lost my mind.
"What's a sign, Love?" He asks with hesitation.
"Look! Isn't she adorable?! We NEED her! I already have a name for her! It is brilliant just like her!"
"I give. What is this brilliant name?" He chuckles.
"Get ready." I do a drumroll for effect.
"Luna Jack Cullen!"
Edward is looking at me like I lost my mind. Maybe I have. But, it's the perfect name!
"How about we email them and ask to make an appointment to see this Amber tomorrow. I am off all day, so that would give us plenty of time to meet her and see what she is like. What do you say?" I look and see that the adoption center named her wrong. Her name is NOT Amber! It's Luna Jack!
"That works for me. Can you do it? I might be a bit drunk and you know I get chatty." He laughs and takes my phone from me and sends them a message.
I am shocked when we get a reply ten minutes later confirming our appointment and that based on our application, which Edward must have already done, we would have no issues taking her home tomorrow if we choose to.
I was going to meet my new daughter in ten hours. I was so excited! I bounced off the couch and decided that I needed to go to sleep so that I could meet her sooner.
I showered and took some tylenol and drank a ton of water to keep my drunk ass hydrated. I have an important meeting tomorrow!
Edward laughs at me and my drunken attempts to do my evening routines. I am sure that my quiet singing is louder than it should be. Mainly based on Edward's laughing.
That man loves me more than should be legal and I love every minute of it.
We cuddle and fall asleep.
I wake up, excited. I should be hung the fuck over but I can't seem to do it.
The joy I am feeling that I am meeting my Luna Jack means more than words can say.
And that Edward is on board with it so quickly makes me even more giddy with excitement.
When we get to SOCKS, otherwise known as Save Our Cats and Kittens, one of the volunteers meets us at the front desk.
"It is wonderful to see you, Doctor Cullen. What brings you and your wife in?" Kate asks.
"Hey Kate. Bella and I have an appointment to see Amber. I talked with Carmen." She nods and Carmen comes out.
"Bella and Edward! It is so great to see you take an interest in our Amber!" I stopped her there.
"Luna Jack is her name." I tell her and she laughs as we follow her towards the back where the cats are kept in large rooms, separated by age with one for cats who require more quiet.
"What a beautiful name! This way for our adult room. She just aged out of the kitten room. With it being so close to Halloween, it is hard to adopt our little black fur babies. So many people have ideas that they are bad luck or witches cats, when they are not! They are usually some of the sweetest cats you will ever have. Now, where is she? Oh, there she is!" She goes to a chair on the far left side of the room where a black cat is sleeping.
She looks like she would be my Luna Jack.
I kneel down in front of her making sure not to be too close.
"She is currently sleeping, but she loves her pets. Amber, you have company!" She looks up and sees me. She then stands up and head butts me. This makes me smile.
I start to pet her and look at Edward, who is sitting next to me and also petting her. Loud purrs are coming from her and they are so sweet.
We eventually decided to play with her a bit and just loved every minute of it.
Needless to say, we walked out the door with her. After going to Walmart to get her food, two bowls and a collar, we brought her home.
Home. It feels so much better with Luna here.
We were those cat parents who sent adoption pictures to our family and friends.
Okay.
That was 100% me.
Of Edward's and my first baby.
What a joy she is to the family!
