A/N: Ok so i've decided that Rory's graduation date was May 28th 2007. I know the year is correct so I just guessed when she would have graduated. This might be a little easier to understand when I jump around with different periods of time!
I know I know, all you rogan fans want them talking again.. well you are in luck because it is coming. BUT it will take me until chapter 8 to do so... To clarify, it will take me until chapter 8 for them to talk again in PRESENT time (May of 2009) but that doesn't mean I won't have a lot of flash backs.
Again, if you feel as though i'm dragging out the meeting again between our favorite couple, i really am not. All of this background information is just VERY necessary for me to continue and you all understand the plot and what has happened and how over the past 2 years for our favorite blue eyed lady.
Also, if you look back to the introduction to this story (I updated/changed it) you will see the 'cast' of this story. including who played her seven year old brother Richard.
Another Clarification, In my changed version of Gilmore Girls, Lorelai and Luke got married in the beginning of Rory's Sophomore year at Chiltion. What they didn't know was that Lorelai was pregnant with Richard when they got married in August of 1999. Ricky was born on April 5, 2000, making him seven years old on Rory's graduation. So in present time, he is nine. Luke and Ricky are still living in Lorelai's house in Stars Hollow and Luke still owns the diner. Sookie took over the Dragonfly inn with Michel.
CHAPTER FIVE
Present time (May 28th 2009):
The next thing she knew, Someone was knocking on her bedroom door. She had just put her guitar back in the small corner of her room and was now sitting on her bed wiping any stray tears away. She reached her door and was ready to yell at anyone that was at her door. Everyone knew that no one was allowed in her room and only a few were even given permission to knock on it.
She opened the door and standing in front of her was her current best friend and future wife to none other than her other friend from college, Finn.
"Hey Rosemary." Rory sniffled and walked out of her room, closing the door behind her.
"Aw Rory." She reached out and took her into a sisterly hug. She patted the back of her neck and let go of her.
Rose smiled and they both walked over to the open bar in their hide out. The boys were about ten feet away from the counter at their poker table and from the looks of it, Tristan was beating Finn bad.
"Royal Flush!" Tristan laid his cards down on the table and leaned back in his chair with a smug grin.
"Bloody hell mate! I already owe you two g's from last time! Now another 3!" Finn threw his cards into the table and stood up, "Stupid bloody poker! I need a scotch." He made his way over to the bar and sat down next to Rory.
"Reporter girl! you made it just in time to witness my terrible defeat." He waved over to the bartender and he got started on Finn's drink.
"It's not like it was the first time." She said with a little chuckle, but went back to nursing her drink.
Out of the blue, their old friend came waltzing into their hide out, like she usually does, she made her way over to the bar and over to Rory.
"Gorilla girl! What is the reason for this visit? Not gonna lie it's nice to see you but Colin is going to kill you when he finds out your here." Finn chuckled and the visitor nodded.
"Yes Finn, again he doesn't know i'm here. He's babysitting today so I get the day off. I'm actually here for Rory." She said facing her old friend with a somber face.
Rory turned her head slowly to look at her old friend and smiled slightly. Stephanie continued, "aww girly. How are you holding up?"
Rory let out a sarcastic chuckle, "How do you think i am?" She set down her drink on the table, "I have no family."
"You have us Mary!" Tristan shouted from the poker table, while not looking up from his new winnings he was counting.
Rory grinned and turned back towards Stephanie, "So."
"So, Rory.." Stephanie sighed and looked at Finn whom nodded at her, she turned her head back towards her friend and went on, "Logan heard the song on the radio this morning."
"Oh." She sighed, "It was bound to happen soon anyway."
Stephanie shook her head, after a few seconds she responded, "He's still struggling Rory. He's put all of his power into work. He hasn't been to a LDB event in months. And... never mind." Stephanie shook her head and looked over at Finn. His somber face was sad for his friends. Stephanie moved and sat on the stool next to Rory's, and before she spoke again she looked around at the gathering crowd of the gang. She looked at Rory and she instantly knew what she wanted.
They waited for a second before Rory turned her face towards the group and said to everyone except her friends, "Yorkers! Out. Go find a bar or something." They all nodded and grabbed their stuff and started to head out, "Johnny don't get arrested again!" She added.
A dark haired man from the back of the group waved his arm and grunted then made his way to the front door.
Once they were gone, all was left was Finn, Tristan, Rosemary, Stephanie, and Rory. Tristan still sat at his previous seat, but now his wad of cash was in his breast pocket and he was leaning his elbows on his knees and his head in his face. Every once and a while he would look up but go back into is hands, listening carefully. "Guys we have to tell her." He finally announced, lifting his head and sitting up straighter.
Rosemary walked closer to Finn and he snaked his arm around her waist and pulled her close. Stephanie looked at her watch for the time, "I should be going in about ten minutes. Colin has a meeting at five."
"What time is it now?" Rory quietly asked, still looking at the glass in front of her, holding the cup and swirling around the ice within it.
"4:06 pm." Finn announced before the blond could. Rory nodded and a crease formed between her eyebrows.
"Tell me what?" She looked up and over at Tristan, locking eyes with him. Rory shook her head at his silence and tilted her head towards Finn, "Finn.."
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "Mate got out of rehab around two months ago." He said in a very thick Australian accent.
Rory's head snapped up, "Rehab? What rehab?"
"He had a drinking problem sweetie." The red head explained solemnly.
"oh my god." Rory whispered.
After a second the blond spoke up, "As much as I would love to stay and be with you reporter girl, I really need to get to the twins." Stephanie stood up and went around and gave all of her friends a hug, "I'll see you all soon." She smiled a smile and walked away, her curly blond hair bouncing at each step.
After Rory finished her drink, Rosemary and Finn had already walked away and over to the couch in the next room, leaving Tristan and Rory alone, Tristan got up and sat next to her in the stool that Stephanie once was. He lifted his hand and brushed a strand of hair out of her face, "Mary, it's going to be okay." He tried to comfort her.
Rory clenched her teeth, "yeah." She commented dryly. She stood up and grabbed her jacket that she left on a chair a while ago, "I'm going for a ride."
Tristan stood up, "Do you want me to come with you?" He asked nicely.
"No. I'm going alone." She said quickly and turned back briefly to give her good friend a small smile. In doing so, she quickly turned and found the front door.
Tristan was worried for her. This always happened. The day, the same day each year, she always did something crazy. The one year anniversary, she went out and got a large red rose tattoo on her upper arm. They weekend she found Finn and his gang, two years ago, she murdered the drunk driver that killed the very people she is grieving. Tristan remembered the day she called Finn crying, telling him what she wanted to do. We don't know how she found out he was the leader of the Red New Yorkers gang. But that woman had a plan and we didn't stop her.
After the murder, she became the most wanted murderer in New York and she has been hidden ever since. And that's hard to do. She hasn't seen Logan in almost two years and god knows is he even knows what she did.
Now, on today of all days, she is out again. Out in the busy city of New York.
A few days after her family's death (June 2nd 2007):
Leaving her grandparents funeral was hard. She had just watched the workers lower both of their caskets down into the ground where they will forever be buried. Logan's arm was tightly tucked around her waist, holding her close. Both of their faces were tear stained but his compared nothing to hers. She has mascara streaks running down her flushed cheeks. Her breaths were still shaky but her was out of tears. Logan walked both of them to his car and opened the door for her. She slowly slid in and he closed it behind her. He walked around the car but stopped in the back. He looked over to the graveyard and sighed. He hung his head and continued to the drivers seat. He made it next to her inside the car and turned the key to start it. Rory's head was rested against her window, small tears streaming down her soft skin. He reached over and placed a hand on her thigh, giving it a sweet squeeze.
"I love you Ace." He said quietly and lifted his hand off of her leg and placed it on the wheel. He took one last look at his fiance and looked through his windshield and drove off the property.
"I love you too Logan." Rory whispered and closed her eyes for the rest of the ride back to their hotel.
Present time (May 28th 2009):
Rory mounted her 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1300 and swung her jacket over her bare arms. She revved the engine, kicked the stick back and drove off. She knew where she needed to be. The place where her life was the most impacted for the good. Yale.
